| LEEDS UNITED Posted: 1/19/2008 9:17:51 AM | we agree again Pedro...Staying in the upper division of any league be it the EPL, Bundesliga or La Liga is something that is earned. Size of fan base or monetary value should not be a determining factor. Play between the white lines is what determines success or failure/ relegation. That said, Nothing matches the passion & support that the football clubs in Europe, Mexico & South/Central America receive from their fans. If only fans in the United States would show such passion. In Houston we do have large turnouts to Dynamo games but you have to keep in mind that is a city of over 4 million the Hispanic population is at 47%. When I moved to Houston Texas in 1979 I played in the Hispanic leagues because there was no other option. In Dallas, Just 240 miles away, Youth football was in abundance. when I was growing up there. | |

| DIRTY WEEDS SCUM. Posted: 1/21/2008 11:20:48 AM | The only thing BIG about Leeds United is Denis Wise's Gob.
Fair play to teams like Wigan Athletic for having a good team spirit and punching above there weight in the Premiership.

| LEEDS UNITED Posted: 2/14/2008 9:38:52 AM | I don't view Leeds' position as being 'desperate' . The club is where it is because it deserves to be there.
No club has a god-given right to be in the top division of its particular league.
It doesn't matter who a club plays against - its fans will want them to win every match, whether they are playing Histon or Everton.
It's good to see Gary McAllister back after his personal troubles of recent years, although I cannot see the present squad emulating his style of play (think Trevor Brooking merged with Glenn Hoddle) in the near future. Shame that he only has until the end of the season, given that he'll be sacked when they fail to gain promotion.
'Loyalty' was mentioned in the OP, and this is something that older Leeds fans were raised on. I remember that Don Revie only seemed to pick about 20 players during their period of domination (OK, it was many more than that), and that few of the players moved to similar clubs (Joe and Gordon spring to mind, although didn't they leave after Don had left?).
Even the 1992 team wasn't anywhere near as the 1972 team. How many people can recite the former, then think how many can recite the latter?
All together now!! Harvey, Reaney, Madeley, Bremner, Charlton, Hunter, Lorimer, Clarke, Jones, Giles, Gray............happy days!

| LEEDS UNITED Posted: 2/16/2008 5:06:36 PM | | Hmmm... I see your point pedro. But, with all due respect to Wigan. They don't even manage to sell out their ground. Where as Leeds would if they were in the Premier League. Leeds upon fans and history should be a Premier League side. As well as, I think, Nottingham Forest. Poor management at Leeds, by Peter Ridsdale, has basically cost them. | |

| LEEDS UNITED Posted: 2/18/2008 10:40:17 AM | "Leeds upon fans and history should be a Premier League side"
well it is great to know that you are not the FA president or FIFA president.
so if you had authority upon football, you would only care about fans and history to decide which clubs fight for the Premiership? NO THANKS!
if great teams of old like Leeds or Nottingham Forest are shite right now, then they do deserve the place they are now. only with victories they will return to the top, which is the only fair way in football.
|
| LEEDS UNITED Posted: 2/18/2008 11:16:35 AM | | Lol, FA or FIFA president. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that Derby or Wigan or any other teams don't deserve to be there. Of course they do. If you get the wins and the necessary points, then you deserve to be where you are. All I am saying though is that I have a lot of sympathy for Leeds fans. They were screwed up by one man, who stupidly spent money the club could not afford and got it into debt. As a Luton Town supporter, I can closely identify with that. If Leeds didn't have the debt, they wouldn't have to have sold all their best players, some will say that they wouldn't have had those players because they wouldn't have created the debt, but when you get loans which include interest and then you cant recoup the money you paid for certain players (Seth Johnson, Robbie Fowler etc), you have to sell off most assets, which is virtually what happened. All it becomes is a viciuos circle. | |

| Leeds United Posted: 3/23/2008 5:47:26 PM | ok folks back to the topic of LEEDS UNITED!
peter ridsdale and his board at the time are the reason leeds are in lg1
the reason reading and middlesbrough got into the premiership is coz those 2 clubs inparticular have fantastic chairmen, who have a whole loada heart and faith in the people they employ. steve gibson at middlesbrough and john madjeski at reading have stuck by those 2 clubs for about 10 yrs now and those 2 clubs both have good grounds, good coaching staff, and have given their managers funds 2 spend in the transfer windows.
IF leeds had a chairman and a board worthy of owning leeds then we wouldnt have dropped from champions league to johnsons paint trophy in 6 seasons.
Our fanbase, history, stadium, training facilities, and youth academy are still in the top 10 in the UK, and playing in lg1 won't change any of that.
We have the best attendance ever seen in lg1 since full seater stadiums were introduced, beating the record set by man city a few seasons ago when they were the big club in a crap division. that attendance we had against huddersfield town at elland road was 32.501, and theres some teams in the prem whos top attendance wont reach 30 thou this season, infact i think 7 teams in the prem dont even have stadiums that hold 30 thou. we had our lowest attendance of the season in our 2-0 win against walsall and it was the 1st of the season to go under 20 thou, 19.909 i think it was, but we always will have awesome support, and thats coz we do really have some of the best fans in the UK
from now on, unless uve got summin constructive 2 say about leeds united, then dont bother posting on here, take ur pathetic hate of lufc elsewhere!
