Never actually met an Aussie, but I did exchange e-mail with an Aussie woman for a long time.
Speaking of actors, Rachel Griffiths was in an HBO serial over here, "Six Feet Under." It lasted for five seasons. She's a great actress, and sexy too.

Do you see a difference in American Women and Australian?

I have a friend who said there is a vast difference in how the standard of living is and family life.
I wonder if I was to come to Australia, would I be hooked on what I see and experienced.
We are here in America losing the battle with family life for sure...

What do you think?

P L E A S E..........stop all this crap!

Yes their is a difference. Yes Americans drive on the wrong side of the road....Yes, they have a different accent to Aussies. Yes they have very open relationships with all colours of men and are not ashamed of the fact! Is that wrong? No! In fact when Aussie birds are able to achieve a certain amount of anonymity they behave in exactly the same manner.

So in short apart from driving on the wrong side of the road and the accent, no there is no difference between American and Australian women nor do I suspect between other English speaking countries such as New Zealand, Canada, Scotland, Wales or England etc, etc.

In fact having encountered all of those nationalities, in various parts of the world, I know there is no difference!

have to disagree chiny, look at the news tis morning.

nice young american lady, one of a growing number who achieved fame and finished up in handcuffs was carted away after a stand off with police.

theres a pattern developing, now if those who make hollywood clearly are "different" then there would be other "differences" in other sectors of society.

also in america studies are finding females perpetrate in relationships as much as men yet we have been so told from an expert that in australia females are almost exclusively victims

???????

WTF aloofy does brittany spears have to do with the real world and every day american women???? she's the one who made the news today being handcuffed over a child custody dispute. the woman is mentally ill and hardly a role model and hardly representative of the entire population of american women

and exactly what is it we perpetrate in relationships as much as men?

pardon me, but it was me who was beat, punch, kicked, etc., not any of my husbands.

where do you get your information?

I;'m sure there are some american women who are abusers. I'll bet you'll find them in australian society too ifyou really look. And how many of those women finally got sick of being beat up and retaliated or defended themselves in some way.

but the fact remains the same, men hit women a hellovalot more than women hit men..

that's it, i'm outa here.

read my post, i said theres a pattern developing in those who make hollywood, and i alluded to there having to be other differences in society with the clear difference of those in hollywood.

and exactly what is it we perpetrate in relationships as much as men?

females abuse alchohol, drugs, children the lot so why is there a perception they dont abuse men?

pardon me, but it was me who was beat, punch, kicked, etc., not any of my husbands.

calm down please, where do you get that from?

are you implying im saying you did this or it never happens to females?

where do you get your information?

about you?

. And how many of those women finally got sick of being beat up and retaliated or defended themselves in some way.

how many men retaliated to abuse they got then? if your justifying women retaliating why dont you justify men? otherwise your being a sexist.

but the fact remains the same, men hit women a hellovalot more than women hit men..

dont you mean men retaliate a hell of lot more than women? now perpetration is not just physical, its social, economic, financial, sexual and emotional.

are you implying this is soley a males domain?

In regards to the topic of domestic violence that this thread has now morphed into, I can only say, with a consensus of men who have been slapped or punched (assaulted) by a woman and just stood there and took it "like a man", I really don't think we'd be surprised to find most men have. I know I have, more than once by more than one female individual.
There are other threads that cover that topic quite extensively and as with most threads involving heated discussion, there is never really any amicable outcome for the affirmative or the negative. That topic also attracts a lot of feminist sympathisers who either "work in the field", or have suffered some horrible personal experience that could slightly sway their bias somewhat. There are actually plenty of non violent, well adjusted people out there that see what happens in other relationships from the sidelines and basically aren't surprised at what transpires within those relationships. What happens in the courts and mediation rooms around both countries, is perhaps where the real surprises lay.

Aloofy, let me explain something to you. You just can't go around pin pointing one person from a country and base the whole population of that country of what you saw on the news.

Around election time last year, Ben Cousins was in every Western Australian newspaper for his dealings with drugs. Do you want to be called a drug addict who runs from the law?

