| What makes a player? Posted: 3/12/2008 12:21:18 PM | people with little ability to assess quality on their own often rely on society to make that assessment... ...many (most?) people are very poor at assessing how a series of events will turn out
This is a profound set of statements. How people react to what they perceive is often fueled by what society has taught them. And a lot of the time what society teaches is fallacy. Hence, the difference between a player, a jerk, a cheater, a nice guy... whatever. She'll decide what she REALLY thinks about the guy based on her past experiences and what society has taught her. And never really looks at herself while determining what the problems are.
Just because a guy can do better, doesn't mean he's an a$$ for rejecting a woman after a short term relationship. He gave them a chance, actually, so don't call him a player.

| What makes a player? Posted: 3/12/2008 3:14:00 PM | I cannot claim professionalism on the topic…but my two cents:
Some people seemed to have confused dating versus being a player!
I think a player is someone who uses others for sex either consecutively or simultaneously for their personal gain or gratification, without sincere regard for or interest in their partner(s) well being, while implying otherwise.
Q: "If a man is attractive to many women and he indulges in the pleasures they offer him, does that automatically make him a player?"
A: This does not automatically make him a player. He becomes a player when he gives these women unrealistic expectations, false hope or is plain dishonest just to ensure his continued gratification.
Q: "Alternatively, is a player a man who lies about himself, his job or does whatever it takes to bed a woman? "
A: If he is lying with the sole intention of bedding her, then yes he is a player. But, I would like to expound from experience; if he (my ex) was interested in her (me) for more than sex and foresaw a possible long-term relationship and initially lied about his age, etc. because he feared rejection, then no he was not a player. I am not condoning lying, but just wanted to make a distinction.

Are you suggesting that a player can only attract sluts? I am sure that many women here will take exception to this idea.

In this day and age there is nothing sexi about a guy who gets around.

No, I don't think so...

Yes, this is a player...

Alright. So what do you call a man that makes love to many women, but is truthful with them about it? Makes love? Are you delusional? "To many women" you are not making love, you are f*cking around.
Now what would I call a man such as this? Shallow, definitely. Emotionally disordered, in that intimacy/commitment is an issue. Creepy. and a disease risk. Did you know that decent women view men who sleep around as disgusting? Yeah. Add disgusting to the list.

I’ve met so many women that just want to treat me like a sausage with legs. I have feelings too! Poor you.

Ahhh...I jest....What makes a player? Depends I guess. I would not know anything about being a player at all so I am very much out of my realm here. I am a very good girl that would never even think of being a player...
I'm more like a Bonafide Hustla...

Actually I'm a decent woman and I don't automatically view men that have sex with a lot of woman disgusting. I don't look at a having sex or even having a lot of sex as inherently bad. Some people are simply more sexual than others and if you throw extroversion into the mix then they will be highly sexual. Having sex isn't disgusting, it is only the reasons why that make it so.

This is a good point. I'm not asking about a man addicted to sex. Not a man that looks for hookers late at night.
Something else to think about is a man that has had sex with many women doesn't need to ask how to please his lover. Pleasing a woman has become 2nd nature to him.

| What makes a player? Posted: 3/13/2008 5:03:26 PM | In this case... what makes a player is making a thread to draw angry responses. He did an excellent job.
In an arena where women vastly outnumber men one of the ways to get attention is to get negative attention. Women feel empowered when they vastly outnumber men... so they respond.

Lol! Now, now... you're ruining the scoundrel image if you reduce yourself to coming up with positive reasons to justify having sex with a lot of wimmen. *grins*
|
| What makes a player? Posted: 3/13/2008 6:34:10 PM | Not at all. What I'm attempting justify is why so many women may perfer a man with experience.
Consider the alternative; "No, my clit is a little higher."

Always so modest...
Consider the alternative; "No, my clit is a little higher."
Does it reflect badly on a woman if she actually can relate to that? Ohhh... the bad memories...

Um, should I pull the foot out of your mouth for you? Or would you prefer some catsup? Players are supposed to be smoooooth Jack. You're killing it for the rest of us. No, wait! We're still cool. What I meant to say was THANKS for taking the heat off for the rest of us. Keep up the good work!
