What is your personal fitness routine/workout regimen?
Posted: 10/12/2007 1:23:32 AM
I put in about 205 miles a week cycling ( 3 to 4 ) days. On off days, run about 3 miles.
Food portions 4-6 meals (small)..always watch what I eat. Mostly whole foods. Nothing bigger than my fist.

The last time I used soda, was nearly 4 years ago. And that was only to lossen the corrosion build up from the battery terminal in my car.

hmm i guess it all depends on what are goals are and how quickly you want to get there. for me i try to go to the gym at least 4 to 6 days a week. each day for each major muscle group. i do mostly free weights for about an hour to hour 1/2 then abs for about 15 to 30 mins then cardio for about 30 to 60 mins

umm diet on the other hand i have to work on lol

i was at one point counting every calorie, protein, fat, fiber, whatever intake.ate only good carbs, right fats, a lot of protein, drinking like a galon+ of water a day,and every 2 hours i was eating something. i was gaining muscle mass losing body fat and peeing every second when i was on it, but i had great results. too bad i got lazy!

i know i have to go back on the diet if i want the results i want, like i said its all about your fitness goals. what you want how fast and what are you willing to do to get there.

i fwant to add some more muscle, will eat more and only workout major body parts as heavy as I can (back, legs and chest). then when ready to trim down again, decrease calories, increase cardio and add the smaller muscle groups in my routine.

the most intense workout i ever got was in an african dance class. i studied ballet, modern and jazz for the better part of my life and that always kicked my *ss...until i took the african classes. wow! i worked muscles i didn't even know i had. i looked really geeky doing it, but it was a blast.

I do the Shaolin Workout everyday, and it takes about a half-hour to do, longer if I'm learning a new move. It tones the body and shuns weight-lifting (which weight-lifting comes back in later years to ruin joints), and you can do it in a bedroom, a hotel room, practically anywhere.

I do some sort of aerobic exercise at least 4 times a week. Usually, it is a cobination of spinning classes, stairmaster, elyptical precor & treadmill. I combine that with free weights
and hammer workout machines. I do weights 3 - 4 times per week. Other than that, I kayak & hike for additional exercise. I try and use stairs instead of escalators or elevators as well.

Up until recently I was burning about 5000 cals a week, with about 3000-3500 or so of it straight cardio, to bring me down to between 128-133 (I am 5'6", small frame so that was my goal weight). I changed my entire diet to lowfat, low sugar, a lot of chicken, fish, turkey, veggies and I take about 7 vitamins a day (Multi, A, E, D, C, B-Comp).

My cardio would be 3-4 days a week, usually 45 mins to an hour and included tae-bo, elliptical, tennis, the park trails and the treadmill (running, jogging, powerwalk with high incline, reverse walk with high incline, powerwalk with weights).

About 3-4 days a week I would do yoga or pilates, core work/stabilizer with weights and isometrics, crunches, squats, free weights, resistance training.

I hit128 lbs (yay!) and I'm now in the process of revamping my regimen to shake things up a bit, add some fun stuff in and just maintain. At the rate I was going before I lost weight pretty fast and stayed toned, so I am trying to slow down a little now without gaining body fat or losing any muscle.

if i lived in the west coast or other year round warm weather area, overall,my workout routine would substaintially differ from what format it stays at with me being an east coast resident.basically, this is pretty much the way it's been for the past few weeks.....

6 days per week on "the body former",which is a "total gym" clone.
mon-tricep pressdowns, tricep extensions, presses, and seated dips on the Body Former.
tues-seated rows and curls on the Body Former.
wed-same as mon.
thur-same as tues.
fri-same as mon.
sat-same as tues.

i also do pushups and tricep dips using "pushup bars"(they enable extra stretch and something to hold onto, thus, enhancing the effect of the given exercise)

i do a little bit of weights.a few sets of curls and some standing overheads about once every 10 days, just for a change of pace.

i still use my wavemaster martial arts striking target and the heavybag as well, for some
good kickboxer style workouts, but, they are down to maybe twice per week with the weather being what it is this time of the year.during spring, summer and the early part of the fall though,i do that stuff practically every day.

one thing i start really missing when the weather turns too cold is bicycling.
between april and october,i bike quite alot.between november and march, bicycling becomes virtually non-existent in my life............

First i watch what ieat. Stay away from sugar, fry food, and too much carbs. I find that if i don't frink any drink that contain sugar I can maitain or even loose a few pound.
I work out about three to four time a week. You have to do some cardio to burn calories. After that you can lift weight. I do two body parts a day . The more muscle you have the more you can burn calories.