At the same time, the current prime minister of this country picked his ear on national TV and ate the wax. Do you want every other person on the planet to think you do the same thing?

Madonna a year or so ago, went to some country to adopt a child. Does that mean that every American woman did this?

Bill Clinton did some naughty things in the round room in the white house. Does that mean that every American man did naughty things?

Monika Lewinski did some bad things too, she should have had her dress dry cleaned as soon as possible to avoid staining. But does every American woman do this?

Does anyone out there want to be viewed the same way as Schappelle Corby?

Who wants to be one of the Bali 9?

Who wants to be known as Adolph Hitler just because you are German?

Who wants to be called the mafia, just because you happen to be Italian?

In my opinion, there is no difference between American and Aussie women. There is no difference between Aussies and Kiwi's, Aussies and South Africans, Aussies and Eskimo's.

People are still people, regardless where they are born or where they live. Australia is a multicultural country. Most of our population is made up of Italians, Greeks, Americans, Chinese, French, English, Scandanavian, Kiwi's, Dutch, Polish, Canadians, Russians and a whole heap more.

The true Aussies who are native to this land are the Aboriginals. But do you eat widgedy grubs? Do you own a boomerang or a didgeridoo? Do you hunt your food?

The rest of us are all immigrants, regardles if we were born here or not.

it's not very easy to calm down on a subject like this loofy when it's really happened to you.

oh lets play the sympathy card why dont we.

ever thought its happened to me? ever thought i might find it offensive you try and justify some females abuse?

maybe my life would be so much better had i hit her, had i not turned my back to wear whatever come so i could ring the triple 000 number without her trying to rip the phone out my hand or claw my face, kick me and so on, maybe then i wouldnt of got hit up to ten times on the one place of my spine, then i wouldnt wake up each and every night in pain from nerve injury, maybe i wouldnt notice every season change with mass pain, cramping and tingling/stinging, maybe .

maybe if i had smashed her i would then be one of 95 % male abusers we keep hearing about and maybe i would be not permanently debilitated for the rest of my life and not live every day not knowing when the whole nervous system will collapse.

maybe in the time before this had i smashed her as a result of the non physical violence i received perhaps i would not be in this position.

maybe then i would not argue or whatever with others completely innocent of what i received and completely naive to what is actually going on to men and women not just one of them.

I never forgot the naked Auzzie chick painted up like the American Flag and shakin' it in Perth.

Oh my god it takes a disturb to disturb the whole thread and ruin it for all.

If anyone has big issues in life please sort it out in the right clinic

The topic of this thread was

Is there a difference between American and Australian Women

and not Is there a difference between Men and Women

Men do you have an issue with women???? please stop using heterosexual dating sites and forums
Women do you have an issue with men ???? please stop using heterosexual dating sites and forums

There is not much of a difference between an Australian woman with class and ethics and American woman with class and ethics

Similarly there is no difference between an Australian woman who has no class and no ethics and an American woman who has no class and no ethics.

I doubt there's any real difference between American and Australian women. I think all over the world people want the same basic things. The differences would be relatively minor, reflecting the differences between our cultures themselves.

Okay... so I'm not speaking from experience because I don't personally know any American women, however i do know and American man who is married to an Australian woman(fancy that huh) and he was previously married to an American woman once upon a time. I once asked him this same question... his answer "Australian women are more laid back about most things in general".

Now, that was a huge generalisation.

Chances are his first wife was 'uptight' and his second wife is not, so I called him on it. He said that "all of his dealings with Australian women since moving to live here (which was about 10 years ago) have given him this impression".

"Aussie gals (as he calls us in his Wyoming accent) are just easier to get along with, they don't seem to fuss to much over things like American women do".

Not saying this is the definitive answer but thought it was worth contributing.

I know a couple of yanks…….
& there ok mostly…………..

The hardest thing is they just don’t get us, ……..I have too explained myself, which is ok.., sometimes…are we as Australians so different to them.

Maybe it has to do with our convict past…or maybe its just us/me…rules…we don’t like them, we do something about it.

As for the difference, between ausy girls & yankie girls, girls are girls

If they like you/me…….that’s ok, if not …………….run
