how do you know if someone is out of your league
Posted: 8/24/2007 10:50:09 PM
I know what you mean about 'out of your league' - despite what people say, they do exist - highly attractive girls are much more picky and selective, because they can afford to be, and they know it. That annoys me to some extent, but it's totally natural, and to be expected (and works the other way round too) - however, once you get a conversation flowing, league tables evaporate and you're in the playoffs with as much chance of scoring as the next man :)

In theory :( heheh

I've just been relagated from the conference, again :-)

I don't believe anyone is out of anyones league. Sure we all have preferences but noone should ever think they are better than another person. I treat everyone with respect and expect the same in return. I don't think anyone is above me and I certainly would never think anyone is below me either. We are all people with feelings, emotions and should always remember this.

Is there a difference between these two statements?:

"You are way out of my league"

"I am way out of your league"

They imply that the two people are clearly incompatible, but I reckon that the first speaker implies that the other person is beneath them, and the second speaker implies that the other person is above them, league-wise.

^^^^^ Vin I disagree, I think its the other way around

"You are way out of my league"

To me implies that the other person is above me.

"I am way out of your league"

To me implies that I am waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy above the other person!!! This latter thing happens all the time of course - NOT!!!

Sorry Vin, but you are wrong!!!!

I don't think you can really tell just by looking at someone. There are a lot of people who judge books by their covers and make their assumptions of what league a person is in. Just cos a woman is stunningly beautiful, it doesn't mean she's a million leagues above me. She might be looking for a Mr. Average just like me cos all the 'fit' blokes she's been with are too up their own arses, and spend more time in the mirror than they do! But on the other hand, she could be more arrogant than a bull on viagra and have really smelly feet ...

I would say 80% of everyone is out of your league. About 5% are in your league and the other 15% are "maybe" in your league.

The top 5% of one sex will desire the top 5% of the other sex, will have many companions in life and probably never settle down. Will more likely settle down with one of the 15% "maybes" than any of the top 5% of the other sex.

If your one of the 80% most ugliest, don't worry because 80% of the opposite sex are around the same ugliness as you! So you have more choice because no matter what the face looks like, you can have a big arse, small arse, athletic, well rounded.. the options are limitless. You'll probably get a few rashes of bacon instead of a stick of celery for breakfast if you spend the night.

More often than not, you'll be treasured by those out of your league and treated like shit by those who are in your league. Leagues become apparent when you ask yourself if you want a movie star, or want to be treated like one! No matter what shape or form you take.

Amen to that.

Dont ever ask people this question again. They may give you bullshit answers because they are not up to the truth. Yes there are leagues. These are a composite of how we present. It a thousand computations that give an impression. Realise that whatever your looks, if you fly into a bar oozing quality with a girl on each arm, youre going to be higher up that percieved scale than if you just arrive on your own and look fidgety. What I'm saying is you can probably alter yourself on the 1 to 10 scale by at least three points either side of your looks dependant on behaviour. Its actually sick when you realise girls are sizing you up based on your rank and percieved position within the group of males or the group as a whole. They are looking for survival value, whether they know it or not. They are looking for power, ease, quality, assuredness and success. Dont ever believe them when they predictably say they are not. The other stuff is just bonus, being nice or whatever.

With regard to the league thing I just dug this thread up. I personally go for people I think will like me and not turn me down, people who I consider to be on a level with me looks wise. I know some of you will think thats stupid and it doesnt mean that if a very attractive man took an interest in me I wouldnt go for it!

Yes, if you go into 'mod threads' at the top of the page and then into deleted threads you will see it there. Dont think we're supposed to put those kind of threads on here.

vvv I think its threads asking for advice we're not supposed to do but I thought it was ok and it got a good response. You'd have to ask a mod why it was deleted.

With regard to the league thing I just dug this thread up.

Therefore highlighting the redundancy of the newer thread, for which it was reported and deleted.

My 'take' on leagues is that they are only relevant to sport, not to socialising/dating.

Whilst I don't think anyone is actually 'out of my league', I am sure there are many who consider themselves to be.
If a very attractive woman starts to take an interest in me then I get rather suspicious of their motives. Not that many attractive ladies do show an interest in me of course.
Many years ago when I was a DJ, and in a couple of minor bands, although one of them did support U2 most were very obscure, I did get a huge amount of interest from very very attractive young ladies. Perhaps that is where my cynical side developed from.

I agree. I'd never consider anyone out of my league in terms of socialising or dating. Whether they feel that I am out of theirs is up to them to decide.

That wasnt my intention. The thread deleted wasnt really about leagues and I certainly didnt report it - Ive never reported a thread in all the time Ive been here and I was here for a couple of years in the past.

I apologise to the op of the thread that was deleted if that is the case.

I am a bit disappointed that it got deleted, we were having a good conversation on there, and although this thread has a similar subject, we were approaching it from a different angle so i don't find this thread so relevant to what we were discussing.
