| Scams from women on dating sites Posted: 11/5/2007 4:14:21 PM | MSNBC did a special report on Nigerian scammers. They played along with the scammers and went to the UK to meet up with them. The scammers were black men and when the investigative reporter started asking them very pointed questions they RAN...
...and yes, as a woman I've been hit on by a number of scammers...one claimed to be a stock broker who worked in "oil futures" - said he worked for Forex, who was temporarily in the UK (why there I don't know)...he called me all the time from his "intercontinental phone" - sent me photos of his daughter, of himself, (turned out not to be of him)...and for the final coup, told me he needed a temporary loan of $25,000 to purchase stocks that he would make a killing on...he would cut me in on it...Well...being a hard-hearted woman, I told him that I didn't have $25,000 to loan him... I never heard from him again. He said I let him down!!!! LOL They abound on the internet. Just keep a tight grip on your bank accounts, and try not to be gullible. Check everything out.

| Scams from women on dating sites Posted: 11/16/2007 10:42:44 AM | Scams on men . . .
. . . would be somespamsite.com
When a free member, you get all kinds of emails from all kinds of hot women, but you cannot answer them unless you are a paid member. Then, after several months of scanning the site and finding a person you think you like, you plunk down the cash for membership and bam! All of a sudden, no more emails coming from all the hotties.
Plus! The one you want to talk to does not answer.
How about helping me get the word around about this scam. AFF is a scam and there's no doubt about it.

| Scams from women on dating sites Posted: 11/16/2007 2:05:04 PM | | Hey Guy - Got a great laugh from your post. In fact, it's not always funny though. Even here some women do not act honestly. Too bad. I get responses from some gal in Africa, always asking for money. Oh well. Be careful. | |

In fact, scammers target homely guys because their desperation almost always clouds their judgment
Ewwww that stings =/
I finally received my first dating scam email. The usual stuff . . . a stunningly beautiful woman messages me which right off the bat raises red flags. Aside from the fragmented English, I knew right away something was amiss because I *never* get messaged by women that attractive. I went along with it for a bit and even asked why "she" would want some average guy like myself when she could have any good looking guy instead. Her reply didn't even acknowledge my question. Instead the scammer stuck to the script spelling out her love for me and how badly she wants to come and visit in America. A quick IP lookup of her address in the email header showed the message originating from Russia while she claimed to be in my general vicinity. Right now we're at the visa stage of things and I'm certain I'm just one or two emails away before being asked for money.
I guess nowadays they're trying to be a bit more coy with their pictures. Instead of an overt glossy modeling shot, the one I got looked like it could've been ripped from some young and hot 20-somethings my-space page.
So sorry, Yuliya, I guess it wasn't meant to be. :)

| Scams from women on dating sites Posted: 4/18/2008 12:53:40 AM | | there are famous stories of men that run huge corporations that send money to nigerian men posing as russian or ukranian or U.S. women. Dont' be fooled by a pretty face. If its too good to be true, then it is. You said you want advice but I dont know for what; you answered your own question; these are scams, dont get involved or you will get screwed. Very easy. | |

| Scams from women on dating sites Posted: 4/18/2008 9:36:38 PM | gday.... well i am from australia... so i do spell colour and mum they way we do. british english.. im not a scammer... never asked anyone for money.. nor would I expect someone to pay for the date with me.... In fact im not even ready to date from internet.. Ive just been checking it out... friends is an option here.. but I read this thread.... the only scams ive gotten are in email re the nigerian 1s and bank 1s... where they use banks headings asking to confirm details etc... neither worked of course..
but im just wondering after reading this...... if it works that they send you a cheque.... and if you cash it.. you get a fee..... would it work reverse? ...for eg if they did ask for $2,000 and you agreed you could make payments through (some protected mail where they actually have to go and sign to pick it up)..... wouldnt they have to give you. their name?... their id details.. so you could address it too them at the post office?. or their bank details?.. then when you havent deposited it by the time you said wouldnt they re contact you? asking why? .... just an idea... maybe if they think its say 5 part payments of $2,000 each time... they could be traced? dont know... there would have to be a way to net them smiles/peace

| Scams from women on dating sites Posted: 5/21/2008 9:00:21 PM | | A similar event happened to me a few months back. I met a woman on here. Within a matter of days she was asking for money so she could get a plane fair to meet me here before Christmass. I blocked her and never spoke to her again. Yes it did involve Nigeria too. I got my hopes up. Again. the moral of the story is just be carefull and never give anyone money. -Dre | |
