A site I used a few years ago offered categories of weight ranges in pounds/kilograms, and then, "I broke the truckstop scale!" I always chose that one. I'll be damned if I'll be specific. All the categories offered here are subjective, as others have said. Look at my pictures, read my text. Move on if you like. If you don't like that someone chooses "Prefer Not To Say" then move on. In many cases it will be your loss because of your assumptions. Your moving on is NOT a loss for the person who "Prefer[s] Not To Say."

Body type should be based on the type of body you would catagorize yourself in. Other peoples opinions arent valid there because its your profile.

I agree with this up to a certain point. If a person is 75-100 lbs overweight and they put average or a few extra pounds on their profile, then they are clearly being dishonest about their body type.

Well, what dya know,.. another thinly disguised fat bash thread.
I'm listed as prefer not to say. I dont care to catagorise myself, precisely because I'm trying to avoid men who are hung up on body type. I've been very thin, slim, average, curvy, and BBW,.. it can change quite quickly with me, How I look this year, may not be how I'll look next year, as far as weight goes,.. so, i'm just filtering out people who need me to be a certain body type. In all honesty, its worked, because not one of the people who have wanted to meet me have asked for a full body shot or asked me about my weight. Not one. All were willing to meet on what they saw in the pics I do have up, and on the conversations we've had.
I do not know what my body shape will be in 10 years time.. I'm looking for a life partner,.. so if he's hung up on a certain body shape, then its best that I filter him out right now. I'm in no way ashamed or embarrassed about my body,.. I just dont want to be catagorised,.. especially as that catagory means very little to me. I dont even look at body types, thats how much I care. I know the original post and comments were from over a month ago, but I wanted to add my own opinion.

On my profile, I have selected 'Prefer not to Say'. Yes, it has to do with insecurities about my body. Whether you are rail thin, athletic, average, or fat, there are those who are not comfortable in their body. Just means you are striving for perfection, which, ultimately, is unattainable. But, speaking for myself, that does not mean we don't love ourselves.

It means we recognize that we are not perfect, which could mean that we are humble, or it could mean that we will be over critical of those around us.

It's imperitive you find out which one, through good old fashioned communication, and make a decision on whether you want to get to know a person further. Pictures will undoubtedly be exchanged, so a label of 'Prefer not to Say' is just that, I don't want to say that right now, let's see if we click first....

Their only being dishonest if they know better. Many over weight people are in such denial about their weight they truely feel they are "average".

I don't care if anything says "prefer not to say" as long as it's answered in the profile. If they want to have "prefer not to say" on the body, but have some great pictures that show their body, then who cares? If they want to say "prefer not to say" on their occupation, but state why, or hint at what they do in the profile? Then that's fine. If they say "prefer not to say" under marital status, they by god better be lining out exactly what their situation is in the profile....

dude I agree with you. Nothing makes me angrier than getting emails from girls who only show their faces in picture and put up "prefer not to say" for body type. It is significantly less attractive for a girl to try to deceive me because she has a nice smile, when all the while she is bigger than what I expected (and go for). False advertising doesn't justify your insecurities girls. If you are so embarrassed by how you look, then lose weight!

sexybrunette is right man. It is wrong to lie to people about how you look. It's bad enough to be a fat slob that doesn't take care of your body, but to lie about it is even worse

That is an excuse and a cop out to be fat. Have you seen John Morrison? Come on!

When I see "prefer not to say" on body type, I see it as the person being well aware of the fact that they are in fact over weight, but just don't feel like admitting it out right.

Case in point: several months ago, I met with someone from here who had that on his profile. He only had a couple of head shots. He had told me that he was a "little bit" heavier than he wanted to be and was on Weight Watchers. As one who has had a few extra pounds here and there, I understood. I met him, and he was well over 300 pounds on a 6 foot frame and that he told me that he was working on losing the weight because he had hid under it for years after being dumped by his fiance. We did not have an chemistry, but I do wish him well.

From your profile, Jimnasium:

"I am genuinely honest, open, and very caring."

