| Scams from women on dating sites Posted: 9/29/2007 7:40:19 PM | | What kind of responses were you looking for? I usually respond to women who email me. I think you may have us guys, a little skittish about trusting some women after having them play their tricks on us, and then try to blame us for it. | |

| Scams from women on dating sites Posted: 9/29/2007 8:50:41 PM | Hello bradentoncutie, First of all, I mentioned that they ask for money when they scam you. second, I mention that they fall in love after the 1st or second email and want to get married. Your spelling by the way is good.I was not attacking you,I was mentionning RED FLAG alerts. You say you are from Russia,I never mentioned Russia,I mentioned Nigeria. If you feel offended, that's too bad but what I said does not apply to you unless you ask people for money. Alain

| Scams from women on dating sites Posted: 9/30/2007 6:57:26 AM | To a posting of Billy Bob somewhere on page 2-3. Are you, Sir, emplyed my some sort of U.S. consulate in the former U.S.S.R where does this knowledge come from about "No way single former U.S.S.R girl can get U.S. visa". What BS is that??????? I had 2 visits here before I moved here. I am single and Russian. A couple of my girl-friends from Russia also single visited the U.S. also. I think Billy Bob you need to find a job in a consulate overthere and write your own rules. | |

| Scams from women on dating sites Posted: 10/2/2007 1:16:38 PM | It's funny how they end up in Nigeria. I too was communicating with a man; American from Covington, GA, who works as a sub-contractor for oil companies had to leave England, which he was there for three months, so he says, had to go to Nigeria to refit a cooling systems. He left the site in August. So, I just contacted CS to find out if his story was true. Well, CS told me he had multiple profiles and had ties to a bigger group of scammers. I had this feeling I had about three different men as this one. My gut. He didn't ask for money, but he was in Nigeria and had not received a paycheck. Who knows he very well would have in his next correspondence.
So,let's see, so if we're weeding out the scammers and those who want a piece of ass, then whose left?

| Scams from women on dating sites Posted: 10/2/2007 1:25:51 PM | | I have had the same issues and they always claim to be local. If the name sounds Russian I block her. I recently played along just to see how it would progress and sure enough she eventually wanted money. The world is full of scumbags and many of them have the internet. | |

| Scams from women on dating sites Posted: 10/2/2007 1:40:56 PM | | I would say that if they fall in love after the 2nd or 3rd email, wether they are from Russia, Nigeria, America, or Akrington Stanley, run for the hills!!!! | |

| Scams from women on dating sites Posted: 10/2/2007 3:30:59 PM | Hello Alain 2007.
I got one of those scammers the other day. lol.
but I just wanted to let you know something.
I am a UK citizian, but lived in the Bahamas for 10yrs. Being so close to America, Bahamians tend to use the American spelling for things like "center" I living there for so long had a tendency to spell in American , despite being brought up in the UK. The computer I am using now I bought in the USA and sometimes has a mad one and goes back to spelling in American. the moral is just cause it was typed in American etc ,and I say I'm from the UK doesn't make me not a UK citizian.
I also was married to a Bahamian, and we moved to the UK to live, he wanted me to get him his papers, but I chose not to right there and then. I eventually found he was cheating on me, and I kicked him out. I am left with his son(which I thank god for eveyday) while he lives with another women, who is American and married a UK man to get her her papers! so go figure that!! I gave up. lol
I have plans to move to America in the next two year with a friend to set up her business and for me to be a further education teacher of which I have been doing for over 16yrs. I have met someone from America, he says he's from Florida, and wants me to come over to meet him. he said he will pay for my flight. He is also a teacher, sent me many pics etc. but....... you have got me scared now I feel I want to just cut contact. So to cut a long story sort I e-mailed him and told him I was reading some information on scammers, and I await his reply...
If I don't reply then everything s on to meeting him next yr.
Thanks | |

| Scams from women on dating sites Posted: 10/14/2007 8:58:45 AM | | Don't judge us all by the comments of some women. I have been told I am "refreshing" and "classy." Men do exaggerate and lie especially about their age, so be truthful everybody. It is so wonderful to know what you see is what you get when you finally meet. | |

| Scams from women on dating sites Posted: 10/14/2007 9:12:06 AM | I chatted with a sweet looking girl from Russia, "she" never asked for money, just gave detailed descriptions of her life, home etc. Turned out to be a guy, and the Russian Gov. contacted me, asked if I sent gifts or money and if I wanted to press charges... | |

