I did not read your profile only your residence. There was no need to read your profile. Your post speaks volume. I am taking a leap here of you residence status. You are an emigrant from Africa arranging the furniture in Ontario and now attempting to arrange the furniture here from the border. If I'm wrong, it doesn't matter. My previous post still stands and my agreement with the other posters. I will suggest that you abandon hate and try love, because love is lifting. I think the problem you ran into with this thread is that your underlying sentiment was to easily surfaced...anyone who is reasonably intelligent will infer from the information given and the subsequent messages posted by you that your intent was to express your outrage at a black woman being brutalized by whites so severely and the incident not getting the media attention that you deemed it worthy of, not crimes against humanity.
I think a couple days on the news is not good enough,

Let's say you're the Editor of a newspaper or a Local TV station. What sells more? Some sad incident involving some nobodies or a stupid and barely newsworthy item but that has some celb in it?
Obviously the later will sell or garner many more viewers which in turn will generate more revenues. This isnt just a US thing, it's pretty much all countries whose based on a market economy. Journalism has stopped being there for reporting news but now, even tho they still report news, what goes on the first page isnt so much what's newsworthy but what will make them the most money. I guess it's a fine balancing act but far too often if not all the time, the $$$ side will win. Dont blame the journalists after all they do what they enjoy in part because of the money they can make. Dont blame the editor, he's got folks breathing down his neck too!
Blame society in general and the way we live, sadly not sure you can have journalistic integrity on one end and revenues on the other, they will contradict itself more often than not.
You want change, move to a communist country or a country who has a government run news agency. Then again, you're screwed there too, because they will run what's good for the government!! You cant win!!! | |

We live in a celebrity obsessed culture, and if you wish to really know what is going on in the 'real world' you go have to get your news from a variety of sources including network, cable, internet, radio, newspapers and independent sources.
I get what you are saying, because although America has been home for more than 20 years I am still amazed sometimes at some of the things that goes on. When you are abroad what you see on TV is different from what you'll experience living here, but it is the people that make America the great country that it is and from my experience they are mostly good.

It's Thanksgivin weekend here and I have a lot to be thankful, one of those things being able to get up everyday and living and another is having the priviledge and the right to express my opinion. The point of my post is lost on some and others see where I am coming from.

The problem here is that the black race can onluy go back a few hundred years. Most whites can go back hundreds and hundreds of years. whites can most likely go back to and trace their heritage to a certain village or part of a country. Blacks can't do that. Sure , they are from africa. but, what part, what tribe? They do not know where they came from, where they are at and where they are going. They don't know their true culture. With chips on the shoulder like the OP that dosen't help anything. Most of you don't read into OP 's thread...it's all hate, no doubt it!...it's a confused race, was, is and always will be...What the blacks have to do is do DNA test and trace back to their tribe and they will find that they came form a very good tribe with courage and other traits that they could be proud of and know more about their history.....all's they know now is at one time they were slaves and that is their mind set.
I know this sounds like hate but it's the truth.

Just curious Op....if you live in Canada then why are you so concerned with what news the USA decides to broadcast? And does this thing NOT occur in Canada as well?
While many here are jumping on the racist band wagon I myself am more concerned with your "dig" on Americans when you aren't even American!!! Now I do agree with your statements about news coverage. Priorities are very messed up when it comes to what is reported. Its all about the money now rather than the news and as others have stated its all up to the advertisers now. But I have to ask you what news does Canada choose to share with us???? I can't recall the last time I have heard of what is going on inside of Canada. So while Americans may be broadcasting a lot of "trivial" stories rather than airing their dirty laundry for the world to see what is YOUR country doing? | |

OP, you say this isn't your intent and don't see any evidence as to why we should draw this conclusion? Well, for starters, how about your comparison with the treatment Britney Spears (white) is getting with Michael Vick and O.J. (black). You could have compared whites to white celebrities or the same with African-American celebrities, but you didn't. You "purposely" framed it between the races. Then you copy/paste an article that has race as its main focus? How can people NOT draw the conclusion?
How on earth do you believe Spears is getting more of a break than Vick or OJ? She's been in the news more in the past two years then "both" of them combined, and 99% of the press has been negative. There's even a death watch site where people bet on the date of her ultimate self-destruction? Doesn't sound like she's being coddled to me?
Next time "anyone" (white, African-American, purple, blue, polka-dot, whatever) creates threads like this, please be color-blind and point out the unfair discrepancies and outrages that cross "all" racial lines. | |

