| Whats with women that invite their dogs into the bedroom to sleep? Posted: 8/7/2007 6:46:59 PM | Sleeping on the bed with us- no.
Sleeping beside the bed with us- Ok.
In the bed or room while your having sex- no.
Don't hate dogs - last GF's dog liked me-(he told her I was OK) I liked him. After a while, maybe better than her.
But they were a package deal. Se la vie!

Posted: 8/7/2007 6:59:44 PM | People have such different views toward dogs and what is acceptable. 30 years ago, most dogs stayed outside, or if they were allowed in, they weren't allowed near the furniture. Times have changed. I am one of those people who sleep with 2 of my 3 dogs. My 3rd prefers to watch the house. I can't imagine not being able to focus on sex just because they are in the room or in the bed

| Whats with women that invite their dogs into the bedroom to sleep? Posted: 8/7/2007 7:01:55 PM | I have 2 large breed dogs and yes they do sleep on my bed, on the sofa or on the floor next to my bed. Whatever they want they will get. I also would not suggest anyone walking down the hall when I am asleep. A few years ago 2 men decided they would be "smart" and ignor the beware of dog sign and both jumped across the fence into my back yard..... Bet they wont do that again! My oldest is a 12 year old Rotty and she is my heart! They don't make doggy beds big enough for my dogs so I bought them a baby crib matress and built a platform for it but when they want on the bed they are welcome to. My prolfile does say "you must like dogs" cause my dogs will be with me no matter what and so far I have never met a man I wanted to keep for as long as my dogs have been with me. The rotty is also a high maintance dog that needs insulin shot twice per day so I must be home to give the shots and most men think thats crazy but to me its crazy for someone to have a dog that doesn't do what is needed to take care of them...so yes you must like dogs or please move on to the next profile. | |

| Whats with women that invite their dogs into the bedroom to sleep? Posted: 8/7/2007 7:19:55 PM | | Get some SECURITY guys. Sounds like it is a competition for you.....dog's gonna win!! Let's see.....unconditional love....does'nt wanna f-uck everything in a skirt.....does not care if you have make up on or not...... could care less if you gain/lose a few pounds..... will lay his life on the line ANYTIME...ANY PLACE for you.... always happy to see you.....NEVER gripes at you.......maybe some....please note I said, SOME, of you men should take lessons from those "dogs" and see if you can measure up. I am a sinle parent....dogs have not ever taken the place of kids....so BACK OFF!! My child is a National Merit Honor student, works, editor of the newspaper, cheerleader, and drives a car she bought with her own money. So, i think I have done an OK job as far as parenting goes. My dogs-5- BIG are all in the house. I am a professional trainer. They bring income into this house as well as being on duty 24/7. It's me and a 17 year old here. Go ahead, break in. Oh....you'll get in....you won't get out. Before I can get the 9mm...you will be sorry. Dogs offer emotional support, as well as financial support to some. Maybe you are afraid you won't measure up????? If you can't handle dogs....MOVE ON!! Oh.....my dogs are also SAR dogs, and certified pet therapy animals. Read up on this and you will find many benefits that dogs bring to nursing home patients and hospital patients. Don't be so quick to judge.....all Nascar fans are rednecks.... all Mexicans are illegal..... I am not from the South....but there is alot of racism here, all because people judge too quickly. See how stupid those comments are? Tells alot about your intelligence, or lack of. Some people love animals...some don't. Hook up with an animal hater....you'll be much happier. | |

People on here are thinking that some people hate dogs or animals....thats not the case....I love dogs, I use to have a couple...but i DON'T let them sleep in the bed with me, thats the question being asked here is it not?????? I think it's funny how you can start talking about dogs, the jobs, the kids, then blah blah blah,

| Whats with women that invite their dogs into the bedroom to sleep? Posted: 8/7/2007 7:58:41 PM | I seriously...seriously...avoid people who seem to not understand the distinction between relationships with humans and with animals.
I especially like the ones who compare dogs to kids (never met anyone who had kids that did this) and / or who come with the "gos are more loyal" line...as though being DOGS and thus dependent on them for their well being has nothing to do with it.
Really...I just avoid such people. I would never even REMOTELY consider responding to someone who had a picture of their dog in their profile (why would I need to see what your dog looks like...unless you know they play a larger than appropriate role in your life...), and if i met someone and learned that they slept with their dog...that would be it.
I've known a couple people who LOVED their dogs, one who was a vet, and the other a dog breeder...and they both agreed with me...that to love a dog as a dog is of course a special thing...but that people who forget that they are DOGS do the animal a disservice...and I would say (and I suspect they would to) that having a dog sleep in your bed versus having it have its own bed and space would count such an inappropriate action.
I have nothing against dogs...its (some) dog owners I have a problem with...

