Whats with women that invite their dogs into the bedroom to sleep?

Beyond the rudeness of this commentary.....I don't understand the reasoning behind this general attitude. I have been in bed and had the dogs jump in and out of it. What's romantic about that?????? Ever had a dog lick you during sex or fart in your face when you are trying to sleep? Or chew bones half the night and get that rawhide slobber all over the bed?

I loved the dog I had as a child but the day I have to fight with a dog to snuggle my honey at night is the day I move on. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt...... and a huge scar on the back of my left leg.

Sherry

However, when you are trying to be romantic and your choices are barks, whines, scratching from another room or a wet cold nose in the butt or some sensitive licking, it is pretty much a mood killer. I keep trying to tell my guy friends that he will be very gentle.
In the throes of passion: "Honey, what happened?"
Your dog just stuck his nose in my A$$ and then started to lick my balls!"
Or how about engaging in kissing, and having the dog staring at the other party with curiosity and try to join into the affection-fest?
I can see why even dog lovers cannot accept this sort of romantic encounter.
I think they are really just jealous because my "doggie's" thingie is bigger than theirs and he also has a much longer tongue. That is the real reason why men don't like women with dogs!
Ooh, well I am not the one that brought up the subject of bestiality and zoophilia. Maybe the issue is really with the men who suffer from penis envy and tongue envy?

having a special and unique bond w/ an animal is healthy, but I have to question the ppl that say that they view their dogs as their children. you wouldn't let your child sleep in your bed, nor allow your child to sit and watch while you're having sex, so why allow the dog (ie: your 'child') to?

most of us realize that our children (the human variety) need boundaries ~ as do your dogs. it makes for a better experience for everyone that comes into contact w/ your pet.

idahosun:

I come from a small town, and have many friends who farm and have so many dogs, cats, goats, and so forth, and when they would have so many dogs or cats or any other animal that doesn't provide income to the farm we would shot them, drown them, why because if we didn't the crows, hawks, or coyote's would get them, and trust me it's more of a violent death then what we provide....I love animals, but it's different being on a farm then the city.

I saw a woman on here that had an ad, she was so much of a dog lover, she actually took her dogs to get accupuncture...wierd, huh?

What's with people giving services to dogs as if they were human? Talk about money down the toilet.

What do you care? It's their money, they can do with it whatever they wish. Some people might think taking you to a doctor would be
money down the toilet

I grew up on a farm myself, we did not drown our animals, how cruel, makes me gag! If an animal has to be put down, a vetenarian or a gun but for gawd's sake don't drown it! We women have dogs because men come and go; dogs stay til they go to the rainbow bridge. A well trained dog does not need to interfere in romance, but watch your dog's reaction to a new guy, the dog will tell you if he's some kind of sicko, wish I would have paid attention the last time that happened with one of my dogs!

I am a dog lover and share my life with several of them. That said they do not sleep in my bed and only get up on it when invited. They sleep in kennels in the bedroom, on the floor, or kennels in the basement. They know to not be on the furniture unless invited and know the command off and go lay down. I recently went out with a man with 2 dogs who are more or less out of control...constantly jumping and mouthing. I do not like this and I love dogs. I also did not appreciate during intimacy having said dogs trying to crawl on the sofa, the bed, or anyplace else trying to be the center of attention. I have to say with these two dogs or any others that behaved like that I would not want them in the bedroom while I slept or was having sex.

There is no doubt that I love my dog.
However, when "we" went to a bring your dog event, there was a "Doggie Psychic" that was getting $25 for every fifteen minute reading. I should have invested $25 to learn what her scam was, but I just could not do that to people because it is not in my nature.
I heard this one woman say, "C'mon Baby, lets go get your readiing now!"
You should have seen this psychic focusing and concentrating with her eyes shut.
On that note, I did buy the dog a five minute massage at the event, but at least this was good for his hips and so I was not being a complete sucker!
I wish I were unscrupulous enough to engage in such a scam, because this woman was making $100 an hour for her readings, and people were paying it!
So, you think letting a dog into the bedroom is bad, now have that same person pay $25 for a reading from a psychic.
I admit, I am a single gal and he sleeps in my bed (but I used to sleep with a teddy bear) and that I have created a total Momma's Boy, but I can guarantee you that I will never buy him a psychic reading.

Im sorry to say, I too let my dogs sleep in my room. One sleeps under the bed and the other at my feet. Since divorcing 4 years ago one of my dogs has been very protective of my, he never lets me cry and just gets in my face if I do. They love me and I love them, so if they want to sleep in my room they sleep in my room. However when I have a partner they do not sleep in the room with us, even I agree thats a bit much, lol!

As a owner of cats and dogs i would have to agree with cugman...animals should not sleep in the bed!! its gross but its not just some females that are guilty of this, some men do it too. I may be a bit guilty because i let my small dog sleep in my bedroom but on his own bed on the floor, hes not allowed on my bed.
I would say to anyone who didn't like it....u know where the sofa is!!!

Not as gross as you posting a photo of you sticking your tongue out.

How is it that YOU decide what is gross?

