| All you old ravers... Posted: 8/20/2009 12:34:53 PM | | Does anyone remember The Whirley Gig at shoreditch old town? What a fantastic party that was. At the end of the night a parachute used to descend from the ceiling, it had more impact when you were off your head on LSD of course but I did attend quite a few nights, sobre. There was a real mixture of young and old, people from all different walks of like. I have some wonderful memories of my time there. Never forget the time a woman dressed as a witch sat in front of me playin the fiddle just before we left for home, fantastic! | |

Full of pretty shallow and stupid individuals in my opinion!!
Obv never went to a rave, as they were full of friendly people, youd start by going with 2 matesm but then meet lots of new people, and end up in a group of 20
I NEVER saw any trouble, fights or attitude..
So you were totally wronge about your comment. Mind you in your snap you have your igh viz jacket on, so youd have fitted right in

| All you old ravers... Posted: 8/21/2009 2:28:43 AM | | rave died when the Es became the business, not the music. Coke/crack and Jungle didn't help and it all got a bit moody. Quite a few shootings in London from memory and when the dredged the canal beside Pickets Lock some suprises were found | |

Occasionally I go to 'Passion' at The Emporium in Coalville, which is a monthly trance night. It started way back in the 90s and still going strong to this day.

| All you old ravers... Posted: 9/8/2009 2:59:47 PM | | I see Gareth Emery is headlining on the 12th. He was one of the minor DJ's in the Godskitchen tent (where I spent most of my time) at Global Gathering. I was quite impressed by him, and thought his set was better than Paul Van Dyk. Predictably though Paul had about 5 times as many people watching him as Gareth did. | |

No, never went to raves, wasn't interested in the music and even less so the scene.
Full of pretty shallow and stupid individuals in my opinion.
Is that a fact? since you never went to raves and you had no interest in the scene how the f*ck in the dark can you assume it was "full of pretty shallow and stupid individuals"?
Far from it infact, the people I met were intelligent successful individuals. I always believe if you don't know anything about a subject it's best to keep your mouth shut.

Christ! can't believe it's still going! Do they have the parachute descend from the ceiling at the very end? That was always a special moment. The place had such an atmosphere, I shall never forget it, simply stunning!

| All you old ravers... Posted: 9/17/2009 6:31:50 AM | He's a good producer, really like his stuff with Jon O'Bir and Lange, Mistral was probably the first tune i heard of him, got it on vinyl, well my ex has He got into the dj mag top 100 a few years back and it was just randomly out of the blue as there's far better more respected trance dj's out there, but he did it, his myspace following and pod casts helped i imagine...fair play to the kid, he's come a long way. | |

| All you old ravers... Posted: 10/21/2009 1:27:22 AM | Was just remembering back to the late 80s early 90s when some of us used to go out to the old raves until it went into main stream clubs, have your musical tastes changed since then?
Do you still listen to rave music / hardcore etc?
I was into the underground music scene way back when. I still enjoy listening to decent techno from Berlin and Detroit but don't go clubbing any more.
