| why do alot of the guys at this site have a problem with dogs?

I have always had several pets, one man I briefly dated, said" I dont like you near your animals,dont like you near your children, I want you all to myself"
When I told this to a shrink, he said,"get away from him fast,most people who dont like kids and animals are strange and dysfunctional, when you REALLY get to know them"
I got away and never date anyone who does not like animals,they are selfish. | |

Posted: 8/2/2007 7:01:41 PM | I grew up with doggies, had four of them and they were great, back then.
I am allergic to doggies and cats, mostly cats and it is instantly. Happened in my mid 20s when I found out I had Asthma and allergies after moving here to the Pacific NW from Hawaii.
Doggies only allergic to them if they are not cared for and or are the type that just reeks and gives me the sneezes.
Following are ideas to the OP’s question why do guys have a problem with dogs. I didn’t limit it to this site as it is world wide why Some guys have problems with Some ladies with doggies.
I do have to first say this, if a guy has a doggie there rarely are any problems with finding and keeping a lady where the doggie is concerned. If the doggie starts to show any type of discomfort towards the lady the doggie is told to stop that and it does.
Females tend to think of the doggies as child replacements, very VERY Scary. They also look at the doggies as Equals when they are not. Humans do not live by a Pack Mentality when compared to doggies. We can discern and think and accept things or not. Doggies just go along kind of following the Alpha. If let to be the Alpha nothing but problems occur, especially when people visit and or a guy comes into the picture. Instant competition and the females are clueless about this and do nothing or they smugly stand there and won’t accept help stopping the doggie from growling, charging, and or even biting. I have seen this many times and even experienced it myself. The females act as if nothing is going on. There is a LOT wrong with that and men notice it.
If the female that Owns the doggie has it under control that is a whole different story. Doggies are not the equals to humans and when the majority of females understand and employ this simple common sense rule this won’t be a problem.
When you see someone walking their doggie and the doggie is leading them around they are totally out of control of that doggie. Bad for that person and whom ever they try to engage any type of relationship with and mostly bad for the doggie too.
Would you let your children just run rampant? Some parents do and we have young adults that have many problems trying to adjust to society after leaving their parent’s umbrella. Doggies don’t leave that umbrella but do interact with society. Bites are not fun.
For all those morons that think dog germs are healthy or super clean get your A’s out of your heads. Dog bites are not healthy, any way you look at it. Doggie kisses are very cool and friendly. Those are nice but Bites Suck. Realize that and for you females with doggies that don’t take in to account that your doggie will bite a stranger because it is taking offense not to you, dopes if you believe that, but because they are the Alpha doggie and they want to maintain control.
Why should any one want to put up with that chit? Think about that.
Remember this is in answer to the OP’s question and it is aimed at answering WHY guys have problems with ladies and doggies. There are many humans out there with doggies that are in control of their animals and respectfully so towards their animals and the humans that interact. They are not the discussion so all you Haters just post your venting angers and I will scan them by as you ain’t changing any minds with your knee jerk reactions.
One big type of animal, not a dog at all, are pit bulls. Morons have those animals and I don’t care how sweet they are around you and your babies or what ever because they eventually attack you and yours too. They definitely attack anyone else not in their Gang.
If I see a lady with a pit bull, or what ever type of breed you want to call it they all do the same bad temperament biting and killing mauling thing, I have very little respect for her and don’t want anything to do with her. Who wants to be bit and or mauled?
Personal experience of mine taught me this some time ago. I was living with this lady and her son. They had a nice doggie, really nice, who was old and would die soon. I went to my youngest sisters wedding and came back and she put down the other doggie and got a pit bull. No discussion, no notice, nothing just this stupid breed of chit for an animal. Thing kept trying to bite the first time I came Home to My Home. I had to hold it up in the air and stare it down so it wouldn’t do that crap to me, wanted to play Alpha Dog and lost. It would growl at me after that but followed my instructions. Other doggies, real dogs, you don’t have to anything close to that with. Of course she was standing there yelling at me while I was keeping the pit bull from biting me and she was doing nothing. She was a New Age freak that hated anyone that didn’t follow her Religion, I dumped her shortly there after. I grew up in Hawaii and I know how pit bulls are, they raise them there for hunting, you don’t want to be surrounded by them. You have to kill them if you are, or be able to run really fast. Most pit bulls here are not trained as in Hawaii so I wouldn’t kill a pit bull here unless it was trying to kill me and or someone else, especially children and elderly which they seem to target regularly.
There is also the point of view that a lady with a dog that doesn’t have children or they grew up and moved away is looking for a substitute in usually a bad way. Rare do you see a lady with a doggie that is cared for and also respects those around them. Who wants to be bit? No one.
