| Any single RV rs here? Posted: 4/27/2008 10:02:36 PM | | I bought mine last summer. I got so tired of trying to find hotels and motels that would let me bring my dogs, I just said to heck with it and bought the RV. I had to have some conversion done on it. The bedroom is now wall to wall kingsized bed, and I had racks installed for the portable pen. We've had a great time running around Texas and adjoining states. | |

| Any single RV rs here? Posted: 6/2/2008 9:57:42 PM | I've been thinking of buying a "Four Wheel Camper" for my Ranger. The cost is high but the benefits and potential resale value seem worth it.
Has anyone here had any experience with them?

| Any single RV rs here? Posted: 9/24/2008 6:04:22 PM | | I'm not there yet! But is only a matter of time! It would be nice to find my special someone interested in fulltiming with me. I've done the camping thing all my life, 2 vehicles, boat, camper, kids, dogs, and the kitchen sink LOL, and now being retired, I really plan to make my fulltiming dreams come true. I'm planning to take this adventure either alone or with a special someone in the near future. I guess this is the real place to spout off about that!! Most people my age do not have the freedom to do this. I'm early retired and It is time I start living it! | |

| Any single RV rs here? Posted: 9/30/2008 2:13:07 AM | I have had R/V s both sides of the pond - both solo & shared; would love to buy another & go walkabout either US or UK, but would not now go without a co-driver - female of course. I notice nearly all on the forum are stateside, and that would suit me fine if I caan get insurance; it would be a real adventure with 48 states to explore - the other 2 require a boat. UK offers much to see & do, but it would have to be a compact- 20ft max. 40 ft condos are unwelcome. | |

| Any single RV rs here? Posted: 10/1/2008 5:00:34 AM | Hey Grizz, welcome to Texas! Since you are in East Tx, visit Bastrop. That's where the lost pines are - where East Tx, North Tx, Central Tx come together ending the piney woods and beginning the look of South Tx. And where Johnny pine tree dropped off a load of pines familiar to the far north USA/ Canada, but totally not familiar to the south. There are plenty of 3 day free parks in the Lone Star state. One could avoid all parking costs altogether if one truly wanted to. Again, you can google national or state parks and buy the year pass or just camp for free, 3 days at a time. I miss my RV. Can't wait till I retire and I'll be back in one for good. The last one was a 36' tongue pull - big enough to move around in. I took out the bench seating and made the living room larger and lived in it for a year.
The snow birds are migrating already. I suppose we won't see the huge migrations as in the past due to the gas. I used to count RVs on the road this time of year. I think I got up to 200 before I quit the last count. BTW... For those who have the smaller RV's without pull out awnings, I just picked up several "gazebos" (like street fair tents) at Walgreens at a good end of summer price. You just have to ask, as summer chairs and stuff have been returned to the stockrooms in the stores, but stores don't want product in their stockrooms if it can sell.
In times like these, we should see more people living in RV's - a lot cheaper than living in a house.

| Any single RV rs here? Posted: 10/5/2008 11:58:42 PM | RVers, well I been living in one for the last 11 years. 1988 25ft 5th wheel Terry Resort. At times it gets small, but it is home. Started while married, traveling doing construction, and kept it through the divorce (guess I stayed gone too long). Have seen alot of states in it and pulled it over the Rockies, Smokies and Sierras. Looking to replace it with a new(er) one as soon as social security kicks in. It doesn't have a lot of storage, but I didn't need storage at the time. Have learned the needs of rving and storage is one of them. Always pay attention to the wheel bearing. Pack them before leaving the park on each trip. It will save you on flats. It pays to be a member of a club like Good Sam that have insurance and towing. Like throwing a drive shaft because you didn't grease the u-joint. And then have to be towed 40 miles to the nearest repair shop (truck stop). Out of pocket cost for towing $0.00, $60.00 deductible for repair cost. Was back on the road the next day and slept in the Rv that night.
When I leave out, will be looking for a lady to rv with. The most rewarding thing in Rving is to wake up and take a cup of coffee outside, sit under the awning and enjoy the view of the mountains or lake. Visiting with the other campers over coffee. Have even met celebrities on the road. Got pictures to prove it. Have never been parked next to someone I didn't get along with. Saved alot of money on vacations too.
note: no trees or animals were harmed in making this post. Just a few billion electrons got excited.

| Any single RV rs here? Posted: 10/11/2008 2:29:52 PM | I have been fulltiming a year. Staying on the Texas coast for the winter. Would love to have a co-polite to travel with me. I smoke, (outside), which probably reduces the number of possible travel mates. Have thought about giving up on the co-polite and just getting a cat. Would have someone to talk to, but, when they talk to me, I'm not sure I always understand what they are saying. DrifterDan | |
