I don't know. Dogs seem a lot better than cats.

| why do alot of the guys at this site have a problem with dogs? Posted: 10/20/2009 3:42:23 PM | | I love dogs. I dated a girl that had several and boarded others in her home. I enjoyed the dogs and even helped her clean up after them. Where the problem came from was the lack of cleaning her home and it being unsanitary. I can handle anything from a poodle to a pit bull but animal stench I will try to help out but if she cant accept the help I am gone. That guy is a nut and pass him by. | |

| why do alot of the guys at this site have a problem with dogs? Posted: 10/21/2009 10:34:31 AM | For many people it's allergies combined with the mess & obsession. I'm allergic to some dogs & cats and that makes evenings at "her" place problematic. It certainly affects the dating pool as I have to avoid the ones where I "must love dogs" or the my animals & me package dealeo.
I love animals too but I don't let it define me. In the end my health & wellness has to be a priority over the animals.

| why do alot of the guys at this site have a problem with dogs? Posted: 10/21/2009 11:53:14 AM | I think Dogs are fine and many people have them (I think most households have a pet).
I have no pets, but I'd be more than happy to be friends with a four legged friend as long as they don't become my responsibility (which is often not the case since pet owners are often particular on how their pets are raised).

| why do alot of the guys at this site have a problem with dogs? Posted: 10/21/2009 11:56:51 AM | Probably because they either don't like them, can't be around them or the dumbest of all, have jealousy issues about the dog getting more attention.
Pets are usually a dealbreaker. People need to walk away from each other if they find they disagree on this.
Unfortunately I see a lot more attractive dogs in these profiles than men, so ya got me. If I could only go pick up their dog and leave them home...the odds would be better (and so would a lot of the dates!). : )

| why do alot of the guys at this site have a problem with dogs? Posted: 10/21/2009 12:09:16 PM | I love dogs (enough to volunteer at the local SPCA) but just can't have one due to my travel schedule. I've often joked that I'd date a woman just so I could hang out with her canine companion.
Ladies can correct me on this but, as a guy, your stock goes up a bit if you can quickly establish a rapport with her dog. After all, dogs can be a pretty good judge of character in people. From recent personal experience, the lady I'm dating was rather impressed that her dog came running back to me (first meeting) after escaping briefly since it doesn't even do that with her most of the time.

| why do alot of the guys at this site have a problem with dogs? Posted: 10/21/2009 1:52:14 PM | Can't figure it out, I like dogs. I'm a little scared of the bigger ones so I tend to favor smaller ones a lot more.
Actually, only once did I own a large canine. He ran away a few weeks later, so I kept sticking with smaller pooches ever since. They're easier to manage anyway.
I don't have a problem with cats either.

| why do alot of the guys at this site have a problem with dogs? Posted: 10/21/2009 3:05:31 PM | A dog is one thing, a four legged ‘human surrogate’ is entirely a different issue. Somewhere there has to be a distinction - and some people fail to make that distinction.
But then, hey...maybe that’s the kind of relationship those people should stick to.

| why do alot of the guys at this site have a problem with dogs? Posted: 10/21/2009 6:48:02 PM | I am a "mom" to 3 dogs and 3 cats. - I basically say on my profile that if you have a problem with it, then hit the road, jack.
I would never tell someone they need to give up their kids, so don't you dare mess with mine! - and yes, they are like children to me and you would NOT believe what I had to go through to get my dogs. - Since they came from a well-known and respected kennel in my area, I had to go through interviews, background checks, and prove financial stability to get them. - No kidding.
With animal abuse cases on the rise these days, many of these kennel masters aren't fooling around. - They will NOT place a good dog in a home where they won't be cared for and loved.

| why do alot of the guys at this site have a problem with dogs? Posted: 10/21/2009 8:06:42 PM | I see some good points and some nasty points but really what it comes down to is...
You either Love them or you don't!!!
What's sad is we or some (not I) would rather give up a good thing for perhaps the wrong reasons...insted of one's own merits. That pet owner could be your soul-mate...
It takes a big heart to love both ppl and animals...or at least I would hope.

| why do alot of the guys at this site have a problem with dogs? Posted: 10/21/2009 9:15:21 PM | I have a nephew that is terriffied of dogs. When a child/baby was knocked down by a dog. I also am afraid of the dobberman breed. I was attacked by this species twice in my life, once at a freinds home got bit and one time when I was at the junkyard getting a part. The dog was loose on the grounds and the attendent was stupid and had me go out back. I had to call the police and have the dog quarinteend for a week because of possible rabies. Anyway I have a fear of this type of dog, high strung dobermans. | |

| Why do alot of the guys at this site have a problem with dogs? Posted: 10/22/2009 7:12:41 AM | Many are not animal-friendly, and if this is a problem then they are better off finding someone with the same mind-set.
I had two dogs/now one (had to put one to sleep last week due to Cancer ), and they are part of my family period. Anyone who is not an animal-lover or has never had a pet will not understand the bond we have with our pets.
The way I see it, you don't have to love my pets as they get plenty of love from me/my family, but keep in mind they are part of my family.

