| | Report Here any Annoying or Offensive (Ads) Advertisements (NOT Profiles)Page 4 of 5 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) | I'd like to address this newest and most annoying POP in ad's that are occurring in the middle of everything on POF.
I've actually had these pop up ad's happen in the middle of creating a forum post. While I am keying in my response - suddenly the entire screen is filled with a huge pop up that offers me a limited time only ultimate POF platinum membership.... I've also had it happen multiple times this morning alone from other singles sites and some network ad but Fruitti net???? Which actually made itself my HOME PAGE on my pc.
This is invasive and offensive and I am really disliking it.
While I can admire Markus for his skill when it comes to creating a living breathing and paying entity which generates money for him personally like a wild thing - this commercialization of this site is really very annoying.
Please please please make it stop!

| AD WARNING: do not order "Single Mom Teeth Whitening" free trial offer from POF ad banner... Posted: 9/17/2009 6:13:09 PM | This ad is a scam: please check this site for all the complaints about "Dazzle Smile" and I'm sure you'll find that the other "free sample" offer will be a similar type of credit card/consumer scam, designed to cause you no end of grief...
http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/dazzle-smile-c255149.html
The moral of the story is: if something sounds "too good to be true" it probably is, however, it's up to YOU to do your homework: BUYER BEWARE.
For years I have resisted clicking on ads which appear on POF (or any site, although I understand it's how sites pay their bills.) Today I gave it a whirl, but luckily I did my homework before filling out my CC information.
Whew!
Dodged a bullet. | |

| AD WARNING: do not order Single Mom Teeth Whitening free trial offer from POF ad banner... Posted: 9/24/2009 2:07:16 AM | I think it's about time for EVERYONE to realize that it is NEVER a good idea to buy anything over the web - or ever, ever give any credit card info without signed receipts. Sounds extreme, some may say, but the world wide cesspoolis rally not safe. Any reputable vendor or service can be contacted by phone or mail once you've decided to order.
Also - if you haven't given a signed order, you should be able to have your credit card company reverse the charges and penalize the vendor. Why isn't this working with the Dazzle-type ripoffs? ED BEAR

| AD WARNING: do not order Single Mom Teeth Whitening free trial offer from POF ad banner... Posted: 10/5/2009 3:59:28 AM | POF advertisers, that are advertisers the teeth whitening system and teh shape your body are both SCAMS. If you click on there links you notice they take you to a fake blog whihc you cant even write a comment on because its fake.
If you sign up to these companies, they automatically sign you up to 5 other companies which all charge your credit card each month! And even if you cancel your subscription whihc you automatically get signed up for with a order of there "trial" products they charge you for 3 months.
So if any of you have fallen for this IMMEDIATELY cancel you DEBIT/CREDIT CARDS, open up a dispute with your bank also to get any charges refunded.
WHY would POF have a company like this on there site go to http://www.teethwhiteningreviews.com/item.php?id=52 to learn more about this scam and how its affecting people.
I never got scammed thank good ness, because when something is too good to be true usually is, so I investigated it first and sure enough
I hope this helps some people out and I sure hope POF takes off there stupid FAKE SCAM ADS
Pretty much every ad i have seen on this site is a SCAM, they need NEW ADVERTISING!

| Smoke51/E-Cig Scam Posted: 10/12/2009 11:12:14 AM | Just happened to log in today and noticed this latest scam as an ad. It claims it's an electronic cig that allow you to "smoke without the smoke". It's a scam, just like 99% of these ads that are proliferating here.
If you accept their "free" trial offer, you'll be dinged $9.95 immediately and have to wait. IF you do finally get your order, you'll also be billed $89.95 + $29.95 for your efforts. In order to return the product it specifies that you need an RMA number. But no one that I have researched has ever been successful at getting an RMA as there are NO NUMBERS available to call. The ONE they do use immediately tells you to email such and such address. Then THAT email tells you to email another...and another...and another. Remember, this is to get an RMA to return the product.
There is no customer service and in the fine print it tells you that the whole company is electronic and there are no human beings/no human interaction.
I understand that ads are what makes this site free...and I get that they are supposedly auto generated...but to pander these ads with no discretion makes this site seem unscrupulous. Just interested in the "suckers" and the "whales" out there to keep someone rolling in money.
There are thousands of ads available from reputable sources (see: non scammers). Makes me wonder why the brass here hasn't followed that route, and elected the shadier side instead. Does the brass really have no pride for their creation now that it's making them millions? Who cares where they get the money from?
?
People should know better than to click any miracle cure ad, or something that promises so much for very little...but let's face it, there's too many that are just that naive that they'd try anyways. Generating revenue off the back of phony scam based ads that lead to these milking outfits is just sad. Pennies earned per view or clickthrough that result in hundreds of lost dollars to those that viewed or clicked through.
No I wasn't a victim - I prefer a smoking smoke thanks...
This ad should be eliminated. Bury it in the trash where it belongs.