I'm one of those people with kids that also has dogs. I have to admit that my dogs can be just like my kids. The beagle has the same personality as my son. The wiener has the same personality as my daughter. The two dogs get along exactly like my kids do. They try to push the limits just as my kids do. Sometimes it feels like I have four kids rather than two. However, all three of my dogs are kennel trained. My boxer as well as the two other dogs are service animals. They each sleep in a different room unless the kids are not in the house. Their kennels are in each room. The doors are not latched and usually they will sleep there unless the kids are not in the house. Then I'm stuck with three dogs in my room. The boxer will guard all night and has. She is very protective of her family with good reason. Because they are service animals they have to have the flexibility to do their jobs. If someone doesn't like that, I hope they don't hurt themselves with the door on the way out.

| Whats with women that invite their dogs into the bedroom to sleep? Posted: 8/7/2007 10:01:44 PM | Men do it to. I mentioned this in another thread. It's a guarantee that if the dog eats human food and sleeps in his bed and is allowed the run of the home without rules or training then the dog will always comes first. I love pets but have had many experiences of large dogs knocking me down and little jumpy terrier types jumping up in my face and knocking off my glasses for example.
He would absolutely not shut the dogs into another part of the house or shut the bedroom door. Try to be intimate and fend off the dog that is licking your hand.
I was booted to the curb over this. And he has the nerve to say my cats are troublesome. He could never travel because the dogs had no one to hang out with and there was nowhere to stay that accepted dogs.

| Whats with women that invite their dogs into the bedroom to sleep? Posted: 8/7/2007 10:10:46 PM | hey im sure lots of men do that too.
anyway it probably starts when the doggie is an itsy bitsy, cutesy-wootsey, snuggly face, love ball
that hard to resist!!! I know....i WAS one of them.....my BABIES slept with me too... 2 dogs and a cat pinned me in bed every night and i was unable to move at all. thank god there never was a fire!!
anyway, with m y new doggie i started him off with different rules. from day one he was never allowed in my bedroom. oh trussssssssssssssssssssssssssstttttttt me I spoil these (65 pound) guys all day long....weirdo dang dogs!! but the bedroom and furniture and entire back of the house (unless im in the back room on the computer...then they can tag along and keep an eye on me back here) is all off limits to them.
its all how you START off with the babies. its very very veyr hard to change the RULES once you let them sleep with you and then studdenly kick them out...and have to look at that sad heartbroken little fuzzy wuzzy doggie face as he walks away crying little doggie tears. thats HARD!! my doggies have their own super plush dogie beds in the living room and the sack out on those happy as can be. :-)
doggies RULE!!!! | |

Apparently, you've not met a lot of dog lovers. I have a son, and my dogs are my babies also, far as I'm concerned. With them in my room, or in my son's room, I don't worry about anybody breaking in my house, they might get in, but they surely won't get out. They are a part of our family, and anybody who comes in my house (or even on my property) and has a problem with dogs is welcome to leave and not come back. My dogs live here, these people don't.
As far as sleeping arrangements go, my dogs sleep on the sofa in my bedroom.

| Whats with women that invite their dogs into the bedroom to sleep? Posted: 8/7/2007 10:48:50 PM | Mental Illness- Wow. LOL!!!- Okay then. No just love and he knew his place -he was not in bed every night. I wish he was around now though. this is kind of sad reading this for me. I have no children and he was important to me- went to the best vet, ate the best food. I was able to give him a great life- as I would have if he was a child. Thats all. I read some of these thoughts and its just sad that some feel this way, thats all. He was my friend but above all a fierce protector.
curlygrl~ I'm terribly sorry for your loss, curlygrl~
Just wanted to let you know that women aren't the only ones who like having their dogs sleep beside them. I love it when I wake up in the morning and my dog is sleeping beside me on the bed. She is like a daughter to me and I wouldn't have it any other way so perhaps we are both mentally ill!
he said 'not kinky" meaniong not including them in sex acts, I take it..but sleeping with a 100-lb. dog in your bed??
if you consider that 'normal', so be it. What does the dog's weight have to do with anything? If another human slept in the bed they would be at least 100 lbs too, wouldn't they?
And if you consider elitist behaviour and superiority complexes normal, so be it.

| Whats with women that invite their dogs into the bedroom to sleep? Posted: 8/7/2007 10:57:55 PM | My dog sleeps in my bedroom when I do. He's never on the bed - it's mine - not his. He's a pack animal. I'm the leader, he follows. If I crash in the living room in the lazy boy, he crashes in there on the floor too.
The thing about starting a relationship with someone, is that I've had my dog for a while now, and he's got not going anywhere. If someone doesn't like dogs, or doesn't like him, then we won't be furthering our relationship - so I won't be putting my dog above my partner - they will have never been a partner in the first place. The person I end up with (if I do) will be compatible. Once we've moved along that path for a bit and our emotions have grown, then yes of course - the man will come before the dog - then and only then. Plain and simple.