| why do alot of the guys at this site have a problem with dogs? Posted: 10/22/2009 11:55:22 AM | There are dogs and then there are yappy, snotty, whiny scratchy, bite your ankle, pee on your leg little things also called dogs.
If you want a dog then get a dog my Pit/Lab cross loves those little silky yapping things. Tells me they are very tasty. He has a soft spot for cats too. YUM!
If I see a pic on a profile and there are one or two or more of those little critters I can't hit the "next" button fast enough. A poster above covered it with the "human surrogate."

| Why do alot of the guys at this site have a problem with dogs? Posted: 10/22/2009 11:58:49 AM | I find it interesting that the people with especially strong attachments to their pets often have not had/do not have children. - And apparently don't have LTRs either.
Really? Is this a case study you're actively working on?
And what is your conclusion?

Another bitter person on animals...........such animosity because?

Funny you should say this when you have a dog in your profile! lmao!!!!!

I find it interesting that almost all married couples I know with or without children don't feel life is complete unless they have at least one dog.
I just wanted to contribute something equally irrelevant.

| why do alot of the guys at this site have a problem with dogs? Posted: 10/22/2009 12:41:06 PM | Miss claudia, perhaps he is afraid of dogs... Once I had a co worker African American big lady who has fear of dogs,we were walking in a park from work and there was 2 beautiful big dogs, she stopped and told me that she was scared of dogs , we have no choice but to walk that path,so I assured her that the dog won't bite ,lol she asked me to hold her hand, I hold her hand but I am not very happy and scared that some one I know will see us and think I am a lesbian holding hands with a woman.... I am 5'2 skinny, she was 5'11 and very stout.....
The OP's dog is better looking than her date, that was so hilarious ..LMAO

You kill me WIP! That was relevant!
My tongue in cheek response: Well I HAPPEN to be married with or without children and I feel that my life IS complete - even without my dogs (who are all dead)(may their eternal souls rest in peace in puppy heaven) SO I'm not ANYTHING like the person you're describing (and your general premise is, therefore, just plain wrong).
OT (my more serious response): Sabrosura asked where I was going with this too, and although it's much too early in this case study to come to any conclusions, I think that one hypothesis that might be asserted is that, at some point, the "problem" isn't the guys who have a problem with dogs. It's the women who have problems coping with human interaction and prefer dependent canines over whom they have absolute control.
Just a thought. I got a girl. I have a family. I had a dog. I dated women who cared more for their dogs than their mothers. It seems wierd to me. Kind of like Equus but with dogs.

Hey Sabro,
Strap you azz back on. Ya need to slow down and read the postings. The "little" critters is the keyword there. My dog is a DOG! He is 10 months old, stands 23" high and weighs 60lbs of muscle and no fat and afraid of nothing. Now THATs a dog.
The pic of him was January this year at 7 weeks old. Cute as hell eh???

Strap your attitude and how you speak to people.
So according to who are "the little critters" as so you eloquently put it not classified as dogs? Surely not the AKC; the organization who truly has knowledge, represents all breeds and authorized to deem what is or isn't a canine.
EDIT:
Sabrosura asked where I was going with this too, and although it's much too early in this case study to come to any conclusions, I think that one hypothesis that might be asserted is that, at some point, the "problem" isn't the guys who have a problem with dogs. Ah, so you are spear-heading a case study...........
I'm not sure who you have surveyed or who/what your resources are, but I can only speak for myself (about my experiences with dogs).
I have zilch problems coping/interacting with humans lol, and it is safe to say that dogs are dependent of their masters. Dependent on feeding them, taking them on their walks, financially for their health issues/follow-ups, etc..........
I'm not sure why "the girl cared/loved her dog more than her Mother". Maybe the said girl was abused as a child? Who knows? lol....................No issues here. :--)

| why do alot of the guys at this site have a problem with dogs? Posted: 10/22/2009 1:34:20 PM | .. what a bunch of useless debating on this subject..
it's a preference... a dog is an animal.. and belongs to my opinion on a farm or in the outback.. or it can be nice when you're a hobo going from city to city..
BUT..
same thing can be said about alot of things... smoking is a dealbreaker nowadays too.. idk.. there can be a million things wich would make a relationship harder or not answering to your dream image of what it should be..
it's fine you like your dogs and place them (to) high on your priority list, but don't cry if it comes between you and someone..
you chose so stick with it.
can't have it all | |