| Report Here any Annoying/Scam or Offensive (Ads) Advertisements (NOT Profiles) Posted: 10/12/2009 4:42:43 PM | | The video ads with sound that appear to the right of profile photos are really annoying. I have to turn my computer speakers off to get rid of the sound. And they block viewing some of the thumbnail pics if the thumbnails are located below the ad. These are too intrusive - or at least the location should be altered so that it doesn't reduce the functionality of the site. And it would be nice if the noise could be turned off. | |

| Actually, its your IE8 that is letting that happen. |
Use the Firefox Browser with Adblock to permanently get rid of these Nuisances, and so you won't be back here again whining about yet another Piece of Malware you picked up from Someplace. |

| Fraudulent POF Advertiser Dazzlewhite Posted: 12/9/2009 6:37:33 PM | Please check out this information regarding a scam that I am a victim of...... the deal: pay a nominal charge of a dollar for a sample of a tooth whitening product. Give them your credit card number, and in no time at all there are over $400 in bogus charges from this company. Not only that, but I cancelled my credit card, was issued a new card, and they still managed to charge the new card!!! I don't know how they did this, but I wanted to warn you so it doesn't happen to you or your friends, family..............
It goes by different names, but Dazzle White is one of them: Here is a site where you can see I'm not the only person who was scammed by them: http://www.complaintsboard.com/?search=Dazzle+White&everything=Everything

| 360 Grants - Is Your Income under $25,000? Posted: 3/31/2010 3:56:07 AM | What is up with all the pop ups when you click certain links? Like Viewed Me, 1 login, profiles thumbnails and so on. The things take up the entire screen regardless of what the browser is set to and I have to watch it or find the stupid opt out button.
These things are majorly annoying and just need to go away.

| Report Here any Annoying/Scam or Offensive (Ads) Advertisements (NOT Profiles) Posted: 5/18/2010 2:33:30 PM | well, I've found my stool for the afternoon!
does aarp go clear up into canada? I'm pretty sure they haven't done a pof ad yet. I should prolly become a lobbiest for 'em. All the gals above my mail would surely join. Got a chart on that trap?
How many of you have actually been to a pof party? Now, I've got a link to click to advertise on pof. That and teen models from the islands telling me that I'd look good with them on me. I figure I would. Who wouldn't? yanno?
you notice I'm writing so it fits the current format? y'all know you can do that? I think only one gal on the whole bytch thread noticed that. I think I'll marry her.. nothing more sexy than a proof reader sans spellcheck they even look great in spandex
I want to report an ad crime. This where I do it? I got one ad for that 2k weed that I've never tried but heard about. I read that the authorities are still confused. Why does that show up when about the same time I'm s'posed to adopt a russian wife who's half philipino which was spelled wrong in the ad too if you really wanna know.. I'm guessing there aren't a whole bunch of wine tasters in my age bracket and location. What's that called again? demographics? something like that..
demi moore had it all thought out, huh.. demi graphics
I'm still not sure if she sent her boobies out to get detailed or reman'd. Seems to be the only place she puts on weight. I guess that's kinda catty, huh.
Smack a russian gal upside the head and she's cool with it. Try that with a native american woman. I'd invest in helmets about that point. just stock market advice.
edit: I even got an edit in

it's an ad for Viagra, Cialis, etc. which leads to a web site www.qzmeds.com
Here's a clue for future ad sign-ups from pharmacies: Any legit online pharmacy isn't going to advertise on POF! The list is very short: http://drugs.about.com/od/costofdrugs/a/trust_online_rx.htm
Does POF do any quality control before it takes an ad? Or do you expect us to report the bad ads here?

| Report Here any Annoying/Scam or Offensive (Ads) Advertisements (NOT Profiles) Posted: 9/28/2010 4:55:49 AM | I run Mozilla Firefox and NoScript.
I never get ads I don't deliberately allow. Every script is set up in the "off" mode.... no site can load anything (including ads) unless I go out of my way to allow them.
TA DA... no ads. Flashing or otherwise.
Ofcourse, there are many sites that will not allow me access unless I turn on their ads... for those... I don't need to go to those sites anyway... nothing lost.

I run Mozilla Firefox and NoScript. I never get ads I don't deliberately allow. Every script is set up in the "off" mode.... no site can load anything (including ads) unless I go out of my way to allow them. Me too - I use both those plug-ins on Firefox. Sadly, there's nothing similar when I visit POF through Safari on my iPodTouch. I don't care about flashing ads, but unethical ones get my goat, especially since the guy who runs this site is rolling in the dough.
http://www.inc.com/magazine/20090101/and-the-money-comes-rolling-in.html
POF could use some of the revenue it earns off the advertisers to pay someone to verify the legitimacy of the ads, rather than relying on us to complain here...
|
| Report Here any Annoying/Scam or Offensive (Ads) Advertisements (NOT Profiles) Posted: 10/25/2010 11:49:45 PM | None of this excuses that PoF continues to run ads for scams exposed over a year ago, and still run by the same outfits in exactly the same form.
Why would anyone imagine that anything advertised in a web pop-up would be anything other than a criminal fraud? Just assume they're all crooks and you will be almost paranoid enough. ED BEAR
