Might even get out your favorite belt
toss it back with some smelt
turn on a game that don't really matter
listen to has-been announcers chatter
make a bet with some of yer chums
don't worry at all about spreadding bums
a plumb time will be had by all
who cares if they use a puck or a ball

Who cares if they use a puck or a ball
As long as they throw in their heart
And give it their all
Hockey is our Canadian dream
If you’re a leafs fan though
Forever it seems
Actually years have passed and as the season grew
Interest was lost because you really knew
That money was the game not the boy out on the pond
Please just bring the cup back to Canada
Show the spring in your swing
And forgiveness will be felt in the song.

forgiveness will be felt in the song
sung from the winners' podium
after waiting seasons long
to disperse defeat and odium
but remember the journey and value it
every loss essential to winning
each challenge adding to inner strength
very ending a new beginning

every ending a new beginning
lines made distinct in words
that in reality are blurred
just a mindset smudged in
like pastel drawn shapes
from which to make faces
and imagine the story
all through your eyes
what is it that you see
interpreted by memory
nothing new can ever be
meaningful without thought
and every idea in your mind
has elements of times before
what you see now is what you saw
a new coat but the same war
 a rose is a rose...

a new coat but the same war
but what are we fighting for?
don't know when it went all wrong
but it's been that way for far too long
have faith that the tides will turn
at least that is what i yearn

at least that is what i yearn
I'd get me humongous yacht
Being poor I've forgot
If I had lots of money to burn

at least that is what i yearn
I'd live in a humongous mansion
Wouldn't worry bout' a pension
If I had lots of money to burn

If I had lots of money to burn
I'd spend it instead on the things that I yearn
for in my fantasies and wildest dreams
where all that glitters is just what it seems
I'd sail the world with the love of my heart
Play in Galapagos just for a start
Tonga's appealing and so is Fiji
Set sail for the Spanish coast just him and me
Serifos Island with wine poured for two
soaking the sunset with a whole world view
taking the port side and play with intent
knowing our destiny is truly meant
to share in the love, for we do know it's worth
we'll travel the beauty of this great planet Earth

we'll travel the beauty of this great planet Earth
upon a ship of calico sail
watching the birds from our lofty perch
high in the crows nest our courage never fail
as we search for the writings left on cave walls
expanding our minds as the temptation calls
to strip off our clothes and dive into the sea
alone in our travels my ship mate and me

alone in our travels my ship mate and me
sailing the billows of the seventh sea
clouds guide the limelight through coconut haze
sun shines forever and moon lights the days
playful as proposes dancing new waves
exploring pink coral in deep sea caves
ancient mariners the sea turtles tale
tell true the stories from whence they hale
briny blue mysteries taste ocean true
guiding our destinies all the way through

guiding our destinies all the way through
wondering if the nightmares inhibiting my dreams
are meant to help or hinder my journey
is this inner voice whispering in the night
calling out to all the elements within me
earth, wind, fire and water
I wake up in a sweat
Feeling an all encompassing dread
That I am meant to do more
To heal the world around me
Before my seasons have ended
In this sojourn of my own making.

In this sojourn of my own making
Perchance a chance to stop and dream
Lay my head upon a pillowed breast
Looking upward ever after sunny skies
Reflected sincerely in a lovers eyes
To gaze and daze amidst Summer haze
Waste away and idle wild
Till Fall breezes beget a Winter's chill
Summer now all but a memory still
Perchance a chance to stop and dream
Looking upward ever after sunnier skies

edit...
Looking upward ever after sunnier skies
counting out loud all our own alibies
In this sojourn of my own making,
in this fateful undertaking
holding faith with all that's right
I sink into the darkest night
bombs are falling young men cry
women watch their children die
mass starvation dim the glow
as all of earth mourns what we sow
whales convulsing dolphins moan
the trees let loose collective groan
lightning flashes fires ignite
volcanoes interrupt the night
Madmen muster failing power
held right up the card of tower
pain and suffering held as grace
revenge the keeper of saving face
political allies and business at hand
while toxins seep right into the land
nightmares continue with gnashing of teeth
holding hostage all nations belief
suffer little children if you ask for more
here come the horsemen to even the score
I come up for air from the deep underworld
Persephone answers with papyrus unfurled
Hope is the answer and love is the way
Enlighten the living to hold death at bay
Practicing kindness and following peace
and then from this madness we all can release

Practicing kindness and following peace
and then from this madness we all can release
but is this a false illusion?
That good can overcome evil
Love can heal all wounds
Happiness is the medium we seek

Inside it’s what counts
It is through a balanced life
Old wounds healed and put to rest
Forgiveness for the sadness
That was out of our control
Before we gave ourselves permission
To smile as the sun rises over the trees
Daybreak awakening our most basic instincts
To breathe in all of the gifts granted us this day
Each day one moment blending into the next
Being aware of how we are perceived
And each miracle that manifests it’s blessings
Upon us.

upon us
sun shines
rain falls
thoughts weigh

above us
the sun
the clouds
enlightenment

behind us
lightness
darkness
memory

before us
hope
fear
uncertainty

with us
most things
momentarily
but love eternally
 a rose is a rose...

burning all in sight
walking through the promised land
skin becomes white
charred beyond recognition

charred beyond recognition
heart shredded in miniscule
pieces
unable to reach out
drowning in agony
seeking
searching
for a sign

searching for a sign
placed in front yard, "House for sale!"
looking for new home
now that I'm on my own
It will be for me
I want it in a tree
in a tree house
I can be me!

bought us lots of weird stuff
gave hugs and kisses too

She let us on our own
whe we needed to go and play
she brought us a snacky
in the middle of the day

hey hey

mama sun is number one
a bag of fun and a day

i want to spend my life that way
breathing in with a smile

each moment
like it's my last not
having regrets
for the past is past
water under the bridge
of time
on warp speed
between molasses
and the celebrity dancing down the road
waving his arms and spacially clearing
his vacuum
before obsolete
with obsessive fever
or over heating the small two stroke
motorola zoom zoom

away
he flys
moment to moment

he dances
down the winding sunny-brook road

to meet his muse
in the great out there
 a rose is a rose...
