| “Accidental” PoF Meeting?? Posted: 6/20/2009 9:02:28 AM | There is no accidental meeting on POF, just a matter of beating the odds.
Reminds me of the shrimp tank at my favorite Sushi place. Every one in there is starving and knows they get eaten sooner or later But none jump out to volunteer
Would be more practical if we each had out on little shrimp tank...

| “Accidental” PoF Meeting?? Posted: 6/20/2009 9:33:57 AM | Interesting analogy ML because there seems to be alot of shrimps on POF I guess if people are to afraid to meet they could just look at the sign up sheet for an event and circle around the venues parking lot and the "accidently" bump cars. You could exchange information and then the ice has been broken. Might as well sit together at thee event and sip a beveridge to calm the nerves. Voila you have had your first date. I have visions of a very crazy parking lot at Mosquito creek tonight ! | |

BonnieB, YOU are hilarious, ya, that would be quite the, "Accidental" way to meet the potential love of your life, in a parking lot accident at a POF event.
But, isn't that usually how it is done, by accident??????

I saw you a couple of weeks back at a grocery store too lol or someone who looked a lot like you. Thought about saying hello. But I considered discretion better so let it be. Halifax is a small city. It happens a lot. When I was more a regular on here a few years back then I saw women I knew all the time.
Chance encounters with people from POF are not always opportunities sadly. Not everyone takes it well. As a guy we have to be concerned about saying hello in that way (even when it is a simple hello) as it can be perceived as some kind of stalking thing. When you are not good looking or a pretty boy then that a womans first reaction tends to be defensive. Can't blame them really in this day and age. There have been women on the NS forum before complaining about men saying hello after recognizing them from POF and getting upset. So if one wants to be polite then I guess one is out of luck. Oh well.

| “Accidental” PoF Meeting?? Posted: 6/23/2009 3:22:19 PM | I've always thought it would be nice to have an accidental run-in with a Poffer who recognized me from here & stopped to chat with me then perhaps asked if I wanted to have coffee after we finished our shopping or errands, because it would be a natural meeting instead of that interview-like first meeting but so far nada. I see people, mostly guys, staring at me when I'm out & about & often wonder if they recognize me from here or elsewhere. Quite possible that some do but don't approach me either because they aren't interested or think I might ream them out if they did.
I ran into a woman from the forums at a concert I went to. I waited until her companion had walked away then went up to her & discreetly asked if she was "user name" from POF. I felt comfortable doing this because she & I know each other from the forums & we've attended a couple of the same events too. I was 100% it was her but she denied knowing anything about POF, so I told her she has a look-a-like twin somewhere, apologized & walked away.
My nephew did the photography for the concert & when looking through his pics, I spotted her in one of the crowd pics he took. I asked if I could borrow the pic & compared it to her profile pic on here. Bingo! Same person, same hairstyle, same necklace, same watch, same shade of lipstick. I don't understand why she would deny being this user because we even sat at the same table at one of the events we were at & chatted briefly after being introduced to each other by another Poffer. Seems strange to me.
