Also, while you may be really into religion, horses, gardening, or your cat, please remember that, while saying that you're into these things is important, it is good to be concise. Ie: Saying, "I'm very active in my church/religious group and love my god," "I'm an active horse back rider and love my horse," "I love my garden and my tomatoes," "I love my cat and he/she is important to me." it is important to remember that the profile is about you as a whole, not your love of religion/horses/gardening/cats.
By being concise in what you like you are able to attract someone without making them think you're a nut job. | |

Posted: 8/25/2007 10:17:07 AM | I asked a good guy friend from work who is also on POF. He said that he pretty much uses the pics to see if the woman is reasonably decent looking. Like he said, if there's no attraction, it ain't happening. After that, he actually reads the profile and checks out the interests, etc...
My thoughts... If you're posting pics with extreme cleavage, lingerie shots, or nude/semi-nude photos where your naughty bits are covered by pillows, you're guilty of advertising SEX--even it that's not the intent. i.e. Maybe it makes you feel sexy and that's all you care about. Guys are still guys (sorry men, I don't mean that in a bad way) and if you put it out on display, of course they're going to look. When I wear a tight blouse where the buttons are being pulled apart, of course I expect men to pay more attention to me. I don't like the freaks and pervs, but if I dress in such a way I can't control who's can't check me out.
Original poster, the boob close up and the pigtail pics spell tart to me. As far as your written section, I don't get it, but that's just me. Doesn't make you wrong, right, bad, or good. Your whole profile is very suggestive. You're puttin' it out there like a billboard.

I'm looking for a long term relationship... even if the other person is, it is hard to take anyone who photos themselves in a bubble bath barely covered by the bubbles at all seriously when it comes to a serious relationship.
People often forget to advertise for what they want. That includes the photos. | |

Posted: 8/25/2007 10:28:51 AM | If the girl is cute/pretty, it catches my eye on the profiles. If she's not, sorry to say, then it doesn't catch my eye. I don't think less of people that don't catch my eye, I just don't have the time or inclination to think about them.
The exceptions are if I read someone's posts on these forums and find them consistently interesting, I'll take a look at their profile in depth. Also if I get an email from someone else first, I'll take a little time to look at their profile to see what they are all about.
Only thing I can say is if there are women out there who aren't getting the kind of responses or emails or attention they would ideally like, they might want to consider just emailing people themselves and roll the dice a little. There's nothing to lose and everything to gain if you think about it. | |

Posted: 8/25/2007 11:21:57 AM | I think it's the pics and the pics alone. My profile clearly states I'm tired of online dating for now and am just here for the forums. Yet, I've gotten countless emails saying "wow, I really enjoyed your profile and want to get to know you more." I even had one man call me a liar in not so many words by saying he didn't believe I wasn't looking for a boyfriend/husband on here. So, I wrote him back, told him I agreed that I am a total liar, and that was that!
So, it's the pics. Guys who think I'm attractive email me, irrespective of the verbiage (or lack thereof) in my profile. | |

However if you happen to put a non flattering picture, the responses will dry up - even more so than if you have no picture at all. I've noticed that with a good picture you'll get a lot of pervs contacting you, whereas with no picture, the odd fellow who actually read the profile will contact you. If the pics are suggestive you really ultimately have to expect that that is the group of men you are calling out to and just hope that a good one falls in with the bunch! | |

For me, it doesn’t matter if they have a picture or not. It's how they express themselves in their profile. You can usually pick out the ego driven or narcissistic ones. What attracts me is some one who seems truly honest about themselves in their profiles and doesn't make out that they are a winning prize or they are a princess that needs to be worshipped, like so many do. | |