Seeing pictures of doggies on profiles only helps me in knowing that I won’t be with that person unless they are very nice and know that doggies are Not Our Equals. Some profiles with pictures have some weird pictures on them. I do and so do others. Because I have a picture of my VW Bus doesn’t mean I will take the bus over a lady. If a lady doesn’t like my bus that is her problem not mine as it is my vehicle. My Bus will not try to bite her. Vehicles don’t bite, piss, chit, bark and growl at others. I have to make it clear that I do like doggies but just not undisciplined ones and ones that are with ladies that think animals are equal to humans. That whole mentality is New Age PC crap. That is a religion and pushing that crap onto others is stupid especially if you want to find someone that will be with you long term and for life.
Animals are different than objects like shower curtain, duvets, a cluster F of curtains on one window, and such, and certain ground rules need to be there before relationships can start. Males seem to know this naturally. Rare do you find it hard for males with doggies to find someone to be with where females find having a doggie a negative aspect. It’s the mentality of the over all picture. Proof is that you the OP even posted this thread, you don’t understand why. Cool that you are asking but it would be nice if you OP and any lady like you takes the time to understand this simple common sense thing about animals and that they are not the equals of humans.
Another thing that turns off guys to ladies with doggies is that they are child replacements. Maybe that guy doesn’t want to raise a doggie, or put up living with one that is out of control and their owner won’t do a thing about it but blames the guy. Not Attractive Ladies, no way.
Maybe like the OP’s contact guy who hated doggies and said so there are people out there that don’t like doggies. No matter how friendly and fun they are to others around them. Fears are fears, respect them.
Again with the pictures things. Not only put a picture up but also mention that you have a doggie that is fulfilling a child that you don’t have. Be honest and straight forward about it, you will get guys that like that and will like you for being honest. For the rest of ladies that might have doggies but don’t put their pictures up as if they are Children they are easier to get along with as they know their doggies are just that doggies and not children. That is a HUGE difference and guys spot that miles away. Not Attractive for most guys.
A lady that has control over their doggies won’t have any of the problems listed above or others, their doggies know they are not the Alpha. Read a book or two on doggies ladies and don’t gloss over the important stuff or think you know it all. If you are having troubles finding guys because of your doggie or doggies Think About It. DAH, right there in front of everyone else but you.
I really wish I could have a doggie, many different breeds I would research through and then search through pounds and such for the one for me. I live alone and work 12 hour shifts and that is just not kind to any animal that depends upon interaction. I am not selfish so having a doggie around just to have one for me is foolish. I have two neighbors. One has a doggie left from her daughter that moved off to college and doesn’t want the doggie anymore. It sits outside and cries a lot. I want to go over and console and play with her but if I did then I would end up having her and I would be cruel to her from being away for so long. Twelve hours plus two hours travel time there and back and then sleep on my part for a couple of days is not good for the doggie. On the other side of me lives who I call the Crazy Cat Lady. She has three doggies and two cats and thinks they are humans and says they should be able to vote and be citizens. Really. That is one nut case for sure. She is not uncommon though so that is a problem. Maybe guys run into this sort of nut too much and are very weary of getting involved with someone that is self centered.
When I see and meet doggies out on the sidewalks and such I let them sniff my hands as that is what and how they interact. No problems there and even for the ones that love to kiss everyone. Very cool. I am there a short time and may sneeze but it clears up in that hour or next. Cats takes days to clear up and it’s not fun. Not going to eat those daily cat dander pills to be immune to it. Most doggies love me, I put off a cool vibe I guess and that is good.
I would only be with a lady that had a doggie if she knew it was not an equal but an animal with needs to know you are the Alpha and not themselves. So many of the people that let doggies run wild being Alpha are messing them up mentally and yet say they are the ones that care the most for animals. In what fits as animals in their fantasy worlds and not in reality.
If ladies treat their doggies like this they will treat their children badly and just to think how screwed up they would be towards a mate just shakes and scares any guy.
Ladies that know their doggies want them to be the Alpha have no problems with guys.
Bummer that it has gotten to this but that is what our society has done.
Guys just have one more thing to be weary of and to look out for and see if it is that bad or not. Shouldn’t be that way but it is. Fits with Friends With Benefits but not with short or long term relationships let alone marriage.
I hope this has helped some who have read it all and for the other a good nap or they quickly moved on to something else as they only learn the quick stuff and nothing thoroughly. I can put this in here and those type will never know.