I am 54, 5' 3 1/2" and 110 lbs. I can still wear the same clothes I wore in high school despite having 2 children--including one at 40 years of age.

I work out almost every day. When the weather is good I run 3.5 miles 3 times a week. When not I walk at the mall 5 or 6 miles 3 times a week. I do weight/strength training on the days I don't run or walk. Lately I've been going to the gym more often as my boyfriend goes almost every day. We are starting to work out together. Use the weight machines there and do cardio as well. I probably exercise about 10 to 12 hours a week--probably a bit more in the summer.

I don't watch my overall intake of food much. That is because I eat a plant-based diet mostly--and mostly organic. I make sure I get 8-10 servings of fruit and veggies a day concentrating on dark leafy greens/cruciferous veggies and berries/citrus fruits even though I eat all veggies and fruits. I eat 3-5 servings of grains/starches a day. Meat on holidays and sometimes once or twice a month otherwise. Fish 1 or 2 times a week--usually salmon, mackerel or tuna but sometimes shelfish as well. Try not to eat cookies, candy, cakes, etc. except on holidays. I do have one downfall however--DQ blizzards! Talk about junk!!! I try to keep those to one a week. Really wish they would make a half-size version though. The 12 oz. size is truly a bit too much but since I bought it I can't help but eat it all. And I drink lots and lots of water. Pretty much all I drink except for occasional juice and coffee maybe twice a week. Alcohol rarely.

I'm not sure if this is the right way to do a workout, but I've been on it for the last 3 to 4 months and lost about 20 lbs and still dropping.

4x a week, divided into the different groups. Every time I do an ab workout of 40 crunches with straight, sides, and legs down, and 45 mins of cardio, 30 min on bike with optimum heart rate and 15 on uphill power walk.

1 - Chest and Tri, 6 chest routines at 3 sets of 7-9 reps ascending with 3 tricep conentrations, same rep. All workouts are heavy weights.

2 - Legs, about 7 routines to cover all the muscle groups.

3 - Back and Bi, 7-8 back routines and 3 concentraions on the bicepts.

4. Shoulders and forearms, 4 shoulder workouts as by now they are quite sore from other chest and back routines and 4 usually conetrates enough, and 2 forearm work as the bicep work also puts some burn on. Then rest, and repeat.

My diet is not fantastic, No soda, lots of tea, but I'm not cooking super healthy. I try to cut carbs but I love pasta, so usually if I do eat any I am working out the same day. Veggies are important, low suger if I can manage it, protein shakes and fruits. I still have some gut but I'm loosing it bit by bit. For me, its a slow and steady struggle, as I have, in perspective, only been super serious for about 3 months and getting the right workouts took time. Hopefully by years end I will have dropped the weight I wanted. I was 275lbs at 6'5", and want to be 240 or lower, at my build I can't see going lower than that and not loosing muscle.

Right now?

I lift, free weights in my basement.-Upper body and some abs one day, legs and some abs the next - every other day - and usually take the weekend off. I am bad about shorting leg day if life gets busy (which it frequently does).

I know I need to add cardio to the mix - so I am working up to it. I just started back up in early Sep (after a year away), and have made some fantastic gains.

I'm 6' 1" and holding steady at around 195 lbs. My weight at the time of my DOT physical on the 14th of August: 232 lbs. It's possible to lose more weight, but it's getting too cold outside for that. So anyway, I walk several miles during a typical day, and during the week I hit the gym three times (twice, if I have sex at least once during the week). My typical workout follows: warm-up on the bike, then three sets (8-8-fail) of all of the following, sit-ups with weights on an incline, bench, incline, standing press, tricep curls, curls with a straight-bar or bumbell curls, shrugs, dead-lifts, rows, leg extensions, leg curls, and standing calf-raises. I conclude with a cool-down on the bike. By the way I'm 29. I don't take supplements of any kind, but consciously monitor my food intake. I hope this helps someone, and we're all in this together.

I work out for at least an hour doing weights at 430am . I work upper body one day lower body the next day. On the third day I do a long cardio session at least a one hour run. I also do a short cardio session latter in the day that I work out with weights. Either a half hour run out side or a 20 min high intensity ladder training on the tred mill. I work 12 hour shifts and still always make sure I find the time to exercise..

I keep it simple..15 minutes of pilates..maybe 20 "scrunches" a day depending on my work schedule.

No sugar..I do drink diet pepsi..I don't eat meat mainly fresh fruit-low fat yogurt & I take one b complex vitamin daily..what works for one may not work for you..I get my protein from albacore white tuna..I eat 4-5 small "meals" a day..have to keep my metabolism at attention.
