| | when you take your last few breathsPage 2 of 2 (1, 2) | Well, being an atheist, I like TheSkepticalHippy's take on it (msg 6). Final thoughts will probably be that I was glad that I did the things I thought I should have done, regret the things I never did and wanted to do, and happy that I could remain true to myself.
Of course, this also depends on how far along we've come technologically. My last few breathes are not the final one. Before that final breathe, it may be possible to freeze me, cryogenically or perhaps preserve me in some other fashion. Suspended animation could be a way of cheating death.

| when you take your last few breaths Posted: 10/27/2007 3:12:57 PM | | Hopefully those last few breaths are while I'm already fast asleep as opposed to something more dramatic, like a sky-diving stunt going wrong or a plane crashing itn the sea. Either way, the first question is what have I done for Jesus, and how was my life lived - because at this point it's over and you realize there really is no second chances. | |

| when you take your last few breaths Posted: 10/27/2007 5:35:40 PM | | I just nursed or helped nurse my dad in his finally two weeks of battling cancer ..he was lucky in upto the last couple of weeks he had a good quality of life .. I am not religous but had faith and cannot tell anyone how that helped me cope seeing somebody that I have loved the most fading ... so many things I didnt know about death and never in a million years would I have believed I could have faced sitting with somebody whilst they took their last breathes ..why he did ..I have no idea..why many things happened I have know idea ... It was not exactly peaceful the last few days..almost a part of shutting down ..but who knows.. only I know despite everything he could laugh 2 days before the end and joke with us... we played his favourite music near the end and he smiled and when he was taking his last breathes he was surronded in his own bed by his wife of 50 odd years and 3 daughters all telling him they loved him ... my end of tale I dont fear death and have stronger faith but would not have had that veiw three weeks ago ! Linds. | |

| when you take your last few breaths Posted: 11/5/2007 11:58:42 AM | | I nurse cancer patients in their last days and due to the amount of medication they can be taking at that stage, most of them are not conscious at the end. I'd like to think it's just like being asleep before you go so you're not aware of 'the end'. I tell myself my late Dad will be there to greet me into the next world, it helps me cope with his loss too. | |

I believe we leave very much conscious and alive to dwell in a different dimension. A very beautiful place; reward for our difficult and painful earthly lives. There will be no need to fear for those who were kind and generally meant well in spite of the many mistakes they might have made. They will know joyfully that it's their time as familiar angels and old friends, visible only to them, gather round to escort them home.