My Rott is long gone, but I'd date a woman with a dog in a hearbeat. Maybe since Rotts are really good judges of human nature, he didn't want to get eaten when your baby decided he was a little too creepy and he knew it?

Still like them and hang around friends with dogs. Cats are another matter. Went to a house on business and when the lady opened the door I had to step off the porch. The stench nearly knocked me over. She didn't seem to notice it. I guess it's all in how you take care of your animals.
They say that dogs have owners and cats have staff to wait on them. | |

Oh yeah? Stop feeding a Dog or any other animal and see how long it remains "loyal" and sticks around. Animals are animals and as such slave to even more primal instinctual behavior than most Men. Their true loyalty only extends as far as the food bowl remains filled somewhat regularly, and they feel properly cared for. In that respect to some degree I suppose they are the same as Men. To believe otherwise is to delude yourself. Animals are more apt to seek out "greener pastures" if given the chance, than most Men, Cats especially.

If you are a person who views animals as a burden, then you wont make it with a human who loves animal s.
If you have never been comforted by a sweet purring cat or a silly dog, watched a mother bird with her young or catch a sighting a deer running, you just wont get it.

Posted: 8/3/2007 2:18:13 AM | This recently happened to me. A man contacted me, had a good email flow going and then he wrote, "you're dog...maybe be a problem." I wrote, "ahhh...no problem, bye."
The only time I would ever bring my dog on a date is if I was meeting a man in the park with his dog, which by the way has always been a great date scenario.
I understand people get a little crazy with their dogs, and Lord knows, my
Gracie girl is spoiled, but she is also a good dog, friend and my very loyal companion. When I feel sad she makes me laugh, however, she does not have a wardrobe and I do not talk to her in baby talk.
I understand not everyone likes dogs, OK, maybe I don't. However, my dog isn't going anywhere and for someone to tell me she maybe a problem, is a complete deal breaker. No further conversation needed.

Posted: 8/3/2007 6:51:12 AM | sactowndude, you say a dog is a dog, not a child, leave them at home! that is only to you. my dog is my child, and i will treat him as such. if you ever had a dog, or a cat, and loved them, truly, you would understand. you are missing out on much love. my dog does not have temper tantrums in a store crying for something, he does not call me names, he does not argue. he is happy just to be with me. and thats the way i love it. i have to say, if you were hanging on a cliff, and so was my dog, i could only save one, well, guess what?, id still have my dog beside me. you would have to say good bye. yes, i am serious. and i wouldnt look back.

Well then I hope you and your pets have a happy life together,obviously you don't need human interaction or offspring.I have owned several pets in my lifetime and I loved them very much but I know the differance between love for an animal and love for another human being,if a there was house on fire I would save the humans first.
Michael Vick has dog fights(which I deplore) and it makes national news but we have millions of children starving in the world and nobody cares. | |

I find that if a person does not like Dogs/animals. And did not have a child hood trauma. There really not worth the time of a relationship. Normally being self absorbed Shmucks! :)

i do have a happy life with my dog. i date, go out, im not saying men sux. im saying i do prefer the love of my dog, over a humans love. and i love my dog, very much. i have loved, but still loved my dog or cat. and yes, i would still save my dog. still. im not saying if i met someone that loved animals as much as me, i wouldnt want to be with him, it would only make the connection stronger. love your pet, and find somene who feels the same. my male room mate of 14 years feels the same way i do. maybe that is why we have never argued, have fun with our dog. he is just a room mate, will never be anything more. yet, we are happy, with the love of our dog. sad, for you, you can only love one. i , or we, can love both. you are missing out. so sad.
