Are you a high beam flasher?

I find the highs don't actually show the sides of the road that you want to see, when looking out for deer and moose etc

Could it be that the engineers on that particular model gave you a low beam indicator light instead of a high beam indicator light? The above quote sounds very wrong to me.

Raraavis41,

I think maybe its the actual color of the light that bothers me... I just find the paler light makes it look like there is a haze in the air. Almost like I can see further down the road but it looks like there is fog lol... but it is definatly brighter just not helpful to me or so it would seem

Well I do a quick flash of highbeams.. I hate to be blinded. I drive a sportscar so I am low to the ground.. Iusually give a quick flash as soon as they come around the corner... You might try to that when they approach that way they know you are on low beams from quite a ways away....
If aperson with high beams come up behind me at night and doesn't dim.. I just angle the mirrors so it reflects back at them. They get the hint real quick
Good Luck

It almost sounds like your headlights were installed upside down. I don't think it is possible, but I still think there is some kind of problem there.

Yes. I hate stupid, inconsiderate people. I will flash my lights and if they don't shut their brights off then I turn mine back on and leave them on until I pass.

Hummm....I do notice on my 06 Ranger that when my highbeams are on I get a dark, almost shadowy hue down the centre of the road, but the sides are fine...almost too much...I think I'll pull them in a bit.
What I really dislike is I can't have highbeams and foglamps on at the same time.

I flash my high-beams at one man only!

On topic now: When I'm returning home from a long day on the road, I pass lots of vehicles with their high-beams on. I will flash my high-beams at em to let them know they are blinding me. And, those blue headlights are the absolute worst!!!

Sometimes, I'll give a quick flash of the high-beams to let other drivers know there are emergency vehicles ahead...usually a cop looking for speeders!

Come on, tell the truth, how many times have you done it in public, for all to see.
Flashing right now.

It's good to see I am not alone in my high beam frustration. I constantly have high beams flashed at me when driving at night because my lights are brighter than average. I've had the aim checked twice now and it's spot on. I had a passenger keep track, and I was flashed over 50 times in three hours driving on a fairly empty highway. One was even a police car that had the nerve to pull me over when I did a quick flash back to let him know my high beams were not on. I gave him a calm, well worded piece of my mind. The fog light thing is true for most newer vehicles, if they are on the high beams are off. It is worse when I tow a trailer as the front of my truck will naturally point a bit higher, but I just try not to drive at night when I have the trailer behind me. It's so silly sometimes that I see a car coming, turn my high beams off so they can clearly see that I have, and they still flash me. It's enough to make one want to install a giant message board on your roof that reads "idiot." Maybe we should all turn our headlights off and go to night vision goggles for driving;)

I'm curious then, if

, then why not lower the beams a bit and let the rest of us save our retinas? It usually doesn't take but a tiny bit to make the difference.

Good luck with that Shauna -- when I was a teenager, someone with their high beams on was rammed head-on deliberately by a drunk guy, "to teach them a lesson. . . . " He apologized before he died. Three people in the other car were killed.

Even if it's not something as serious as that event, you can get a ticket for having them on and I actually know somebody that got one.

Or you could be a good driver and know how to reast in such situations. Like, slightly looking to the edge of the road.

Just because the "lights" may be brighter than yours, you should still know how to react and be a good driver.

I drive in animal country....my peripheral vision is the centre of the road.

I was once told by a insurance agent...hit the animal, not the ditch...you don't get paid for hitting the ditch...

i freakin hate when that happens, it can get pretty scary at times too. like when those huge lifted trucks are driving behind you and it seems as if their brights are on...feels like your gonna get abducted or something...crazy.

Did you check your lights? Maybe your low beams are aimed too high?

So I thought I would update...

I noticed that my vehicle was doing that extra bounce going over bumps and such. Found out the shocks were gone in the front. Had them replaced...

Just got back from Edmonton and guess what... wasn't flashed once.

The bumps must of been sending my beam into peoples eyes. Related, it could be possible.

Although I am wondering how the shocks went on a new vehicle lol.. hmmm crazy GP roads I am sure.

I will flash them, I wonder how they like high beam blue hid's in their eyes. My hid's will hurt them more then their stock headlights will hurt me.

If people are thinking you are having your high beams on you probably need to buy an cutoff insert that will go into the headlight housing and make a straight line cut off so it doesn't blind drivers.

i just look to the right side of the road so im not starting into the light.
.....I look to the left side of the road.
The cars that annoy me more than the oncoming ones are the ones directly BEHIND me. If they drive up my butt, I become blinded cause I can't look anywhere.
I don't make a habit of driving at night anyway cause my eyesight is not the best. I even have trouble reading the bingo numbers!

In a car, only time i really use the high beams is if some idiot cuts me off. Though when I'm driving the tractor trailer, I get a little more respect on the highway.. well except from other truck drivers haha.