Yes I live in NC and yes we had a dumb ass lawyer that was out for votes on his handling of the Duke case but this case the police came and got her from the prison she was chained in...all i can say is this is a prime case for ....Cloroxing an entire family's gene pool... for the way those people behaved and treated another human being. | |

As long as "Black" leaders,.....like Jessie Jackson,..and Rev Al Sharpton, and people like Loius Farakan are setting bad examples,...and crying foul everytime they dont get their way,...and creating,...not helping,.... more racial discord,....we'll never get to the root of the matter.
Some one has to address this problem,...but our leaders dont want to touch it with a 10 foot pole,....because their afraid they will be labeled "Racist"
Untill "We The People" demand that attention is payed,......it isnt gonna happen.
Untill the news media picks it up,....and plays it on the news everyday,...like the Lottery,....no one will embrace it,...nourish it,..or fix it.

It was a heinous, insidious outrage, and the perpetrators should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I for one would gladly flip the switch for the electric chair for any of the scum involved. Unfortunately, we'll probably never completely stamp out racism in the world.
The facts and statistics remain that African-Americans are much more likely to be victims of crime from other blacks, not whites. Whites themselves are more likely to be victims of black crime than white crime.
Black on black violence is epidemic in predominantly black neighborhoods, and these figures aren't inflated by racists white cops or judges that disproportionately charge African-Americans at the expense of whites. The communities from where these crimes spring are made up of black citizens, not Hispanics or Caucasians.
And as awful as these figures are, they're probably grossly underreported, because there is a twisted code of silence and mindset in many inner city African-American communities that postulate turning in a fellow neighbor for a crime is somehow viewed as being a "rat" and going against their race. The fear, intimidation, and lawlessness in some of these communities is really breathtaking, and quite sad. Some black outrage should and is directed to this problem, but nowhere near enough.
Just my opinion, mind you, but I think "this" problem is more internal to the black community than the wider society as a whole, and there needs to be an honest, fair, but gut-wrenching self-analysis. All black leaders need to be responsible and show the courage to face this squarely and dispassionately, and stop throwing race persecution around in every case. | |

Based on the figures (bikerbiker53) quoted above, the majority of crime is committed by whites, not blacks - 636,000 whites in jail vs 528,000 blacks in jail. I think you meant that in comparison to the overall US population there is a disproportionate number of blacks in jail. However this data is from 1991. Of course this is just comparing black and white but the US has other racial minorities.......
If we were to compare crime levels of Asians and Whites in the US, Whites are no longer the nicely behaved race......... Looking at many different types of crime (violent, drug, guns, rapes, murder etc) Whites (on almost all types) commit significantly more than Asians (between 1993 and 1998). From the Bureau of Justice Stats. US - url at the end.
If one is to re-read some prior posts, but replace White with Asian, and Black with White, it offers an interesting experience.

What do you think that I hate blacks. I don't. I do not stereotype either. I'd date a black gal just as well as an Asian gal or whatever. There are two types of people in this world leaders and followers. Most blacks are followers. Some whites are followers. I do my best with other races. I am well liked. I did forget to mention that my grandfather not once but three times was beat up by blacks. The 3rd time he was drug down el steps and broke his hip for thirty dollars. He died from complications days later from lung fluids etc. I still don't hate the race. They need to know more about their history and where they came from..not just plain Africa..but where in Africa, the village the area what ever to establish the true roots. As far as I am concerned the history only goes back a few hundred years. DNA testing most likely would pin point the area and tribe. Tribes yes tribes..we are all from tribes.
Again, if you know not where you came from you will never know which way to go. | |

When Americans were "the land of the people who upheld other Americans' freedoms", it was a very nice place to live, because everyone helped everyone else out.

Were looking at 160 million people in the white population,
compaired to
20 million of black people totaling the US population
and compare the numbers , per 100,00 ,per race
at any given time there are,...
.........396 per 100,000 Whites incarcerated
......2,563 per 100,000 Blacks incarcerated
Look at the difference,..
and consider that blacks only account for 20 Million of the US population,....
And Whites account for 160 million people,...
The FACTS ARE STAGGERING !
Does someone have to hold a gun to your head,..or rape and murder you and your family,..for you,..and others like you, to to realize there is a horriable problem here.
A Problem, that far too many people care to think about,..let alone talk about it,
