Posted: 9/22/2007 4:38:23 AM | It seems the story gets turned around and there has been some blame now put on this guy. It is very difficult to make decisions when you are put in situations you have never even dreamed would happen to you. I think he handled it the way he thought best, and I commend him for that. In hindsight I am sure he realizes there may have been things he did differently, but she did get home safe without killing anyone on the road. As far as her being "possibly" pregnant, there are people who drink alot that suffer from a condition called ascites and one of the symptoms is the retention of fluid in the abdomen. People who suffer from this condition may look 20 months pregnant and oftentimes requires that the fluid be drain out of the abdomen to lessen pressure on the abdominal organs.
I think he handled the situation the best he knew how at the time. He made sure she got home safely; he made sure that her children were taken care of when SHE made the decision to leave her house again. We are basing our reactions to the situation on hindsight. I am not sure I would have done the same thing.
I commend you for being such a nice guy...and I am sorry you had to experience this situation. Poster, you still do have the opportunity to report this to situation to Child Protective Services...I do hope that you consider doing this since it is the RIGHT thing to do. | |

The fact that she drinks in excess during her pregancy and can't get off the weed... you have to feel sorry for this unborn child of hers - what kind of life is it going to have. Anyways too bad for your experience, most folks on POF are pretty decent - don't let it discourage you from meeting others. | |

Posted: 9/23/2007 5:57:12 AM | Full blown alcohoholics do not care about much about anything, except where the next drink is coming from. It doesn't matter who is there, if they are pregnant or not, etc. A drinker will drink. Alcohoholism is a very serious disease and allot of people have it.
Hopefully this woman one day gets tired of it and goes to AA or gets some sort of other help for her condition. Sadly, many do not. | |

But the thing I dont understand is why did the OP have to stay with this woman once he knew she was safe inside? Watching TV until she woke-up, came to, what ever happened?
I would never have gone inside that house/apartment. For all he knew, she could have had a husband or boyfriend waiting inside, or out with his date from POF that could have come home and tried to hurt him.
I think he should have refused to buy her a drink, he said it was obvious that she had been drinking when he met her. I think he should have left the bar/restuarant, and called the police. Of course that is just my opinion, like all the others here.
As for the guy who was used as a baby sitter. I think I would have called the police, and told them that a lady had left her children alone. Waited for the cops to arrive and slipped out the back door! Both of these women are unfit mothers in my opinion and I agree with the others" they made their choices." It is the children who suffer. The sad thing about it is that if these women survive and dont die from liver disease or in an accident, they are raising children who will grow up and do the same thing to their children. We are all a product of our environment!

She knew DAMN well what she was doing (at that point) and didn't want him to know she was pregnant & drinking. He was responsible enough to escort her home - obviously concerned about her...but how much of this was his responsibility? You can call DFACS but if it's an anonymous call they're not likely to respond.
I met a guy online once who said he was 40...had a decent pic, nice voice on the phone. When we met, he was clearly 67 - he was also drunk, and admitted he had been using his SON'S photo in his profile to attract younger women. The bitter, slobbery old fart had the balls to yell "shallow little ****" at me as I walked out of the restaurant.
Lemme guess, was it my responsibility at this point to call a cab for him? Or a shrink?

Posted: 9/23/2007 8:02:32 AM | cuteanfunsafeguy@ your profile rocks , thumbs up.... unfortunately someone people dont appreciate the kindness of others, you did her a favor by being making sure she was safe. even though it wasnt appreciated by her but thats ok, it was the right thing to do by any decent human being. thank goodness it wasnt someone who would of taken full advantage of her, and gawd knows what he would of done to her, guess she has no idea of the consquences or what kind of people are really out there, I hope she learnt her lesson, doubt it, she'll probably do it again. My friends sister was murdered just a few weeks ago, she was followed home late at night after work and now shes gone. she was a decent, remarkable smart lady, who made a good life for herself, god rest her soul.
people, just take precautions before going to meet anyone, extra precautions, i sure do my life means alot ot me....you never know! | |

I only wanted to write about a ridiculous and selfish situation that someone I met once put me in. She never told me her situation beforehand and hid her stomach from me when we met, otherwise I would have never bought her a drink. I couldn't force her to stop buying herself drinks. I couldn't argue with her because you simply can't argue with a drunk. I couldn't physically take the keys away from her because she could have me arrested for theft and assault, besides the fact she could have miscarried in her state, if she underwent any physical stress from anything. She would have definitely freaked if the police showed which seriously could have caused a miscarriage. They would not have wanted the responsibility of possibly endangering the fetus either, and would have most likely just brought her home. Is anything happened at all, both the police and I would be facing lawsuits from her. America is the most litigious country in the world, with 80% of all the lawyers in the entire world all working out just in the United States (...that is a fact)!
I don't have her number anymore, don't know her last name or where she works, and I know which apartment community (which was huge) she lives in but not the apartment. I could go back and look all this up. But what if she just has a medical condition, or a huge beer gut, and I called the police on her now? She could then bring me up on charges and sue me for defemation of character. Also, my testimony would only be hearsay and not taken seriously by anyone. If you don't contact anyone immediately after an event happens, it's useless. That is just the way it works, otherwise people can say anything about anyone, at anytime! And what a wonderful world we would live in then, eh? The only thing that could happen now is if someone follows her around and waits for her to get drunk again and then calls the police to investigate. If she is no longer pregnant, where is nothing illegal about her drinking unless she can not care for the child in her present state.
All I wanted to go was meet someone for the first time on a date, which I should have been paid babysitting wages for. I have a life, we all do, and it doesn't include caring for a selfish stranger who does have plenty of family, co-workers and friends who's responsibility is to help her, not a person she met out one night.
If anyone has constructive suggestions on how I should have handled this situation differently, please write it on this forum. I really would like to know for the future. | |

Does anyone have any new, constructive suggestions that would not contradict or under-mind all the issues I just wrote about, concerning my story. I'm looking for suggestions that would work with all these sensitive and tricky issues because this is a very difficult situation where we all can't just make simple "cut and dry" statements about.

I think that as people we all do what we see as the best thing at the time and that is what you did so tell all those who are being critical that you hope they in their infinate wisdom get the chance to do it themselves I'm suret they would amke the best decison.
As for the woman if she is on here and reading any of this you need to grow up and get a life this is rediculous and you should know better. Being a mother is one fo the most important jobs you will ever have and it is one that should not be taken lightly. Side note where is the father? | |
