| DO YOU DREAM ABOUT YOUR EX?
Posted: 5/12/2005 5:32:05 AM | | I just woke up from a dream about her, as a matter of fact. We had just caught up with each other heading into church, as I had been out running an errand earlier. We kissed hello and walked inside. Then I woke up. In real life we didn't go to church regularly and she never wore hats. But the kiss was the same. I would like to have portions of my brain removed to prevent this from happening. It's a sweet memory but comes with a considerable dose of sadness. Maybe today I will find a cure for me. | |

Otherwise every day is a shrine to heartache, adn your life goes by as a never ending funeral. Rituals help us move on, but there is none for the end of the relationship. Some poeple have divorce parties. Others just find someone new, or dive into their work, or anything else that will occupy their mind for a while. It is as easy as doing it once you decide to. If not, then live on as a walking case of regret and sadness, a ghost among the living. | |

Posted: 5/12/2005 6:37:39 AM | | i went out with a guy for 3 years. we broke up because we weren't going any where. i wanted marriage and he didn't. he went on to get married, have children, everything i wanted from him. i dreamted about him for 13 years, monthly, weekly sometimes. sometimes, he would come back to me, others we would just be friends. i would always woke up feeling a sense of lose and regreat. i still had feelings for him, he was my first and all. i just never got over him and the dreams would just rekindle it all. untill-i saw him a couple of months ago. he is hotter than ever, but he left his wife and kids for someone else, has a sh*tty job, and a really poor attitude. i just thought, "that could be me!!!". i haven't had a dream about him ever sense! all you need is real closure. | |

Our relationship turned into a long-distance thing, I stopped caring and broke it off despite his complaints almost a year ago. The dreams are usually nightmares: of him finding out where I live, or running into him somewhere. I am in the worst of moods the whole morning whenever I dream about my ex.
And I agree, lack of real closure is usually the problem. | |

I think dreaming and thinking about an ex can be a healthy part of the grieving process.
The problem is when we get stuck obsessing about them. It is because we are refusing to face the truth, they are gone, it is over and we have to let go. Obsessing about them is a way for us to keep the relationship alive, even if just in our minds.
Although I see the problem clearly I am not sure of the solution. I know how you all feel because I am there myself. Not with a lover but I lost my father when I was young and I still dream of him and think about him. I still can't bring myself to let go because I deep down I wish I could magically bring him back to me.

They're real corny to. She usually finds me and takes my hand and it's like we both realize we've been apart long enough and that we're still meant for each other. Posted: 5/12/2005 5:36:00 PM | All the time. Never bad dreams sometimes sex (it was great!) sometimes just talking or working in the garden. I'm not obsessing. I know it's over but I never really found out why. Lots of inuendo but nothing clear cut. She hasn't found anyone new to take my place. I spent the happiest 10 years with her. All the others never even came close. Maybe I'm afraid it will never happen again so I keep going back to the happy times.
I'm not worried about it. I kinda like it. I do not bring her up when I'm talking to ladies. I had one bend my ear for an hour about her ex and I told myself I'd never do that to someone. | |

After a painful loss of a relationship....have any of you had what I refer to as "waking" dreams. Almost like flashbacks of times during your relationship that you remember but while you are awake. It can be very disturbing.
I experienced this for almost 6 months and thought I was tipping over the edge. lol
