| X Factor 2007 Posted: 12/16/2007 1:38:27 PM | Leon won becasue he was the underdog. Yes he is very cute. And very humble. And obviously adores his mum.
What seems to have been overlooked is the fact he has only been singing for 11 months, 6 of which he has been involved in X Factor. For someone so young he has a raw talent that can be developed. And he does have a voice that lends itself to many different styles of music, especially the swing type he favours so much. Rhydian proved that he couldnt carry that off on saturday night with the last song, despite having an amazing operatic voice (he will be performing in the West End for years) Whats more ALL the contestants had the bottle to get up on stage in front of millions, sing LIVE and try their hardest. There aren't many who could have done that. And for the most part they were good.
None of them as far as I could see had to wear those earplug things so they could hear themselves sing in tune... Unlike Jason Donovan....
So good luck to Leon I say. Its nice to see an 18 year old with a goal in life.

Fair play to Leon for someone who had never performed before or really had any training.
And for everyone who slates Same Difference, okay they may be a bit too saccharine sweet but they were the most polished and had the most difficult routines to deal with. It is not easy to sing and dance at the level they were doing it.
Oh, one more thing, the contestants don't have the ear pieces because they are not allowed, dictated by the producers, that's why in the very first lot of live shows tuning can often be all over the place as it takes time to adjust.

Oh behave bluebrummie and stop being silly. Just accept the fact that the majority of the population of the nation have NO taste! Nothing is 'fixed' it's down to the average's opinion, and as are most things in life the average opinion is extremely lacking. I agree about the opinion thing but don't just have a pop at me, others on here said it was fixed too! As for being silly, I like being silly, silly is good, whoop whoop!

It never hurt Will Young.
Gareth who??? | |

Gareth who???
Lol....exactly!!!
I pretty much knew Leon would win and agree with OP, Rhydian aint going to be without. Got to say though, his version of When You Believe, was very moving.
Same Difference did really well to get into the final and again, I think they'll get somewhere. They'd make brilliant presenters on say......cbeebies

| X Factor 2007 Posted: 12/17/2007 8:53:24 AM | I think it was fixed as well. It was promoted as a contest between Wales, England and Scotland. Coincidence or what? As for Same Difference, did anyone notice that the male half of the duo couldn't actually sing that well? It was all carried by her - in terms of looks and voice. Oh and there was a priceless moment on GMTV this morning when the presenter was interviewing Leon and started waxing lyrical about Rhydian. Leon just that there and I think he suddenly realised he wasn't being very tactful.... | |

| X Factor 2007 Posted: 12/17/2007 9:07:01 AM | Why, when someones favourite doesn't win, do people start shouting 'Its a fix'?
(That isn't directed at anyone in particular, but it seems a common thing to say regarding competitions)
Personally, I think Rhydian was the better singer, but I was sooo happy that Leon won it. The best thing about it was Rhydians face when they called out Leons name. The guy is so arrogant and up himself he couldn't believe he hadn't won. His face said it all for me, and therefore I think Leon was a far more deserving winner.

Using monitors isn't really any reflection on ability. Most musicians use some form of monitoring if they are working with a large PA/Sound system and band/orchestra. I've seen footage of Pavarroti using in-ear monitors and he was no slouch as a musician.
Oh, one more thing, the contestants don't have the ear pieces because they are not allowed, dictated by the producers, that's why in the very first lot of live shows tuning can often be all over the place as it takes time to adjust.
They probably have underfloor monitors instead. Pitching your voice without being able to hear it would be nigh on impossible. Hearing it over a band/backing track being played loud enough to project to a large room would likewise be nigh on impossible.
