| guys that listen to heavy metal: are they dateable? Posted: 9/23/2007 3:03:03 PM | Everything in moderation, my friend.
I think you shouldn't say, "I listen to heavy metal/rock." It makes it sound like you don't like anything else and you have an extensive collection of big hair 80's rock bands in your truck. May be you shouldn't tell women this right off the bat. Let them like you for other things before you spring the Iron Maiden on them.

I'm a headbanger...always have been, don't see it changing anytime soon. I started with Black Sabbath and just kept going up until now.... to infinity and beyond!
I don't think it matters as long as he's open to other types of music too. Except country...metal and country are pretty much opposites.

| guys that listen to heavy metal: are they dateable? Posted: 9/23/2007 7:39:27 PM | Being a metal head myself, I prefer guys who listen to metal. Unfortunately I live in Kentucky and it seems most guys here listen to the same music most girls listen to--rap/country/pop... ugh, I can't stand any of that. I only like metal/rock. | |

| guys that listen to heavy metal: are they dateable? Posted: 11/3/2007 12:51:02 PM | This is the guy I always go for... A large majority of my ex's are heavy metal musicians. Love the music, from the 80's hairbands like Poison and Cinderella to the legendary like Kiss and Ozzy and Aerosmith, and to the lesser knowns like Kix.
Headbangers are their own little group. Many are scared by this passionate music and the fans that are attracted to it. Those who love it, love it for life. Now, I must go break out my tape collection to fully appreciate the depth of this post.

| guys that listen to heavy metal: are they dateable? Posted: 5/13/2008 11:15:35 AM | Perhaps this thread was created in regards to the typical "metal enthusiast" stereotype that we (as metal lovers) have to deal with. I cant disagree though, as metal has been the victim of some ill stereotypes placed upon those uninformed about the genre.
If anyone wants to know what makes me tick in regards to my affinity with the likes of Death metal, its quite simple....my ears demand a challenge. I like to experience music at speeds i can't quite wrap my mind around. Im a mark for complex compositions and multiple part changes. And most importanlty, metal is about the only music that provokes any sort of feeling in me. Music in my head becomes a landscape of sorts either plush and green or cold and barren.....regardless it creates a feel.
Is the guy who idolizes gangster rap dateable? Is the guy who cleaves to the ideals of drinking like a manaic outlined in some country music lyrics dateable?
If nothing else my music of choice has been a minor nuisance for most all of my girlfriends over the last 15 years or so. Ive found that mostly all my GF's eventually found at least a band, or style they liked quite a bit.

| guys that listen to heavy metal: are they dateable? Posted: 5/13/2008 11:21:59 AM | Why not. I listen to heavy metal, hip hop and rapp and I'm a conservative Christian. I wouldn't think anything less of someone who did the same. I like all types of music except too much country. | |

| guys that listen to heavy metal: are they dateable? Posted: 5/13/2008 4:46:38 PM | I love heavy metal all the way, LOl I might be a professional buisness woman, but hey that's my music, now to find a guy that likes it and wants to listen to it with me. Mind you, I love all kinds of music, but I have dated some like why are you listening to that, etc etc.
Sorry, what I like is what I like. I like to learn form my partner and wish they would do the same.
Metal Masters Tour in August... Yes baby!!!
And I get the Stereotype all the time, oh, you like Heavy Metal, you must do drugs and be a biker chick?? hahha Now if only my life were that exciting!! LOL

| guys that listen to heavy metal: are they dateable? Posted: 5/13/2008 5:17:53 PM | Definitely datable. I love heavy metal music. My taste in music is varied but I tend to lean towards music that's heavy, loud, mournful, somewhat anti -establishment and full of angst ( I never claimed to be mature;).
The only music I can't tolerate is the hip hop girlie love songs type of thing...I'm not sure what's it's called actually, but I'd rather listen to the pounding of a jack hammer all day than have to listen to that.
That and country music are an absolute no no for me...to each their own.

Posted: 6/25/2008 5:24:14 PM | | I sure hope so, I'm one of them( heavy metal dude ) lol but yeah, seems we are far and few between though on Plentyoffish , also just because someone likes a type of music, doesn't mean they'll inflict someone with it , and I do like many other types also

| guys that listen to heavy metal: are they dateable? Posted: 6/25/2008 5:31:32 PM | I´m open to all styles of music...........
But if your dating someone and all your blasting on your car stereo is metal, that might be a turn off. Everything has its moments.......

| guys that listen to heavy metal: are they dateable? Posted: 6/25/2008 7:14:00 PM | As a male... I play drums to ALL kinds of music.
What we listen too should not matter as long as we do not show anger, aggression or dangerous traits when around or interacting with women.
