| Do you believe in ghosts? Posted: 12/7/2007 3:08:00 PM | Starting from when I was about 10 yrs old, I would hear a jillion (estimate) people "whispering" desperately in my ears ALL THE TIME. They were whispering SO FAST, and there were SO MANY of them, I had to bat them all away. So they were there kind of flowing around me too (only flowing REALLY FAST). I still hear them at times, and it's a tad frustrating, because they are too impatient so I can't quite hear individuals.
OK, now that you know I'm strange: Yes, I believe there is "the other side", and some people on OUR side can actually make some sense of what those are DESPERATELY trying to say to us. I consider these to be ghosts.

| Do you believe in ghosts? Posted: 12/7/2007 9:25:10 PM | Yes I do believe in Ghosts. I am a paranormal investigators. And yes we have gotten some rather interesting evidence.
We did a hunt in September. We got some great EVP's.
We would ask questions and get answers back, after we went back over the recordings.
The home we were investigating, had a little girl who lived there around 1810. Her name was Rebecca. She had a room in the attic.
We asked the question. Rebecca, is this your trunk? Storage trunk.
We got a Male voice saying: I am not Rebecca.
There were no males in the attic. Only females. 4 females when this evp was caught.
And we do get some things we can not debunk. We believe more in the scientific part of Ghost Hunting. We debunk the evidence to death.
We have had many articles written about our group and we have been on TV and we have been on the radio.
Thanks for posting this topic.

Posted: 12/8/2007 8:23:39 AM | | Shadowdancing, I didn't mean it made ME sad and fearful...I meant that it seemed like a sad and fearful belief system. ..but...as I said...I certainly respect them. I don't want to "skip over" your posts or anyone else's, because I do like to hear what everyone has to say about their beliefs. I'm sorry if I offended you in any way...it's just that these are ideas I've never heard expressed by anyone before, and I was wondering where you came upon them (books, church, etc.) Very interesting to me that you came upon some of them through a near death experience. Would be very interested in hearing more about that.

I live several hours from battlefields from both the War of 1812 as well as the Indian Wars. No stories about ghosts around them...Nor any sightings And there should hundreds...if not thousands...of spectres in the area.... I guess you have to apply in advance to become a ghost... Maybe audition...

If your mind isn't open to the possibility, there's no way anyone is ever going to convince you that they exist. It's a block and nothing will be able to remove it unless something happens to make you believe. You can call me a liar or that I have a mental problem or whatever and that doesn't matter to me because I've been called worse, but when you see them with your very own eyes or hear them with your very own ears, it's just kinda hard not to believe.
My 2 cents worth.... | |

| Do you believe in ghosts? Posted: 12/9/2007 9:01:16 AM | The fact of the matter is that no one knows for sure exactly what happens after we die. Everyone has a different opinion. And that's all it is: An opinion.
My Mother and I were very close. When I was a child, I would sometimes cry at just the thought of her dying. When I was about 10 years old, I talked to her about death and dying and made her promise that she would, if there were anyway possible, let me know that she was ok and would communicate with me after her death. We again had this conversation several years before she died.
After she died, I would sit out in the backyard, alone at night and would beg her to communicate with me. I felt nothing at all. I grieved terribly for months and months. Then one night I had a vivid dream that she was sitting on the foot of my bed talking to me. I woke up very emotional. The over powering grieving eased up after that. I sometimes feel like she is with me.
This is my dirty little secret that I have never told to a soul: I have/had a half sister who I've never met. I found her and got in contact with her a few years ago and told her about myself. She was overjoyed to have a brother we exchanged pictures and she really wanted to meet me. We lived only 100 miles apart. Her husband, I believe, put a stop to us developing a relationship or even meeting. I think he thought that I was wanting money. He seemed to be a very suspicious/skeptical type person. Like I say, at first she believed me and was happy to have a brother. Then she doubted me and wanted DNA prof. I agreed to a DNA test but before we could have the test, cancer got her. Our relationship mostly consisted of arguing about paternity via email. In fact, she started to really resent the hell out of me. I ended all contact because she only had about 4 months to live and I didn't want to cause her or her family anymore stress. Oddly enough I sometimes strongly feel her presents. I will talk to her and say things like "Now you know the truth", etc. Sometimes I feel like Fred Sanford talking to Elisabeth. In all seriousness, however, it is very emotional. I just as well be talking to the wall. I guess it's only my imagination. Who knows?
I've had other experiences of feeling like I was being watched but this could be only my imagination. I don't know.
The strongest feeling that I've ever had was when I visited Gettysburg. It was overwhelming.

