| Why Is It So Hard To Take A Good Picture? Posted: 9/25/2007 8:33:52 AM | i only read the first couple of paragraphs of your post so forgive me if i don't make sense. a lot of people just are not photogenic. thats all there is too it. some people are really good looking then stick a camera in their face and its like WHOA what the hec happened there? then there are others that are extremelyphotogenic but in real life they look completely different. | |

| Why Is It So Hard To Take A Good Picture? Posted: 9/25/2007 9:30:50 AM | The op should have posted in the poetry forum, but I like the idea of camera that could get a shot of the inner self. Mine would be so wonderful and bright, it would be harder to look at than the mess I've got now, if it didn't blow up my puter trying to upload it. | |

| Why Is It So Hard To Take A Good Picture? Posted: 9/25/2007 12:59:42 PM | | I happen to think you take a very good picture. But I know what others mean. I think the same thing about myself when I take a picture. The last time I took a really good picture was 1999 when I was out for New Year's Eve and was feeling no pain! Didn't think it was fair to post that picture on here since it's way too old. | |

| Why Is It So Hard To Take A Good Picture? Posted: 9/25/2007 1:08:56 PM | I think just act normal in front of the camera. :) I find sometimes I pose or something in front of the camera, and that's when I look bad for pictures.
I love taking pictures, but I love it when I smile my normal smile, when I act my normal act.... that way I get better results... :)
I dunno... that works for me :)
I still being taken pictures of... :D I'm what you can call camera wh*re.. lol

| Why Is It So Hard To Take A Good Picture? Posted: 9/25/2007 4:41:20 PM | Yes, taking pictures is an ordeal and I am never happy with the results. It's like woach! Why do I show so much teeth? Why do I look angry? Why do I look so old and fat? lol!
Same thing with the voice. Just to make a voice recording for my voice-mail is tortuous. People tell me they like it (or pretend too...hard to tell sometimes) but I can't stand hearing me!
The moral of this story is: People in general are rarely happy with themselves...but they usually look and sound ok.
OP: You will be ok. | |

| Why Is It So Hard To Take A Good Picture? Posted: 9/25/2007 7:51:33 PM | OP I have thought the same thing. There are somedays where I just say "damn you're hot!" and then I go to take a pic and reality ruins the moment it seems!
I put up the pics that I feel decent about and hope people can use their imagination to see the potential there.
Truthfully though, we tend to be our own worst critics! You have a bright smile which I am sure will win the heart of a wonderful woman ~best of luck to you and the rest of us with the lying cameras ;)

| Why Is It So Hard To Take A Good Picture? Posted: 9/25/2007 11:06:06 PM | | OK. I didn't even read the whole thing cause you go on & on but about pics... Have someone else take pics if it's not too embarrasing for you. If you don't already have some digital shots you could also find some regular ones & scan them. Also when "posing" for a picture don't think of it that way. Be relaxed. Try to be natural. Let your personality shine through. Ignore that you are taking a pic. | |

| Why Is It So Hard To Take A Good Picture? Posted: 9/25/2007 11:14:18 PM | | If you think really kinky sexy thoughts when you take them, they usually turn out okay. Also, women really appreciate confidence in a guy, which can, of course, only be demostrated in person | |

| Why Is It So Hard To Take A Good Picture? Posted: 9/27/2007 12:28:34 AM | Why are you posting this in "Ask a Girl"?, you need to be posting this in the "Ask a photographer" As such, I can tell you at least a couple of reasons. First, even a high end modern digital camera only has the dynamaic range of about 1% the human eye. Dynamic range is the sensitivity at which you see gradual shades of light intensity from light to dark. Look at an average snapshot you or someone else took, especially one in the middle of the day. Notice the shadows first- are they totally black? Is that not how you remember them? What about the sky? Why is it washed out? I don't remember it being that bright... These are examples of the camera not reading the gradual intensity of light as well as a human eye does.
When you take a photo of yourself, especially in outdoor light at high noon, or with a cheap camera flash, all the little crinkles and creases in your skin, and all your other little imperfections will be amplified because of the lack of dynamic range of the camera you are using. A professional photographer uses various tricks to mitigate this harshness, and takes a photo using "softer" light which will give the same results as a higher dynamic range will. This is why these photographers have all those reflectors, soft boxes, expensive lights and flashes, etc. to make the light hit the face at the right intensity and angle to make you look good. In addition they use a photo editing program such as photoshop to further enhance your appearance. If you play around a bit with the available ambient light, and you may have to use tripod, then you may be able to get a decent photo by arranging your household lights, experimenting to get a "softening" of the light in your house, or take a photo outside in the early morning or around sunset. Or hire a professional photographer.

| Why Is It So Hard To Take A Good Picture? Posted: 9/27/2007 8:22:29 AM | I have never, ever taken a good picture in my life. I look stupid in every picture I've ever been in. I hated my wedding pictures, my prom pictures, every school picture I ever had, I can. not. take. a. good. picture. I am not photogenic AT ALL! I have one pic on my profile of me on a wave runner, and the person who took it practically had to pick a fight with me to make me sit there for it.
I HATE being in pictures, I hate it so much...which is why there are very few pictures OF me. I usually make sure I'm the one HOLDING the camera, rather than in front of it.

| Why Is It So Hard To Take A Good Picture? Posted: 9/27/2007 8:38:26 AM | Gee OP, You really have an issue with your pic's. You feel you must explain every pic in your profile. I used my u beaut digital and cam for my pic's. The cam one's are different to the digital......closer and more lighting, however the digital are in my natural surrounding's. Only one pic is taken by a human (the one with Sasha our pup), cause if I put the camera on 10 second delay, the pup would have eaten it during that time. PS: You may disagree, but the camera doesn't lie. | |
