just remember that any weapon you choose to use can be used against you just as easily. you're always best off with just your wits and your hands and feet.

unless of course you're being shot at from a distance. then you need kevlar.

Interesting tips guys. I allways wanted to learn some technique (used to wrestle in HS though). Some of you guys seem to find yourself in some serious situations though--how do you get in those situations so much?

This thread reminds me of a joke

I am a lover, not a fighter---If somebody messes with me----I do their girlfriend.
Get em where it hurts. :)

a true warrior has no need for weaponsa true warrior used the powers of his mind to cloude the enemies thoughts like muddy waters slow his reaction and then you can hit him with the numchucks or shurkens

IanJ- regarding the knees,

if you manage to get yourself in this position, kick/strike the OUTSIDE of your attackers knees, with their foot ON THE GROUND if possible. I can almost guarantee that their MCL will tear and they will have an awfully tough time should they choose to keep fighting.

In some countries possessing a gun will get you 25yrs to life.

---in a few years...good ol' America will be in the same situation...and the sad part is...the majority of our population will thank uncle slam for doing it. All in the name of Homeland Insecurity...of course.

By the way, where is Waldo? AKA Osama?

Better question...why are we after him? Did we hire him to terrorize other third world countries like we hired Saddam?

Ok...enough of the politics...

Ninja Master...man, you should open up a dojo with all that experience. Good luck with the tomato stand, too.

But, seriously, everyone threw in some really good pointers, and if I may add one, it's that the most difficult part of learning to defend yourself is to be willing to hit someone with the intent to hurt them badly. busting someone's nose with your head is excellent advice, but are you willing to potentially permanently damage someone's face to win? gotta be a warrior, i say, both in body and spirit. read "The Art of War" for a little insight on attaining the perception of a warrior. good luck everyone.

If any girls are reading this.

Get your hand free when you can and punch him in the throat (the adams apple)..and as hard as you can.

Then run like he*l away. Maybe grab a phone when you are a safe distance away and/or in the vicinity of other folks and call an ambulance for the guy.

*shrugs*

He's going to need one bad.

If the guys has died; you probably get off. YOu stopped the threat to you, and that...is so..allowed.

Fuc*er shouldn't have grabbed you anyways; it COULD be "him"..or "you".

the placing one shin across the front of both of the enemies legs directly below the knees and my other leg across the crook of thier knees, rolling across the ground sideways will cause the gent to get quickly aquianted with the pavement,

Unless his legs are strong as oaks...as many of them are. Unless you're a Gracey student, this coudl get you in bad.

I say punch him in the bag if you're down there..and hit him in the knees..at a cross angle from "in" to "out" OR "out" to "in"..as long as you have a clear line on those knees kick harder than you ever have before. and make it straight across.

*shrugS*

The nuts sure work well though. *shrugs* Mine do anyways.

you always attack towards incapacitation, if this means death, so be it.

I fully do agree, The law is on your side. (and the f*cker has to know..that he just fuc*ed up huge)
one time i got ganged up on and i beat them all off

lmfao

true mastery....

P.S. Girls. Most people tear when their noses are struck..so that could help you too. Poking his eyes out can realy work..and I mean gouge those things as deep as you can go.

*shrugs*

Then bust his knee with a straight kick just for being an as*.....then run like hel*

(If you do this, the law will NOT be on your side; as they will see the loss of his eyes as incapacitating him and making you no longer under threat)

Thus; let him hobble home. He started it anyways.

One good bit of prevention which all Japanese and Chinese girls seem to practice over here is to get on their 'keitai' mobile phones as soon as they get on the street. If the area is dark the fact that the girls are on the phone and have someone to immediately scream "Help!" to seems to deter the worst.

Prevention is the best recourse...

this is just what I have always done, whether on the streets of NYC, Boston or here at home near Providence.

Never be alone on the streets at night, always be with a friend, especially if it is late.

If you see a bunch of men/boys late night acting up, don't get too close, but don't act scared either, just go about your business.

Don't draw undue attention to yourself.

Carry a cellphone and have it handy.

Don't walk or carry yourself like a potential victim. Walk tall and brisk, you have some place to go, get there.

When using public transportation, if something seems off, listen to your gut and get out of there, wait for the next bus, move to the next subway car, whatever... you're instincts are almost always right.

Thankfully, I've never had to defend myself, but I would in a heartbeat if I had to and I would (almost) pity the poor mofo who messed with me because I wouldn't go down without a heII of a fight (while my cell was dialing 911!)

Thanks also guys for all the helpful tips. Always good to add to the tool box of stuff I hope I never have to use.
