Full Metal Alchemist is the answer to our angsty teen selves with enough cornball to enjoy a full bowl of corn pops (with milk).
If you haven't seen it yet, Samurai Champloo. Just do it.

Naruto is the classic ninja, i dont care for anythign about it except for the Jutsu and the awesome battles.
Bleach is cool just because of the mindless killing and swords. but the story is so repitive, "OMFG i HAVE to save Rukia OMFG"
Full Metal Alchemist.... meh. The alchemy aspect of it is cool all within itself but otherwise... Lame. | |

I love anime on the whole, but I don't love every anime. Confusing, yes? What I love most is the art styles used. They may all be somewhat different, but they are all linked to the animation of Japan. Even series made here in the US that try and copy those styles just don't cut it. It also has to do with the fact that you're not going to find "cartoons" like this in the US.
I think the interesting part of belonging to the fandom is simply belonging to the fandom. It's so nice to find a whole group of people that you can just talk about anything and everything anime and they will know exactly what you're talking about even if they themselves haven't seen a specific series you're talking about. It's just nice to have something in common with other people that is an uncommon interest. : ) | |

Though, for all you Death Note fans, Ryuk's infatuation with apples is almost as funny as Misa's die-hard infatuation with Light.

Posted: 4/14/2008 6:55:22 AM | Yay anime! Since you ask for corny, the corniest anime I liked is Azumanga Daioh. It's totally not the type of thing I normally go for, it's about four regular schoolgirls. They don't have magic powers, nothing supernatural attacks, nothing out of the ordinary at all happens really. For some reason though, I just really liked it.
Some other anime I like... Berzerk , though the first and last episode kinda don't fit the rest, but from what I've heard it fits in the manga version. Full Metal Alchemist, for those who mentioned not liking it, watch it at least through episode 6 before you decide that if you haven't already. Slayers rocks. Gunslinger Girls is excellent. Kino's Journey is odd but really good. Someone mentioned Golden Boy, I just saw that reciently, it was great. People have been mentioning Ranma 1/2 alot, it's really cheesy but entertaining, season one had the catchiest opening theme ever. Last but not least are some of the big movies, Princess Mononoke, Howel's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Metropolis, and Chinese Ghost Story. I didn't like Akira though, I guess that makes me some sort of heathen. I'm sure I'm forgeting some others I'd put on my favorites list too, oh well. | |

My Goddess was a little corny but I still love the original series, and going back a few years the last three that I'll add to the list are: Slayers, Blue Seed and Maho Tsukai Tai. For all out insanity I have to say Excel Saga, the last episode just goes OTT and in 25 minutes has more blood than a slaughterhouse, for no reason at all. Other faves although non corny. Bleach, Elfen Lied, Burst Angel (wait that ones corny as well) Stand Alone Complex. The remake of Bubblegum Crisis as well. | |