You make it seem like there is something wrong with wanting a piece of ass even if we have to use beautiful words to do it, even if only to make you feel good about it for a few seconds.
I usually avoid scammers by going local when I can afford it. If I had enough money though, I wouldn't mind trying out some of the more sophisticated models available.

| Scams from women on dating sites Posted: 10/27/2007 8:21:42 PM | This is one of the most common scams there is, women from other countries asking men on dating sites for money. Never fall for it. As a matter of fact, it's so well known, you'll see a message about it before even email anyone on this site.
There are plenty of women in your home town... no need to go anyplace else.
If you get an email from a lady who is not in your home town, your response should be, "Great, look me up when you move here!" You guys have got to get some backbone.

| Scams from women on dating sites Posted: 11/4/2007 6:19:45 AM | Wow, the gullible factor in this thread is overwhelming.
I remember when I first got a M y S p a c e page I'd get 20 emails a day, all guys claiming they fell in love with my photo and I was so beautiful. They'd go on and on about being a widower with some sob story and telling me to get them on Yahoo. I'd read about their college degrees and how I was the perfect woman for them based on my photo showing just how beautiful and charming I was.
The photo on that site was and still is one of my classic cars.

| Scams from women on dating sites Posted: 11/5/2007 6:10:11 AM | Marco, You waited that long to let them know you were onto them? I have to applaude you on that for I usually start questioning everything they say in my first response.
Here's just a hint on what I've received..... I can't believe people would really fall for this lazy a$$ crap
Am Alex Toll 45 Years Old. am from Ohio in Carroll .i live with my i son is Tom. good looking, perfect body figure and cute. I saw your profile and was delighted to contact you, I hope you will be the true loving, honest and caring Woman that I have been looking for, And I have something special to tell you about me, . Well i'm a single man, with one Kids. that's in need of real and perfect love, I need a Woman that can take me through, see , I have been hurt so many times by different Women and wouldn't want that to happen to me again.....thats the reason why I said that I need love.......I am far from a millionaire and am not out for anything but love from someone.....Having someone that loves you and supports you in your life through good and bad times and wonâ€,,t give up on you is what I am looking for....Honesty and trust are what makes a relationship work......I prefer to watch a movie or attend the theater rather than read a novel. I also enjoy travel, experiencing different geographies and people......My eyes are blue, and I have fair white skin. I do not smoke. I do drink on social occasions....... well Concerning sexuality, I am not a promiscious woman, my desire is to be sexually faithful to the Woman I marry If two people love each other and will communicate what they like and do not like about their partner's sexual behavior, I believe many problems can be resolved Moreover I am currently working on my own cos i had to try something else after i lost almost all i had to my last relationship..i just got into the business of collecting antiques...it is a nice thing to do..i buy and sell antiques.......And am presently out of the state on a business trip to get some antiques.....Am doubting if i will be coming back to the state this week or hopefully next week i think..Well i will be waiting to hear back from you soon.....Remember i need real love and am not not here for game, or either to be played on I got yahoo IM...we can get to chat there live.. ... I also write poems in my spare time.....distance is not a problem..if i find the right WOMAN..i dont mind relocating... i have relocated before when i was in love..i dont mind during it again as long as i find the right Woman..i am a very honest and truthful man..i hate lies and deceit..i want real love..if u aint ready for what i said...please dont hit me back.. i am getting too old to play games..i am a very busy one...lol..very independent...hope to hear from you soon!!! Alex........
Here was my reply
I looked over your profile and read your email (even though it took more time than I would like because it's hard to understand). You truly want honesty? Can you handle it? Here we go...You're email raises alot of questions. Your profile, picture, and name says your a man but then you actuallly say "I'm not a promiscious woman"? Which is it? Are you a man, a woman, or a he-she? On the topic of proile pictures again. That's an awfully dark tan for someone who truly has fair white skin. I'm also very concerned on why you felt the need to tell me that your son is good looking, perfect body, and cute. That comment right there, I want to notify the authorities of....that's frelling sick. On the subject of your child again, how can this child live with you if you are currently out of 'the state' for the next week or two? Why is it so hard for you to get back to Ohio if you're merely out of the state? Just jump on a plane and spend the weekend with your child...Geesh! Another thing that concerns me is that you would actually move your life, and more importantly your son across the country or world for someone you meet on the internet? A job, a better life, a better climate to live through an illness is all one thing. But for someone you only know through talking to online? Do you really truly care about this perfect child that you live with but have to leave by themself for the next two weeks? If you'd like to continue to contact me, I have no problems with that but I will expect answers to the questions I asked.
Needless to say I never heard back from him.
Just last night someone else randomly contacted me through my IM server, here's just some of the excerpts from our conversation.
evanspeed: what are you doing fir a living Me: I'm a dispatcher for a trucking company. you? evanspeed: business man Me: what kind of business are you in? evanspeed: antics gold Me: antics? is that the company name? evanspeed: Howie Rich and Ed Crane: Their antics in South Carolina ~~~~~~~~~~~ At this point I was looking up the information he gave me ~~~~~~~~~~~ Me: are you originally from South Carolina? evanspeed: yes evanspeed: i love you Me: you know nothing about me, you can't love me evanspeed: ok evanspeed: if you say so ~~~~~~~~~~~ Fast worker, don't you think? ~~~~~~~~~~~ Me: I was just looking up the company you mentioned and all i can find is some political problems mentioned by the same exact name. evanspeed: that company i gave you Me: yep. here's the link http://www.reasontofreedom.com/howie_rich_ed_crane_antics_south_carolina.html Me: are you still there? evanspeed: yes evanspeed: i means this evanspeed: Crafts for Sale ~~~~~~~~~~~ Hmmm ~~~~~~~~~~~ Me : what kind of crafts? evanspeed: d Made Fine Jewelry evanspeed: hand made fine jewerly 18k Me: Fine jewelry and crafts are two completely different things. about as different as they are from political problems. Do you mind being honest with me please? evanspeed: to be honest am a sales man in a hand made fine jewerly Me: okay... ~~~~~~~~~~~ Now I was looking up his profile...no information just a photo ~~~~~~~~~~~ Me: the wedding ring in your pic, is that one of the pieces that you purchased? Me: also how long have you been married? evanspeed: i was married for 12years but no more together she went with another man evanspeed: i hope you wont do that too me ~~~~~~~~~~~ The picture was really from a magazine ad ~~~~~~~~~~~ evanspeed: i got too sleep now i will go too work Me: k evanspeed: my number evanspeed: (incert 16 digit phone number starting with 0112 here) evanspeed: urs Me: I thought you were in South Carolina? ~~~~~~~~~~~
Now is it just me that gets the emails and instant messages that immediately scream "Bull Sh*t" or am I just getting the newbies that have no clue as to what they're really doing? I'll probably get screamed at for saying this but I will anyway....If this is what people are loosing money to, maybe they shouldn't have the money to begin with. Afterall they no common sense what-so-ever.