| Whats with women that invite their dogs into the bedroom to sleep? Posted: 8/7/2007 10:57:59 PM | I have children and I have dogs and one dog sleeps with me and one dog doesnt. I dont have some crazy obsession, am not mentally ill, and dont have some awful mothering need not being fulfilled. Like so many others, I consider them my family. To me, once you get a dog, it is yours for life. You are responsible for the very life and health and happiness of that animal. They are there when you are sad, they play with you in the back yard, they climb in your lap when you are just relaxing, and they lie with you when you are sick. They are the ultimate in loyalty, compassion and love.
And to the other guy who posted that they should be on the porch or in a dog house, you should never have a pet. They are not lawn ornaments to be chained to a tree and ignored.

| Whats with women that invite their dogs into the bedroom to sleep? Posted: 8/7/2007 11:03:36 PM | I kind of agree with the OP.
My dogs aren't even allowed in my bedroom [they only have access to the kitchen/dining/living room] nor are they allowed on the furniture. One dog is most comfortable sleeping in her crate in the garage [she came that way... she lays by the door if left inside]. The other sleeps inside in the living room in her bed.
Really if you don't like it, don't date women who think their dogs are their kids. Don't get me wrong, I refer to mine as my kids all the time[more like 'furkids'], but they aren't allowed on the furniture and are expected to maintain their manners with guests over. I can say it is kind of annoying going to friends houses who have animals that are jumping all over the place, on the couch, on the chair, on me. No thanks!
I really like animals, and if a guy I was involved with really, really loved his dog and his dog had to be on the bed I would deal with it. But I can't say I wouldn't be grooming the dog once a week just for the sake of cleanliness

| Whats with women that invite their dogs into the bedroom to sleep? Posted: 8/8/2007 4:04:20 AM | | I view my dogs as part of my family unit...no, they are not human, but they are still part of the family. I was lucky enough growing up to have parents who loved animals, and the dogs were allowed to sleep with us back then. My "kids" are clean, and I enjoy sharing my bed with them. I have this strong view about people who "get" dogs and people who don't. The ones who "get" them learn a lot about life from them...dogs know how to enjoy the simple things in life, because it really is the simple things that are important, not the silly things us humans can get caught up in. I think the ones who can't establish a connection with dogs are missing out and not capable of understanding what it is that I am talking about. On the flip side, I do see a lot of people who don't establish healthy relationships with animals...I am referring to the hoarders who collect animals to fill a void. | |

lol...that's pretty funny, especially when you have a pic of one of your pals in your main pic. I have a pic of my b*tch up. She's one of my pals...sometimes one of my best pals. I guess I should say I never respond to profiles where the guy has to put one of his pals in a pic with him because I know he plays a larger than appropriate role in your life.
She is my constant companion when I'm at home. She's my running partner...we run nearly everyday. She sometimes goes camping with me. When I'm sad, she senses it and tends to get as close to me as possible. She makes me laugh. She's happy to see me when I come home. She's never mean or nasty to me. She accepts me just as I am. Yep, I love my b*tch.

Posted: 8/8/2007 4:32:42 AM | I love all pets,,,,people who put their pets before another person though, thats just completely ass backwards...think about it. When a woman has written in her profile "you must love pets", and contacts me, my reply to that is "we will just have to see how much I like you"... People that say, my dogs will be there long after you are gone,,,you are right...I won't be there very long when your pets come first...

| Whats with women that invite their dogs into the bedroom to sleep? Posted: 8/8/2007 6:48:56 AM | Funny that this comes up. I have 2 kittens that my son found on the road at about 4 weeks old, someone had tossed them out of the window of their car. I decided to keep them but I lock them out of my bedroom at night, they are not allowed to sleep with me at all. It originally started when they were keeping me up at night playing or wanting to lay right at my face, then I decided it was probably best not to have them sleeping in my bed anyway. I adore them but I think my bed is best left to me and whomever I decide to share it with.
I used to have a 100 pound rotty who slept on her bed, at the foot of my bed everynight, I'll admit I had to put her out of the room while having sex because she always thought I was being hurt and would act accordingly but was allowed back in afterwards. It was a comfort to me to know she was there and protective of me. Animals are somewhat like children and once they get into a habit it's very hard to break it.

I adore dogs, and my last boyfriend had the most gorgeous rottie ever, who loved to climb onto the bed for a snuggle. But he slept on the floor beside the bed. Otherwise, it just f*cks with the pack mentality.
