The motorcycle rider is the modern day cowboy, on an iron horse. It's instant cool, the clothes, the sound, slipping through the traffic, topping the hill and seeing ,,,,,,,, everything. No kids, radio, TV, stop for a coffee whenever, kickstand down next to the door, and we are special. Not everyone wants to or can do what we do. People in cars are in a cage, they need a lot of space, they are in a race to get somewhere, sometime soon and we are just going.
You can say same for the bicycle rider too...no cage, ..can stop anywhere,..no gas ,...slipping through the traffic, seeing and feeling everything.
If motorcycle is a modern day horse then car is a modern day chariot? What if you have a flat tire in middle of no where.

| Men and their Harley's Posted: 9/8/2007 2:28:20 PM | Ok, last time I checked, I'm female and since I started taking riding lessons this past spring, my profile has led with that (same as many of the guys). Why.......because it is my newest passion and I would really like to meet someone who shares this interest. If a picture is worth a 1000 words, this easily and effectively shows what I am interested in. In my case, it has nothing to do with showing off (it's small and an old beater to boot.....lol).
Must admit I'm rather surprised that not one person has said a single thing about the possibility of the the "middle aged crazies"
This comment has really made me stop and think about what led me to this......cause I could easily be considered in this category. For me, it was a combination of things and timing. I was fortunate to spend alot of time last summer with a friend who has a bike and we went everywhere on that bike. I used to ride alot (as a passenger) when I was a teenager and I had forgotten how much I loved it! I was talking with my 20 year old about how much fun it was and he said he would like to get his license. My son and have always been close and hung out together, so it was natural for us to talk about doing it together. Then this winter, one of the POF fishies got a group of us organized to take lessons together and the rest is history.
Learning to ride has little to do with trying to recapture my lost youth, rather it has become a personal challenge for me to overcome!

the possibility of the "middle aged crazies"
I've been doing this motorcycling since I was 14,it's not something I just started.
WE could generalize about any thread or subject.
Crazy .................you bet your butt................ .
|
| Men and their Harley's Posted: 9/8/2007 5:54:12 PM | Middle age crazy?.......... I'd have to get to 118 years old if I want to be a middle ager now. Plus I've been riding since I was a dispatch rider in the Signal Corp. That's over 40 years of riding. I don't slag the new riders, I welcome them. The road has room for everyone.
It's a typical female response to a male urge to categorize us as Peter Pans or middle age crazy. Get a grip woman, the wild man is unleashed, revel in it.

| Men and their Harley's Posted: 9/8/2007 8:09:00 PM | I'm looking for a guy that wants to ride BITTCH in the back of my VAN??!! | |
|
| Men and their Harley's Posted: 9/8/2007 11:52:32 PM | | can be use for a status symbol , lol like having a Hummer. Hey if is works to attract opposite sex , go for it. I wouldn't mind riding on a back of a harley. Just to feel the wind on your face and the freedom it brings, why not have a harlery. If you can afford it , go for it. My two cents worth from a passenger | |
|
| Men and their Harley's Posted: 9/9/2007 12:21:24 AM | | motor cycles are a sign of the sunshine and the beautiful sunsets, the freedom of the road with the sway of the curves and the extra embrace and the smiles as you enjoy the ride together (either 10n 1 0r 20n 1) its all in the adventure not the image. its the images to be seen on a motor cycle ....... just my 2 cents lol | |
|
| Men and their Harley's Posted: 9/9/2007 9:04:22 AM | | Yes, you got it....... good for you Dragonlady45....... i was smiling all the way down the sunshine coast yesterday with 14 of my closest friends, all enjoying what i do, and not one person to impress with my "ride"......it's all about the journey, and that smile on my face........ | |
|
| Men and their Harley's Posted: 9/9/2007 12:54:20 PM | Wow seems like a lot of Harley envy out there in play land. Ever wonder why so many Jap crap bikes make such a feeble attempt to "LOOK" like a harley?? I have riden just about every bike out there in the last 34 years from the slowest to the fastest. My last ride was a Harley FLH terrific ride on the hwy and a little heavy around town but (to me) and impressive ride all the same. Who gives a rat's arse about what other people think -- just have to please yourself. "THERE ARE OLD BIKERS AND BOLD BIKERS BUT NO OLD BOLD BIKERS" | |
|
| Men and their Harley's Posted: 9/10/2007 8:28:43 AM | real bikers are a rare bread...harley riders are a dime a dozen..........does'nt matter WHAT you ride.......it's THAT you ride. It's not the destination .......it's the journey!

| Men and their Harley's Posted: 9/11/2007 3:46:36 PM | ^^^ naaa Bonnie I think the above poster is saying the bikers can figure out what the problem with the bike and do know how to handle the nuts and bolts to fix a bike no matter what the cost. May have to do with the bike itself, once built any loose screw or bolt can be tightened unless lost. The size doesn't change, nor does the color and even the lights bulb can be replaced when in total darkness I think we need a Harley Robotgal for boyz to handle right | |
|
| Men and their Harley's Posted: 9/11/2007 6:39:48 PM | naah.. Bonnie.. not suggesting anything of the sort.. i'm sure everyone else can read between the lines.. and as for MountainLion... lol... ur just a poser... no idea 'bout old skool bikers.... i'm outta here... ride safe, now.. ya hear? | |

OP maybe it is the only good vibrations these old geezers can still get between their legs must be deeply a rooted thingy in many a mens psycho makeup. Ever noticed falling male potency, rising horsepower in the toys they drive and some use Harley's cuz the beer gut don't fit between the steering wheel and seat of the Porsche....ever wondered why the handlebars are curved back so far on the bikes???? And of course then there are some who have learned that showing off expensive toys lures in cheap 'n easy gals. See and here you thought all men can't think
You can think whatever you like....but you should save your breath, cause you'll need it to blow up your date.
and whatever you're riding...keep the rubber side down,
