| Annoying Advertisements Posted: 12/29/2007 6:32:39 PM | On the spider ad, if none of us get what it's about it would appear the ad agency needs to rethink it.
I've been seeing it for 4 days and only now, in this forum, found out what it's about.

| Annoying Advertisements Posted: 12/29/2007 6:57:46 PM | | Read messages #9 & #11 of this thread and they give you the solutions on how to block these ads. That way you wouldn't have to see them again. | |
|
| Annoying Advertisements Posted: 12/30/2007 12:33:27 AM | It wouldn't be so bad if the AD didn't pop up every other profile view Why be annoyed and continuously find yourself aggravated coming back to this Thread protesting yet another objectionable advertising Issue that irritates you?

I like some ads. I don't feel like banning them all With the Adblock extension for Firefox, you can block the images you really don't like and leave all the rest. So if you like the naughty escort ads you can still see them while at the same time being saved the distress of the disturbing spider ad.

You are evil.
As for the "distress" the thread is here to report "annoying" ads. If you don't have interest in what ads are annoying us, don't click. There are people that are not members who might never BE members if they click on a profile and see certain things. So read into my "distress" all you like but keep in mind I'm one of many thousands and as most CSR know, it is only 1 in 10 that have a complaint that actually say anything. I could provide a link on my profile to this thread and I'm sure you'd hear from more.
People who don't read the forums won't have the benefit of such sage wisdom, therefore I think this is a good thread since it is one of the ways we sensitive types can provide feedback. Whether the powers that be do anything with it is their call.

I hate spiders.
Oh, well, no one's perfect!
I actually like spiders. Very inappropriate for a dating site, though. Like, I like onions, but in the right place. It'd be pretty out-of-place having onions in, say, my double-scoop-maple/nut/fudge ice cream, f'r instance.

| Annoying Advertisements Posted: 12/30/2007 4:05:42 PM | As for the "distress" the thread is here to report "annoying" ads. And the Reason for that is to effect Remedies, otherwise you wouldn't be reporting here.
No one is trying to tell you not to view Advertising, that's entirely your Choice.
The Posts I made above pose immediate, effective and selective Remedies, but you are always free to work with the Site's Advertising Process and wait if/until something gets done.
If no one wants to hear, I suppose the thread could be locked.
People who don't read the forums won't have the benefit of such sage wisdom, therefore I think this is a good thread since it is one of the ways we sensitive types can provide feedback. No one disagreed with the Existence of this Thread or banning Advertising, nor asked for it to be locked/removed.
| You posed that Consideration in the first Place, and then made comment on your own Proposal. |

| Report Here any Annoying or Offensive Advertisements (NOT Profiles) Posted: 1/5/2008 10:38:59 AM | Oasis dating ad has taken over my email *Sent Messages* area. When I go to see if an email has been read in my SENT box, all I see is Oasis Dating sites huge ad there instead of my messages that I sent. Grrrrr!!! I have flash player disabled, and also ad blocker installed. I just checked it and now its NaughtyorNice there. Rotating ads inside my messages box, now that is definately annoying!!! Update: It just changed to Phillipines Chat and then Singles Dating site.

| Offensive Posted: 1/5/2008 10:50:45 PM | With regards to selection of 'gifts' that we can choose from, I find the woman in lingerie to be ridiculous. First of all, if I'm sending a guy a gift, am I really going to send him a picture of some OTHER gorgeous woman. No.
And secondly, it's just plain low class and seems a little too smutty for what I've come to expect from POF.
This thread is for offensive or annoying ads. If you want to voice your displeasure over the "gift" there is already a thread in progress on it here --> New Flirt Gift Use your FORUM Thread Search Tool to seek out existing "on topic" discussions - thanks.

The dinging 'you have won a prize' box. GET IT OFF!
Ditto. I didn't look at the source but it has three clickable check boxes at the bottom of the ad. The freakin thing dings until you get off the page. It was on my initial sign-in page (Inbox), but didn't reappear when I went back to the inbox.

| Annoying ad box's Posted: 1/8/2008 3:35:29 PM | The "you have 17 new messages" one for some dating site is really annoying!!
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr | |

beeping my computer and i dont like it

| Annoying ad box's Posted: 1/8/2008 4:48:33 PM | | I agree. The ones that make sound (like the beeping one) are very annoying. | |
|
| Annoying ad box's Posted: 1/8/2008 11:42:13 PM | When I'm viewing profiles, right beside the POF user's main photo is a doubleyourdating ad with a little blonde tartlet in red, sitting with her legs wide open and her hand in her lap(top) ...
I find this very annoying.

| Annoying ad box's Posted: 2/25/2008 10:28:03 AM | | I'm sure it wouldn't bother some folks, but the connexion ad with one hot guy laying on top of another isn't too appealing. Maybe there's a way to get it to show up on the guy looking for guy pages but not girl looking for guy...definitely not appealing. | |
|
| Annoying Advertisements Posted: 3/10/2008 11:43:32 AM | I DO NOT LIKE SEEING HALF NAKED WOMEN AT THE BOTTOM OF THE INSTANT MESSENGER WHILE I"M TALKING TO SOMEONE>
PLEASE REMOVE THIS AD AS IT IS HORRIBLY OFFENSIVE TO WOMEN

| Annoying Advertisements Posted: 3/29/2008 12:57:14 PM | | Hyundai Ad. A guy walks out of the ad to the left of the main profile pic and stands right in the center of the main profile pic. I was reporting a big willie shot and did not click on the talking man, but at least an inch from him. I still activated the control and a new window popped up to help me buy a Hyundai. | |
|
| Annoying Advertisements Posted: 6/15/2008 5:24:16 PM | Okay...did anybody else notice that on many profiles, when you go to mouse over the rest of their pictures, the ad beside their main pic blocks the view?
So that if you do want to see their pictures, you have to click it up to the main pic, therefore rendering the mouse over function useless??
And before anyone asks, that is in fact the one and only problem I have in my entire life at the moment, but I don't know how much longer I can go on living this way but dang it, I will try my very best not to despair and to hold on just a little bit longer.

| Annoying Advertisements Posted: 6/24/2008 4:36:33 PM | I would really like to know why PAYING DATING sites are being advertized on POD anyhow!!
I find it annoying! That is why i am here, so i dont PAY! I have NEVER paid for a date,....
One time i signed a "pretrial" so i could send an EMAIL to a gal who lived close to me and she seemed to have all the ideas and thoughts in life that i do, ! Since i have way more male friends than female, i thought it would be neat to meet her since we lived in the same town. That is the ONLY time i ever paid a site....and OH , i dont think i had to pay cuz it was trial for 2 weeks. LOL
btw, Turned out we lived 2 streets away and our kids go to the same school and we attend the same YMCA!!!and we are great friends!

| Annoying Advertisements Posted: 6/24/2008 5:03:28 PM | I hate the eharmony ads that says something like click here to see my even better ads on eharmony, right to the right of my profile and everyone else's some days
to the point that my name says: paige® : I do NOT have eharmony- damn ads