| Scams from women on dating sites Posted: 11/5/2007 6:57:11 AM | Yet another reason to ask to meet asap. I rarely ever tried the long distance thing--only twice ever in fact and they were both real people who I eventually did meet. Took a couple of months for them. For all the local men I required that they ask to meet within the first week or so. If they did not ask, I moved on. Occasionally I asked and if they did not immediately agree, I moved on.
By doing this I pretty much avoided all scammers and those otherwise not truly available. I met quite a few men. Every one was quite real and honestly looking for a relationship. Most of them eventually found one. So did I. I am good friends with some of the men I met. Most of them had no trouble meeting women on-line either. I think it was because the ones who are truly looking for a relationship are direct and keep moving towards the meet. So to me a red flag is emailing someone who doesn't mention wanting to meet within the first couple of emails or the first phone conversation. I immediately assume it is a scam or they are otherwise not really available. A little common sense goes a long way.

| Scams from women on dating sites Posted: 11/5/2007 3:39:06 PM | | I notice your scammer also used the word "mum" rather than our American word "mom." There are a bunch of these scammers in the UK as well. I've been contacted by a couple of them...who eventually asked for money so they could "return to the US." I told the last one that if he could get himself to the UK, he could surely get himself back to the US...Made him mad!!! He claimed I was heartless...LOL. This guy claimed his name was "GIFT OWENS" - and I ask you folks...how many Americans would name their kid GIFT??? He claimed to be from the US and mentioned a city but not a state...that's a giveaway too. These scammers must have a certain amount of success or they wouldn't keep going on with it. Just tell yourself one thing...if there is someone who wants to meet you and someone who is sincere...they are NOT going to ask you for money...and generally are not going to fall in love with you via email. | |