My dog is free to sleep up on the bed if she chooses to. and If YOU don't like it.....

i agree. i love my dogs. they are companions that love you unconditionally. they never complain and are always happy to see you. they are wonderful for security. my dogs stay outside for the most part. especially at night. needless to say no one dares enter my property and i sleep very soundly. it should be dogs are women's best friends. they are much better than children.

well me and my dog 140lb grate dane talked about the issue and we decided that he sleeps where ever when ever for as long as he wants (once in a while i even have to wake him up in the morning to go outside ) but as far as the love action in the bed room goes hees kicked out the room and same when were eating he knows not to coem in the kitchen he sits in the dorway 20 feet away watching cause he knows if he begs he gets nothing versus not begging he gets leftovers i guess its all in how you train your dog , cat, or any other pet even children for instance if you let them be wild they will be if you dicapline them and teach them structure and routne they will be well behaved and very obeident well with that said me and my odie are taking a nap

I'm sure my reply to this thread is going to be reduntant but...........................

1) I've bred, raised and exhibited pure bred dogs since 1969, both as an owner-breeder and as a professional handler so canines have been a big part of my life for nearly 38 years.

2) When I was married, VERY few times did a dog/dogs actually sleep in the bed with 'us'. If they were in the same room, at bedtime, they had their bed and we had ours.

3) In 1982, I began to loose my hearing but with a husband next to me I felt safe. When I left the marriage in 1992, I had little left except for my dogs. At that point, a 'few' had nightly priviledges. In a king size bed, it would be me and as many as 5, 50# dogs and, again, I felt safe/protected.

4) However, when in a relationship, my canine companions either took up floor space in the bedroom or crated in the family room at night. "I" felt dogs in the bed was inappropriate. Now that I am unattached again, my dogs sleep on the floor because,as I've gotten older, the constant panting, nesting, sneezing, scratching, farting and position changes remind me too much of my ex.........LOLOLOLOLOL. Maybe if HE had slept on the floor, the marriage would have lasted longer.

Anyways.................to each their own. I just don't think it's in good taste when people are sleeping together. Sex or no sex.

Ok, I've read most of the posts here and have a few points to make.

First of all, its been said that people who don't understand you people with pets are "animal haters".

Well, let me put one thing perfectly clear here. I am a REAL animal lover, which means I believe that animals should NOT be domesticated, but should be allowed to live in their own comfort zone and natural habitat.

It is simply unnatural for a dog or a cat to be sleeping in a bedroom. They are outdoor creatures, they're animals, not human. Those of you that are using these animals to satisfy your own "needs" are the actual "animal haters" here. It pains me to read of animals being forced into a life of being house-bound and human-like in exchange for a few doggy biscuits and the occasional bit of meat !

Secondly, many of you have stated that these animals are like your children. How many of you allow your children to sleep in your bed when you have a man friend over? How many of you allow your children in bed whilst you're having sex? How many of you allow your children to even sleep on the sofa in your bedroom? Not so like your children now are they ?!!

Thirdly and finally, it seems to me that this could be a lot of the reasoning behind why some women can't find a man here. Your dog is your ideal partner, he's protective, loving, obedient, well mannered, reliable and trustworthy, to name but a few.

So your ideal is a dog/cat !! Maybe you expect to find a man that will be all those things too? Not on your life !!! But, then again, if you did, you'd probably be calling him a wimp and "too nice" in a thread at some point in the future.

^^^

hear, hear!

wafta makes a lot of sense..so many self-proclaimed 'animal lovers' are REALLY all about "using" the naimal to meet THEIR needs..dress them up like alittle child, or a baby-substitute..

sort of sick, IMO.. and not really a 'loving' thing to do.

these people that treat animals like children are not really "animal-lovers"...

they are forcing the animal into unnatural WEIRDNESS to suit their own needs!

all about selfish human needs, really

but I agree with everything everyone has said anyway in this forum, to each their (his/her) own. hope this post doesn't have to be deleted.

snakecharmer2000, if you're even remotely serious....

an animal will never replace a child. anyone that says otherwise has a delusional grip on the dynamics of the world. scary to think that someone would choose a dog over their own flesh and blood, but apparently, there's @ least one

DUH......ever heard of neuter/spay/geld, pick the right one for said animal. It is dumb f-ucks like those that are creating the over population problem. If they are not spectacular representatives of the breed.......................don't continue the line. Don't have them in the first place if you cannot be a responsible owner. Don't b-itch at me either....professional trainer/handler/judge and 7 year vet tech experience. I KNOW what I am talking about here.

They are no longer "wild" animals. WE are responsible for that. We brought them into our homes....fed them....bred many of their wild traits out so they would be more domesticated for our pleasure. We bred for certain traits and behaviors....come on! Does anyone really think you could take a pack of Yorkies to Yosemite National Park, turn them loose, and they could find and kill prey? We bred horses for our use.... if you take a wild mustang and stall him, his reactions differ greatly than the Quarter Horse next door. Same goes for mules, goats, parakeets, I will give the cat credit, most cats can survive in the wild after domestic living. IF we have not had them declawed so they won't tear up our furniture. Did we humans not evolve? I think there are very few of us who could be turned out in the wilderness to survive. No T.V., no heat and air conditioning, no microwave....AHHHH!!! NO CELL PHONES!!!!! Think before you post.

hoosierblonde,
One day I was passing a a cardboard self-crafted street sign, advertersing "Pomnarians" for $350 apiece.
The "breeders" did not even know how to spell the breed's name!
This has nothing to do with this thread though, and we are way off topic. New thread on stoopid breeeders, maybe?
My dog is entirely domesticated. He is a house dog.
Sometimes I wonder if I were attacked if the dog would hide behind me.
I will never consider what I did to him to be cruel, no matter what any professional trainer says.
He is healthy and happy!
Perhaps the next thread I will start is going to be on abusive men and why I appreciate my dog so much!
