the captain doesn't take hearing the "L" word seriously unless he hears it out of bed.

used to have a neighbor, when i was a young sailor, older wench who would say before jumping me bone, "tell me you love me. you don't have to mean it. just tell me." it made her really hot to hear it and we'd band our pelvises raw while loudly professing our love for those nites. we both knew what it was and it was never a problem.

it sometimes pops out of wenches' mouths in the heat of passion. the key is recognizing the context in which it's said. it doesn't really bother the captain, though one of me wench friends will run a guys ass quick for uttering the "L" word. she complains to the captain when she notices them getting big puppy eyes that she knows it's coming and she's about to terminate his ass.

Too funny...cos it happened a few nights ago.... lol...and I ignored it.... I had too... HE said it and I just ignored it.

OUCH!.... pple say things you know...and it is just raw emotion and hormones and....well... sometimes you just got to go with the flow....and take things with a grain of salt.

a guy told me he loved me a long long long very long time ago....and well...we got married like a year later...and I don't think we should of...lol...., no seriously.

anyhow.. I did have a lover who I would say I love you to...and he to me...but we kept it in context...we knew it was more of ... I love how you are making me feel right now... I love how we do what we do...etc.. ..

biggest mistake... something I have not done...is get drunk and tell someone that I loved them....they might take you seriously... make note Men.

I was having sex with one of the most physically beautiful women I have ever seen in my entire life, including on television, when I mindlessly blurted this out during orgasm. I got a Dear John note from Yahoo the next day about how I "cheapened" the meaning of the word using it that way and never saw her again. I have little or no control over what comes out of my mouth during the moment of ejaculation. I could just as easily have said "I'm squirting in your hot fukking kunt!" As far as I am concerned, if she was that weirded out about it, she can just take her hot butt somewhere else. Beautiful or not, I do not want involvement with anyone who has idiot hangups.

sometimes you say things u don't really mean during sex or aftershocks
can that be accepted as a way of expressing excitement??
or would it sound rather like a freak?? - chantelle ahn

I am not sure how I would react to such a situation, since I don't say things I don't mean (unless I am
REALLY F*cking angry, in which case I don't say anything, 'til I have had a chance to cool off).
But then again, I usually wait until after I am falling in love with the person, before becoming intimate
with them.

So I don't really know how I would react in siad situation. I might be flattered, or even confused. But I
might also be a bit upset, because honesty is very important to me, in a relationship.

If your just havin sex and out pops I love you, it should be said like you mean it. If it's not said like you mean it why you having in the first place for? Then he/she used it as an impression. Always be sure you say it like you MEAN IT! If ya not sure, don't say it.

One should never say those important words unless one truly means them. Those three little words mean a great deal to a woman as they should to all human beings. Sometimes they are never said enough but, one should always mean them when and if they ever roll off of ones tongue.

I have learned to cover, because in the heat of the moment it has happened to me too. Once it pops out, just complete the sentence.... with "in my bed".

You shouldn't be saying things you're going to regret later, no matter WHAT you are doing. That's like being an idiot and blaming it on the beer you DIDN'T HAVE.

If you genuinely love someone, and you are fooling around and you say it, then you should damn well mean it. Otherwise don't say it at all.

That goes for in general, as well.

Wow... Well... It might not be the best time to say something like that...not because it's not true, but because someone might think you're insincere... that is, if you enjoy sex for it's own sake as many of us do.

The time to say "I love you" is when you have a clear head and you're not under the momentary influence of lust.... which has nothing to do with love.

We don't have sex with people because we love them. We could easily choose people we don't want to be part of our every day lives... But to me, that's what love is.. wanting someone in your life every day.

Tell me I'm crazy?

OP -- if you say it during sex, with someone you've known maybe a couple weeks or less, then it's creepy and I'd kick that person outta my bed in a flash.

Utter it during sex, after maybe a couple months or so (you know, after actually getting to know someone), then not so much an issue as an excitement to hear.

Timing is everything.

