| Any single RV rs here? Posted: 11/3/2008 8:11:12 PM | Sold the house in '05, and bought 371/2 ' diesel pusher with a Saturn "toad". Together it is about 50' long. I love the community of RV'ers. Mostly just real nice, helpful folks. I didn't like the location where I had my house, now - I can change the location at will! :-) Being a woman driving this rig surprises many people. I took an RV driving course (just do a Google search). It was so helpful - and I get a deduction on the insurance. I have been Snowbirding in Quartzsite, AZ., and the "Slabs" in CA. There is so much info and sites to check out for those thinking of fulltiming (like me). This is a great life, if you can enjoy miles and miles of miles and miles. | |

I know this lifestyle really narrows my chances for meeting someone. Not too many people can follow their dreams. I can,, and will,,

| Any single RV rs here? Posted: 1/24/2009 9:43:30 AM | What a hoot. Lots of people interested in RV'ing, it seems. I've been doing it mostly because of the practicality - getting to remote places like Alaska, Northwest Territories, Yukon Territories. I know the snowbird route to Yuma very well too. It's nice to sleep in the same (custom tuned) bed each night too. For the remote traveling, you don't have to worry about where the motels are. Mind you, with up to 300 miles between fuel sources, it's a good idea to have a large tank.
If you're thinking of traveling in the winter, it's best to have a motorhome or van. That way the bed is already warm when you stop for the night. A bed in a trailer or camper is going to be pretty nippy on first entry, after a long drive on a cold day.
Mostly though, it's a practical way to do the music festival scene - in the summer

| Any single RV rs here? Posted: 1/24/2009 11:13:23 AM | I do not RV it at this point. I camp with my horse; have a small horse trailer and a tent. I have my reservations for Lake Luzerne already for July! Anyone else camp with their horses?
I know that people are getting stir crazy here in NY and planning their summers already!
I have a peice of property and hope to get a small camper to put permanently there to have to go to during the year. It is close enough to be able to enjoy on my weekends.

| Any single RV rs here? Posted: 1/24/2009 6:06:01 PM | | hi... I love to camp and to visit new places.. my teen and I have travelled most of North America by car and tent... we have soooooo many fav spots. I love Alaska in the summer, hawaii any time of the year and I love Colorado, North Carolina, NM and S Cali for the great memories... Arches National Park really stands out as one of the spots that I thank God that I did not miss...I want to run away from the toxic town that I live in but I promised myself that since my teen does not want to leave this town, I would wait it out for 2 more yrs... I have the summers off so I can partially run away each yr... God Willing I will be on the road again this summer... blessings and safe travels, warmly Mona | |

| Any single RV rs here? Posted: 1/25/2009 5:43:29 AM | .............just a wannabe here. I've done lots of traveling and camping. The abundance of retirement choices has me considering and RV. Cabin fever has me dreaming of a road trip *sigh* | |

| Any single RV rs here? Posted: 1/25/2009 8:13:07 AM | Tally_ I know your not the only one dreaming of summer and a road trip; some excitement!
I complained that the vacation book got started so soon this year, but you know I know when my days off are in the summer and I am spending this cold yucky time planning my camping trip. I am not traveling far but meeting a group who love to camp with their horses and we got some fun days ahead of us!

| Any single RV rs here? Posted: 1/27/2009 11:04:12 PM | | I lived in a 30' Winnebago for a little over a year and fished in 23 states. It is probably one of the safest ways for a female to travel alone. I would never go next door in a motel and drink coffee with a stranger, but drank coffee with many strangers in RV parks. Most of the RV parks are inhabited by retiree couples and certainly the RV lifestyle doesn't really lend itself to bums as gas prices and campsite fees are not affordable for everyone. I loved every minute of my adventures and will take off again in a bit bigger one when I retire, 6 more years, God willing. | |

| Any single RV rs here? Posted: 3/8/2009 12:38:25 PM | | Hi everyone, I cant quite answer the question why ? I guess for some its curiosity, see whats around the next bend or over the next hill , see and live nature in all its glory, leaving yesterday behine. But whatever the reason I hope everyone can live the dream. Back in 1974 I bought a brand new Dodge van I reworked the interior and it was almost livable he he , and I did live in it for the better part of 1975. From Erie, Pa to Texas to Mexico to California to Arizona to Wyoming and back to Erie. I have to say my fovorite memories come from 1975. I still have an old van but this time I may need a little more comfort say a 20 to 26 foot rig. Happy Trails, Tom | |

| Any single RV rs here? Posted: 3/27/2009 1:53:01 PM | Hey...I haven't followed this discussion for awhile so may be way off subject... I was wondering if anyone knows of anything like an RV swap group...you know the way people swap homes for vacations or cottages...I think with the price of gas it might be awesome...it comes with issues to iron out...insurance, break downs accidents etc...but immagine if you lived in NS and wanted to RV in BC or Alaska...I'm thinking you could fly cheeper or drive a car...motorbike...etc. and think of the time savings... | |

| Any single RV rs here? Posted: 3/27/2009 10:00:11 PM | I'm a wanna be RVer. I've done a lot of research on the rig I would like. I did rent a very small camper when I was in Australia and drove and lived in the outback for 2 weeks. But, I know 2 weeks is a lot different than full time.
The freedom of it would be amazing. Now I just have to win the lottery!

| Any single RV rs here? Posted: 4/1/2009 4:42:19 PM | I guess I'm a wannabe, except I need to experience it to be sure. (I love camping) I want to do two things: 1. find a way to drive one (class A) to make sure it doesn't bother me. I have a motorcycle license and have driven trucks, etc. but not sure on this. Can't drive one unless you have one....? 2. actually live in one for a few weeks to be sure. As someone mentioned, rentals are expensive and not readily available.
I thought doing this as a full timer if I decided to do it would be two years away BUT then I took an early retirement thing that was offered so I could do it sooner. Have been on multiple websites, visited RV shows. Somehow I think I might not be as excited about it (maybe it only represented freedom from a heavy responsibility job?) if I actually did it. On the other hand, I actually think I might love it.
Suggestions on trying one out before investing money in one?

| Any single RV rs here? Posted: 4/16/2009 8:48:16 PM | Wow!! That is really an elephant that you are on there....cool!!! I just discovered this thread re Single RVers...GREAT!!! I just arrived back in Victoria B.C. Canada on Monday April 13th 2009 and have just come back from wintering in Southern Baja for six months..on my way north I stopped in Yuma Arizona and then got on Hwy 101 and rode up the coast in Northern California, stopped in to see the Redwoods and then on up the Oregon Coast for a way and then over to Port Angeles Washington area where I got my little RV and myself on the ferry to Victoria....it was a great trip. I would perhaps throw out a welcome to people to visit my place in Southern Baja during the fall and winter or even in the Victoria area in the Spring-Summer months. It's a great life but doing it solo is not always the best..I'm thinking it could be a bit better with some company....any ideas???? | |

I am so new to the rv world I haven't even driven one but am planning a trip to Jasper this Sept with my dog and am planning to rent a beast of sorts. But what a great idea that you would have this network of renters/renterees!

For the geography impaired, a quick reminder that 75%+ of the earth is water. :)
If you're near the coast or a lg. lake, it's usually a bit cheaper than having an apartment.
Sailing also gets unlimited FREE miles from the wind...
