I hear ya. My ex owned his own business....harley parts everywhere, not to mention there was always a harley parked in the kitchen. I haven't been on a bike since my son was born....that mortality thing - so so so true.

Guess I got 'off topic' with my last post. I should have been more specific.

If I were to get on the back of a motorcycle- harley or not - of course it would matter
who the 'person' was in the drivers seat!

I was thinking more about 'looking' at the bike rather than 'riding' the bike

This reminds me of a conversation I had recently with an elderly friend in his 70's, a widower.

He was saying that when he was a young buck, and still single, there was something interesting. Cadillac convertibles were a sure fire thing for picking up the ladies. Fellows would cruise the main street in that city in Alberta and after pulling over to the curb it wouldn't be long before the gals would come over and strike up a conversation.

So my friend who come down that same street with his big Harley motorcycle and invariably would attract the gals away from the Caddys over to him. He said usually he and his buddy on bikes would driving off, each with a lady companion.

What puzzled him why the Harleys were so much effective at luring the ladies than the Caddy convertibles.

I suggested it might have something to do with the bad boy image of a bike rider... or perhaps the vibration of the big V-twin

it is not about money ,possessions or trying to be a bad boy ,,but to meet others who have a passion for life and aren't sitting on the sidelines ..you said you rode a few years ..you obviously lost the passion to ride ..or haven't been lucky enough to ride with a group who haven't ..

the motorcycle attracts outgoing people or people who long to become outgoing and have some fun again .... ,,a nice jet ski will do the same thing ,everyone will notice a beautiful girl on the back of a motorcycle ,or more if she is on her own ,,it dose not mean there aren't more beautiful girls on the same road in cars ,,but you have to admit when you see someone go past on a nice polished shiny bike you give them an envious look ,,unless its raining ,,, we put up a picture and talk about things we enjoy ..thats all.

NOT

I look at them and wonder how long they will still have two legs for...

...there is a reason they are called 'donorcycles'

for those who don't understand.....................it gets in your blood. the true riders get wet , eat bugs , get cold and still love the open road , the wind and the sound(not to mention the vibration) you feel free, complete and at peace. when you cant ride you get a surge of thrill at the sound of the bikes. I was in Sturgis for the 50th and thunder alley vibrated. I cant describe the thrill. Its in my blood, came from my grandfather who, in his youth rode an old indian.

<<<< never understands

I did plenty of biking in my teen / 20s. Arranged and participated in bike rallys in college which were fun was lucky that i didn't fell but many fell during the rally. Beside helmet and basic gloves nobody wore fancy leather pants/jackets. Have driven bikes in a group on long open roads and have also driven bikes fast zig-zag through congested city roads. Have even towed/pulled a broken friends bike with mine. Have also driven many times offroad and sometimes in rain for picnic's. Wish I had a jeep that time as that i could drive through water streams and over the rocks easily. Driving a heavy harley in straightline appears pretty Boring to me. To me getting a thrill by just riding a harley is a novice stuff for thrill seekers. Open your car window or drive a convertible and you can feel the cold wind in your face. If you fancy leather pants and jacket then nobody stopping you wear one while driving a car.
Those who enjoy adventure usually have a pickup truck with a dirt bike in the back.

We would much rather go 50 kms. out of our way for a good twisty road than do 20 kms on the slab(highway)You can't think like a car driver-from point A to point B. For us .....it's the journey ...NOT the destination. My "biker" friends (aged from 20's to 60's)go for a ride almost every Sunday. We've had as many as 50 bikes ,and as few as 3. We've had everthing from a scooter to a monster Rune with us....Whatever it is you do .....do it with passion! And when you're in you're cage.......keep an eye out for us.I too , have kids. One of my friends posted this a while back.It deserves an encore.Cheers

I saw you, hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line. But, you didn't see me, put an extra $10.00 in for the kids little league fund.

I saw you, pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk. But, you didn't see me, playing Santa at the local mall.

I saw you, change your mind about going into the restaurant. But, you didn't see me, attending a meeting to raise more money for the hurricane relief.

I saw you, roll up your window and shake your head when I drove by. But, you didn't see me, driving behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the car window.

I saw you, frown at me when I smiled at your children. But, you didn't see me, when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless.

I saw you, stare at my long hair. But, you didn't see me, and my friends cut ten inches off for Locks of Love.

I saw you, roll your eyes at our leather coats and gloves. But, you didn't see me, and my brothers donate our old coats and gloves to those that had none.

I saw you, look in fright at my tattoos. But, you didn't see me, cry as my children where born and have their name written over and in my heart.

I saw you, change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere. But, you didn't see me, going home to be with my family.

I saw you, complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be. But, you didn't see me, when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane.

I saw you, yelling at your kids in the car. But, you didn't see me, pat my child's hands, knowing he was safe behind me.

I saw you, reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road. But, you didn't see me, squeeze my wife's leg when she told me to take the next turn.

I saw you, race down the road in the rain. But, you didn't see me, get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date.

I saw you, run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time. But, you didn't see me, trying to turn right.

I saw you, cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in. But, you didn't see me, leave the road.

I saw you, waiting impatiently for my friends to pass. But, you didn't see me. I wasn't there.

I saw you, go home to your family. But, you didn't see me. Because, I died that day you cut me off.

I was just a biker. A person with friends and a family. But, you didn't see me.

I hope you never lose someone that rides. Have a great week my friends.

Yeah, why are so many bikers on POF anyway? It used to be that guys tried to hook women by talking about the size of their noses or how big their feet were, which was supposed to be an indication/hint of how big their other "appendage" was. Perhaps times have changed & guys have replaced the noses & feet hook with Harleys ... you know, the bigger & more impressive the bike, the bigger & more impressive they are in that other department. Unless the bikes are a compensation for a lack thereof.

wrong girly..if anyone ever talked about feet and such they were hinting about getting some sex talk into the conversation And about the Bike ??.the only lack of that matters is the size of the girls ass on the back ,,the passenger seat is a small one

Hey Kilted, i bet you never spilled a drop, did ya........ what's with this biker bashing thread anyways, we are just people that have a common interest, and wish to meet people with the same, is that so bad.

I have noticed the OP seems to be trying to stir it up, a comment about "Middle Aged Crazies" and the last post about men not riding on the back seat.

Yes there are exceptions to any group that you wish to pick, but to the OP, Not all of us should be lumped into the same pile. We all do what makes us happy!

Check out the TOYS FOR TOTS run in October, upwards of 30 thousand "Bikers" doing something for the community.

No idea why guys post it as their main lead but I don't mind either I love a nice bike, and if the guy who rides it, happens to be decent, then sure, I'll keep him as well *winks*

It took me a LONG time to get my Harley and it is very much a part of me. I could care less if a woman thought less of me because I had my bike in my pic. What you see is what you get and there is no false advertising in that. Most bikers I know are the most real people you will meet!

Lucky you