From your posting:

"It's bad enough to be a fat slob that doesn't take care of your body, but to lie about it is even worse"

Denial, much?

I really don't see why all these people are freaking out about those of us who put prefer not to say under body type. What difference does it make so long as we have full body shots up?I have 7 full body shots and one up close to my face so i think that should give anyone with eyes a very good idea of my size.Seeing as i just got my camera 2 weeks ago then my pictures are very recent .

Prefer not to say is not an attempt to lie or deceive anyone . If it was under drug, marital status ,smoking ,or kids then yeah that would be me trying to lie about something . Seeing as i have answered all those questions and have pictures up then why would anyone give a darn if i have prefer not to say under body type.

It is not an attempt for me to lie to myself about the fact that i am fat . I know i am fat . I like myself as i am though and am not going to change. How fat i am is different to different people. To some men i am a friggin whale and should be led into a room with all the other fatties and gassed to death. To me i am chubby and if someone does not like it i really don't care .

Give me a break. I "prefer not to say" on my profile, and I'm far from being overweight.

Sometimes it's better not to form your own opinion. *eye roll*

The body type classifications on here are ridiculous.
I am not thin, and although I work out several times a week I probably will never have a body that I would consider athletic. I definitely do not consider myself to be average though. that is the one I chose because nothing else fit. I think I am going to go change it now. There is nothing about me that is average and I find the term, quite frankly, derogatory.
I think that curvy should definitely be an option as well as voluptuous. Maybe we should have 10 different body types to choose from, or 20.
BTW size 12 is the average size for a woman in the US. I loved the comment about if you are smaller than that you are below average.
I am going to go change mine right now.
If that makes some guy pass me by, he has saved both of us some time.
Not that he would have met me and thought I was not attractive but that I would have found out an a$$ he was.

Peace

You're only 21 jimnasium1986, there are plenty of things you still have to learn/experience. Psychoanalyzing the statement I made and crudely misinterpreting the meaning shows that.

Why does it matter?! Makes me want to bang my head on a wall!

Skinnier than a bean pole, curvy, chunky, bbw .. why does it matter?

Blah!

I look like a medieval bar wench. Boobs, waist, hips. I could probably stand to lose a few pounds but.. until I feel the need to do it because I want to look skinnier, I will not. I do not let public opinion determine what I do.

Good grief Charlie Brown! As a woman of size, do I feel targeted in this discussion! Some people here have associated the words obese/fat with lazy and slob. Gee, I wonder why overweight people get discriminated against! I wonder why kids get bullied! I wonder why the public, at large, is so narrow minded!

I don't have prefer not to say because I won't let someone think I'm not something I am not who I am. I've never hidden my weight. It's a factor. However, it doesn't live my life for me. Some men prefer BBW's. They only date BBW's. I don't want to date those men. Why? Will they leave me if I lose the weight? Going back to the topic. The choices are rather vague and like everyone else said, look at the photos. If you have any qualms about size, don't even write her. Put in your profile that you only like small women (like I've NEVER read THAT before, ). I don't want to be with someone who will have any problem with my size because if things go well, he's going to see my body. I don't hide it.

I may be a minority but my profile says who I am and I tell the truth in it. I don't have a novel because that can bore the****ns out of people. Plus, you want to save something for the future.

BTW, stop associating weight with intelligence, cleanliness, activity levels, etc... That's like saying certain ethnic groups have small weenies or are stupid. Get with the program.

LOL I'm so laughing at all of this... I have extra baggage in my mid section... I'm not "fat" all over my body... just in the midsection after having 3 kids... so I guess I would like to ask POF to put "Pear Shaped" as a body type! Then I could "accurately" describe my body type! lmfao :) GOOD TIMES!!!

i know! but maybe if there were more body types to choose from like "no ass" "big booty" "skinny ass ****y" " a little extra pushin cushion", etc. etc... i think all women would answer lol!

honestly- i dont know why they dont answer. I mean the pictures alone should be evidence enough of their body type- and why hide who you are? lame!