| Do you believe in ghosts? Posted: 12/9/2007 2:31:41 PM | Tyronechews, I have learned as a spiritualist that sometimes our loved ones can't come to visit right after they leave us. We need grieving time. Grief is a way of getting past the pain and if we didn't grieve, we would never get past it. They give us a bit of time to get there before they begin visiting with us. Usually, by the time they visit us, our grief is at a point where we can tolerate seeing and/or hearing them again without completely losing it all over again. They love us and would do anything to not cause that much pain. It already hurts them to see us this way to begin with. I know this because my beloved Dad didn't visit me for a while after he passed in 1986 and I know of others who have had similar experiences.
The "dream" you had with your Mom sitting at the foot of the bed is literally called a visitation. When our minds and bodies sleep at night, our spirits do not. We are free to leave the body and go where we want to and/or visit anyone we want to. There are no conscious restraints to hold us back. It is during our conscious "awake" times that make us doubt that such things exist. While sleeping, it's no holds barred. It's basically an OBE while sleeping. You can come and go as you please and sometimes we remember those experiences as dreams. Not all dreams are real, but if you experience one that is so vivid it seems like you're literally with the person you're dreaming about, take it for what it is. Enjoy the time that you got to spend with that person because this is the only way that you can do it without passing on yourself.
So, in essence, I would say that your Mom did remember her promise to you, but she gave you time to do your grieving and then came for that promised visitation. Our loved ones visit us often and I'm sure she is around alot without your knowledge. Look for small signs. You'll see her when you least expect it.

| Do you believe in ghosts? Posted: 12/10/2007 1:38:26 AM | I began seeing ..people.. when i was very young. I would wake the whole house screaming. eventually I stopped screaming but would continue seeing these people whoever they were because to me they were people. I have experienced so many things that not to believe would be to live a fear based lifestly. shadowdancer I would like to ask, in your belief of god is there room for unconditional love?

There are ghosts and then there are spirits.
I believe in spirits... (people watching us from the other side) and I believe in ghosts... (past energies that revisit an area occasionally)

| Do you believe in ghosts? Posted: 12/10/2007 10:51:44 AM | | I've read a bit about this rather unpredictable phenomenon of seeing, or sensing in some other way, such as hearing, smelling, or touching, beings who are physically not fully present. The reason some people have more experiences than others is because their body fluids are more ideally suited for the spirit who wishes to make itself known to use to produce the sensations. If you find yourself to be one of these you are to some degree a medium. You may also be able to summon by thought the spirit of someone living who's body is asleep or someone who is capable of something called astral projection. These spirits, because they're known to you and you to them may also appear spontaneously "to visit unexpectedly" as it were. Communication is by thought. However, the spirit is far more capable of reading your thoughts than you are of its thoughts while you remain in the conscious state. It follows then that more of the visiting and conversation occurs after we fall asleep, when it is said we all astral project. Needless to say, all of this makes a greater case for consciousness surviving death of the body. Private conversation with a surviving member of a very happy and long married couple may reveal that the deceased partner remains near the one still living, their permanent departure from this plane accomplished, as was all they did while living, as a pair. | |