I think some people make a big deal of it. In the heat of the moment or the excitement you can say things that may mean the thing itself or some other, a variant of that thing.

Example:

-I love you could mean I love you, capital L
-Or it could mean: I really dig you
etc

Everything depends on how it's said, context, etc.

No need to make a rule where you can never say it unless you mean it, or said it first oustide of sex... my god how complicated!

I like the rule that whatever is said/done in bed stays there and doesnt count. I have said many things in the moment that I would not say at any other time ... so me I would ignore it if I heard it in bed and hope they would do the same.

I've been known to say it afterwards when I'm relaxing in my state of sheer bliss. I always mean it when I say it too. It is just that in my post-orgasmic glow I tend to be more open with my feelings.

BUT.... then I realize how it must look to the guy I'm in bed with, so I will typically follow it up with a flustered "um... I mean, I love you for you. Not because of the sex. That is, it is you inside that I love, not your body or your penis. Not saying I don't love your body or your penis, because I do. I really love your penis in fact. But... I just mean.. ummm.. forget I said anything".

Thankfully I only date guys with a sense of humour!

My last girlfriend was performing fellatio and, every so often, would stop for a moment to say "I love you" before resuming. After the third time, I was really getting into it, and said "I love you, too." She stopped blowing me and looked me dead in the eye, with more than a hint of irritation, and said, "This is an A to B conversation. Would you mind C-ing yourself out of it." Then went back to what she was doing. I didn't know whether she was kidding or not, but I kept my mouth shut (mostly) until they were finished.

Things happen. So much about learning is context specific; and if you've ever made love to someone you deeply love, you've felt this, and probably said it. Fast forward time, and you're with someone else in a similar situation, you may, for a millisecond, feel love for, or towards, that person.

We say, feel, and do things when we are chemically, hormonally, or endorphin charged that we would not say, feel, or do when clear headed and rational. We have ALL said and done things when we were angry that we TRULY did not feel when we had calmed down. I woke up one time with all of my clothes folded neatly in the living room. This, on some level, made sense when I was drinking! The throws of passion can be as mind altering as any drug. If we are two shakes away from a simultaneous orgasm; you could blow up the house; and I'm not going to notice; much less get upset; I'm d*mn sure not going to hold you responsible for anything you say.

I've said it, and had it said to me, in cases where otherwise it would not be appropriate. Anyone who is in complete control of whatever they say or feel while having sex, is simply way too uptight for good sex. Let it go!

What's the mantra? "COMMUNICATE" If you are afraid they took it wrong, let them know. But if it was said during sex; it was probably said during a beautiful moment; don't make them feel bad about it.

Bottom line: you cannot hold someone totally responsible for what happens in a mind altered state. If someone says "I love you" during sex, accept it for what it was; a statement in a altered state of consciousness, and move on. If you want to punish them for it, make them be on top next time.

Women associate emtion with sex..this is natural. If I said it I meant it, no where it was said. I dont expect people just to ignore it. Geesh

I can control what I say BEFORE I cum. WHILE I am cumming I mostly just grunt. When the women I am with cum they are lucky if they can get out 1 or 2 intelligent words. . .let alone a whole sentence like: I love you.
Yes. You can say you just said it because you were excited.
Would you sound like a freak? maybe the very first time with someone you do not really know that well. . .but then again, that is just another risk of first date sex.
This one woman I know said it to me the first time and we had only dated a couple of times and--yes--it was a bit upsetting to me as I did not know if I should return the sentiment.
Now THERE is a BETTER discussion for another : do you RETURN it?

I have to agree. The "L" word should not be tossed around along with the sheets unless you really mean it. And again...the clear head and no other influence. Who wants to hear."Oh sorry, it was the booze talking"..or, " It was the heat of the moment..ooops"

This happened to me back in the day. Fooling around, and in the middle of a good thing..I hear the THREE WORDS! ....picture this...You know the scene in a movie where music is playing and all of a sudden you hear the needle on the turntable DRAAAAG across the grooves of your favorite album? or the Brakes to a car screeeech? yup..that did it for me.
