| *~*TORONTO SOCIAL GATHERERS*~* Wednesday September 5th @ the Wise Guys on the Danforth Posted: 9/3/2007 4:50:23 PM | Heck, I know no one, so let me at 'em... I could be part of crowd control, but who will control me???
 11 away from 100!!!
FYI: Wise Guys told me that they DO NOT accept credit cards, so for all you Air Miles Collectors, be prepared to use the ancient currency called cash. I tend to spend alot more when running up a tab with my card, so I'll be on a tight budget this night, being that I only carry enough cash to buy a stick of emergency gum.
Yes, year books is a fun way to laugh at ourselves and we can compare how we've "matured" over the decades. Well some of us, anyway.
Orders for Fruit cake, double chocolate and Black Forest... wow.... I've got a sugar rush already!

| *~*TORONTO SOCIAL GATHERERS*~* Wednesday September 5th @ the Wise Guys on the Danforth Posted: 9/3/2007 6:05:23 PM | @ kathy_green_eyes........I started these get togethers in January this year and the intent was to give people an opportunity to go out and socialize in an informal and safe setting. It also gives people a chance to meet other singles.....make some new friends.......and possibly have a few laughs to improve maybe a difficult week.
This particular tavern doesn't have music and dancing but possibly the next location we gather at might
feel free to brings friends along

| *~*TORONTO SOCIAL GATHERERS*~* Wednesday September 5th @ the Wise Guys on the Danforth Posted: 9/3/2007 6:23:49 PM | Hi. I'm really GLAD there isn't music and dancing... I really DO NOT like dancing with strange guys, especially the slow dances.. It's that whole strange guys getting into my comfort zone and holding close.. no... uh-uh. I save that kind of intimate dancing for my special someone only.
I prefer to sit and talk.
I dont' mind getting up and dancing with a "group" to a couple of oldies, but.. doing the conga, bunnyhop or line dance... ummmmmm noooo.
Sit, yes. Talk, yes. Laugh, yes. Eat, yes. Drink, yes. Get loud and get tossed out of a club.... ummm, uhhh,
This to me is perfect for a newbie, just talking with others and getting to know them without the pressure or diversion of having to dance with people you don't know.
Besides, we can make our own music... I'm bringing songbooks, and we will be making our mirth and merriment as we browse through your yearbooks!
<== in anticipation

Just show up and find the hostess with the mostest cakes and get comfy. I think all the newbies are going to be shy at first, but we'll be in caring hands. Fine me, Angel, Jandan, or lemon squares lady Amuised, for comfort food and assist.
You don't have to bring anything but yourself. Just come as you are... (unless you're sitting nekkie in front of the computer. No no put some clothes on! this isn't a come-as-you-are party, hee hee)
As for them lemon squares, bring 'em on!! Some of us have to lay off sugars and lemons are very alkaline.. great for the balance in the olde bod! MMmm lemon~~*
5 away from 100...
One more sleep...
Press the button and come on out, people!

| *~*TORONTO SOCIAL GATHERERS*~* Wednesday September 5th @ the Wise Guys on the Danforth Posted: 9/4/2007 5:46:27 PM | Fuzzy2 - I have been wracking my brain trying to figure out what the bar used to be called and you did it!!!! The Wembly. As I recall, used to be called the Weebly Wobbly Wembly because all the patrons who left were doing that indulgence stagger, lmao! Thanks a million!!!! You know how it is when you try to remember something and can't (hmmm, aging myself on that comment, lol)!
Royal Lady - I will do a cursory look, but pretty sure the yearbooks are somewhere in the boxes in the bsmt, lol, will try and find one to bring!
As it sits, I am good to go and looking forward to meeting you all. Barring natural disaster (or boss & workload), I will be there!
Very much looking forward to meeting you all! | |

| *~*TORONTO SOCIAL GATHERERS*~* Wednesday September 5th @ the Wise Guys on the Danforth Posted: 9/4/2007 5:52:33 PM | Who can sleep tonight? me.. I can... why? cuz I'm having some Granny Clampett *sleepin' medicine* (not rheumatism this night).
Actually, I'm trying a brand new red wine from Spain, Sangre de Toro ... I got for the 10 Air Miles and the cute little black bull ornament. I'll sleep fine. real fine.
Don't worry about yearbooks, mine are in a box in the basement somewhere too...
Now we are 105, and if some of us bring a couple guests, you realise that we will have more than 105, yah? did my third eye not see we would hit that 100 mark? huh huh huh? You can pay the royal psychic in beer or red Savingnon depending on how the tummy has healed. Of course payments in cakes and wings will be accepted as well. hee hee. heck... a smile works too!
Tormorrow will be a blast!!
Woohoo!! 105 are at the door, and if they bring their friends, and they bring their friends, and so on and so on and so on...

| *~*TORONTO SOCIAL GATHERERS*~* Wednesday September 5th @ the Wise Guys on the Danforth Posted: 9/5/2007 10:18:47 AM | Hi Luvlylady, although I'm new and never been to one of these gatherings, if it's anything like some house parties, people come early, they leave early, people come late, they leave late. Smokers tend to congregate together, so maybe the evening will bend and flow quite nicely. Lilene, judging by the profiles, there's plenty of fish spanning (or spawning) a few generations, so worry not! I'm sure there's a wizzened over 50 fella or two in the crowd. I think I invited a few too! As for age, umm, my last boyfriend (my first relationship in 27yrs) was 14 yrs younger than me ... and ummm well.... ummm.... let's just say, sometimes age has no boundaries... Mind you, Baby Boomers tend to understand one another better, so yeah... there are benefits to all of it... sticking to the school you know without going down a few grades. Wooop.. a fishpun... It's Skool Daze, and here we are a school of fish soon to be floundering in a crowded kettle of chowder.... wooo hooo. I know what I'll be having for dinner tonight. Wild salmon fillet, grilled with herb & lemon. (I might have to have that at home... not sure if it's on the menu at WG).
mmmm
See you guys whenever... I think I'll be early, maybe 6:30 to help, since no one has called me to work tonight... I can come earlier if you like, Angel. It's not far from me!
PS: Since it's a Skool Days theme, if anyone wears a kilt (school uniform) I promise to sing a few rounds of "The Scotsman"... it's quite bady, lots of fun to sing, and makes even men blush!
Cheers, A~* | |