| Do you believe in ghosts? Posted: 12/10/2007 11:16:40 AM | If you read the bible you'd know the answer, it says "the dead are contious of nothing" What we know as ghost are not the deceased, but fallen angels/wicked spirits who pretend to be dead spirits.. They appear as Aliens, the virgin mary in lourdes, Dead ancesters you name it, The bible says no wonder the devil himself transforms himself in to an angel of light..The dead are asleep and awaiting the resurrection, not floating around scaring people, wanting to be contacted or are lost on some other plane. Thats why the bible forbids contacting the dead, as its not the dead but wicked spirits who desire human acknowledgement and worship. | |
|
| Do you believe in ghosts? Posted: 12/10/2007 1:55:57 PM | ^^^^^^^^^^
What a god-awful approach to things!
To say the Virgin Mary who appeared in Lourdes is an evil spirit is a damning statement, one made from a horrific vantage point. In Mexico, Our Lady of Guadelupe still defies modern science. It's easy enough to follow.
UFO's have been caught on film all over planet earth. While we may not understand that, we no longer adhere to the flat earth concept. To cancel everyone else's beliefs and visions is hogwash. One person's version of evil is not necessarily that of others.
There are things we do not understand. They are only evil and ugly when we assign those qualities to them. We see evil where we impose it, on ourselves as well as on others.
It is estimated that as many as 80% of the world's population believes in reincarnation and some mighty good cases are made to substantiate it, as are near-death experiences. Edgar Cayce taught Bible studies, yet in trance he gave mighty good testimonies on the unexplained and in one case proved that he had lived and where. In recent years, an American police chief started seeing visions of a past life and went to France where he ended up at what would have been his own grave in a former life.
For those who see things, have seen things, will see things, feel good that you were given such a gift. For those who would cancel you out, they probably don't see much, walking around with their eyes closed. Open minds accept that there are things beyond our comprehension, but then there are 100 billion stars in the Milky Way alone. To dwell on that can be overwhelming. Still, to deny the realities hardly shows progressive thinking. Once upon a time some dared to suggest the earth was not flat, and some were burned at the stake for it, and by none other than those who claimed to be preaching the Word. We should have learned.
As for the Bible and Jesus, I suggest that you look up the following sites, where it is quite clear that Jesus, as taught by so many, is more myth than reality. It does not take away from the Christ spirit, but it surely puts a damper on those who damn the rest of the world for its beliefs.

| Do you believe in ghosts? Posted: 12/10/2007 8:27:07 PM | ShadowDancing: All I can do is explain how I came to the understandings that I have. It's perfectly fine for all of us to have our own belief systems. We are all here to experience our lives to the fullest. You are where you are and I'm where I am... I hope you are happy with your belief systems. I am with mine and really enjoy the spiritual freedom I have.
Seems to me that – you guys believe in reincarnations and stuff like that. I could be wrong but that is how it seems. “Reincarnation” is a concept I totally don’t believe in.
Yes I believe in reincarnation. I have had several spontaneous past life memories surface that explained and relieved a few fears that I have had. Nothing really serious but these fears would crop up now and again and I didn't know why I had them. After learning about the past lives those fears connected with them, stopped. I recognized the souls/spirits of current family and friends in these past lives which helped me to understand the relationships that I have with them now. It's a very rewarding and healing process... Hypnotherapy is a great way to access these past life memories and help you to rid yourself of fears.. if your not into meditating. I didn't have any hypnotherapy to remember them.
When the concept of reincarnation, soul groups and 'contracts or agreements made with other souls while you are planning out your physical life were explained to me it was during a near death type experience that I had when I was a teenager. I had stopped breathing, went down a tunnel and found a few very traditional looking men with robes and white beards:) they explained many things to me during this experience. Since then I have had two more, near death experiences where I gained more understandings.
If it were up to the soul then why would any soul want to be appointed to a starving family with diseases and in a poor country? That is absolutely illogical!!! To gain the understandings that only a life such as this can give. through many lifetimes we can have many experiences. I can remember starving to death. Death is just another part of life... death is going to our real home.
btw: I don't believe in the religious concept of 'the devil' :) that should get you going *grin*

| Do you believe in ghosts? Posted: 12/31/2007 5:04:36 AM | Simply put yes I do.
What they are or aren't I don't know. No one will know for sure until you pass. They could be people that lived. angels/demons. From different planes of existence/ different dimensions. Illusions of the mind or brain. who knows for sure that there is life after death.
But one day I will find out and so will everyone. So until then.

| Do you believe in ghosts? Posted: 12/31/2007 11:06:49 AM | Mystic, what a wonderful old soul you are. Would like to meet you. However, Alabama is a long way from New Brunswick.
Hooray for Edgar Cayce! What a wonderful gift he had.
Yes, I know that ghosts exist. I also know that spirits exist. It's not merely a belief. I've met some. It doesn't matter to me whether everyone honors ghosts and spirits, it matters that I do.
I've also experienced past lives. They are very real. Was I really there? I believe I was. Some people would say that I experienced cellular memory via DNA from ancestors. So, I was there and experienced it, lived it, and died. It was real.
I've also had three NDEs, one at age4, one at age 5, one as a teenager. This certainly changes lives. Try it sometime. Someone told me that when the early Christians baptized, they held the person underwater until they almost drowned so they would have an NDE. What a concept. Did it happen? I dunno, I wasn't there and haven't had the pleasure of experiencing a memory of a past life during that time.
Thank you for the analogy of people walking around with their eyes closed. For it is only with the heart, soul and mind that we truly seen and not with our eyes. They have more than their eyes closed.
Personally, I live behind my eyes.
God's Love and Blessings to All.

| Do you believe in ghosts? Posted: 12/31/2007 12:56:08 PM | | as i have said many times there is no way to prove anything does not exist ...especialy when you consider other dimensions... but i have seen no evidence for their existence... i have been to many places supposed to be haunted with no paranormal events .. i am fascinated by the folklore but it has not been supported ... in my younger days i roamed this country for several years on a motorcycle doing odd jobs for food and gas money this was done by design not hard luck.. it was an experience i cherish and may repeat ... but in my travels I found that places like graveyards were the safest and quietest places to spend the night the spookier the better ... sleeping in the open can be dangerous in some cities but if you find a cemetery you will be safe ... never been bothered by the dead ....its the live ones that will rob and kill you ... and I have spent many night sleeping with the dead ( that sounds sick ) you know what i mean LOL...i can pretty much say that if i ever do encounter a ghost i will shake his hand and ask for an autograph ....i have seen some scary live people but the dearly departed will cause us no harm even if they do come back... can think of several things id like to ask a ghost though | |

| Do you believe in ghosts? Posted: 12/31/2007 2:05:54 PM | in addition to my previous post ... I do believe in people being possessed by evil spirits ... as a corrections officer at a county jail...i have seen it on two occasions ..case1 a young man in jail for the brutal murder and dismemberment of his girl friend ... most of the time he was a likeable guy if not for me knowing what he had done .... but at times he would loose all experssion his eyes would turn jet black ...and the room would feel like the temperature was dropping though the cell block was a constant temp i have seen this several times with him but unlike the next case he was reclusive when having one of his whatevers
case 2 a young lady was brought in for us to hold while her family got her in a mental institution ... we were holding her under a court order for her protection and her families protection as well ... she had attempted both murder and suicide... i talked to this young lady extensively .... she admitted she was possessed and warned me to be careful when she was under control of the spirits ( her words) ... she told me she had gotten that way by her and her boyfriend experimenting in the occult ..... as with the other case her eyes would turn black and there would be a noticeable drop in perceived temperature in the room when she was under control of the spirits ... the difference with her was she was a small girl about 90 pounds ... i and my fellow officers were quiet large and know how to handle inmates out of control ... this little girl threw me across the room with one hand... and it took seven officers to restrain her ... i would not have believed how she was handling all us grown men if i had not seen it ... after her spell she apologized and was genuinely concerned that she had hurt me ...as i had tried to be her friend within the limits of officer inmate relationships...she knew what had happened but said it was beyond her control ...I believe HER......... i dont do that kind of work any more
