Hey...FYI...some people have anal sex because....**gasp**...they ENJOY IT. It has nothing to do with "that time of the month" or....whatever "feeling uninvaded" means!? (WHAT does that mean?!)
CONDOMS are a no brainer....nothing to do with pooh, smells, or anything other than contracting HIV or other STD's. Sheesh people...do you all reallllly think that the anus stays jam packed with pooh all day?! LOL Your pooh is in your bowels...and you are not bowel fvcking someone! | |

You are baby safe ONLY.
If you are at a point in a relationship with a woman where you have discussed your histories, taken a test, are exclusive, and are comfortable entering the vaginal canal unwrapped, then feel free to let Willy roam free. If you wouldn't dip it in the front though you are no safer in the back.
Outside STD's there are some cleanliness issues. I am not talking about poo ALL OVER, I am talking about the possiblity that poo you cannot see may enter your penis and cause infection. Not icky to the eyes...nasty to the unit. Remember-disease is microscopic, what your eyes see mean nothing. If you do feel safe and exclusive with a woman, when unwrapped it is advisable to clean the area (enema).
As a rule of thumb any moist dark hole is not a good place to stick your penis, unless you plan to wear a condom. | |

In terms of pregnancy, the chance is extremely low (but not impossible!), STDs the chance is just as high as any other orifice, and you're more likely to get a UTI or other unpleasantness.
Same reason you don't transfer, yknow... anything... anally -> vaginally, the bacteria makes your other bits unhappy.

As far as getting an infection yourself, just wash and take a piss, and you will flush out most bacteria.
If you're doing it with a stranger, and you're trying to decide if it's more dangerous to go bareback in the front or the back, really it doesn't make enough of a difference to worry about--the risk is too high under any circumstance. Assuming your partner does have something, for you (the penetrator) it's not going to be as dangerous as for them (the penetratee). Due to microfissures forming in the anal cavity during penetration, it becomes easier to transfer infected body fluid to the person in question.
If you're doing it with a long-time, safe partner who doesn't sleep around on you (or you on them), follow the advice in the second sentence and you'll very rarely if ever have any negative effects. Just don't double dip (anus to vagina)...you may inadvertently pass a strain of e. coli. not native to the vagina into her urethra causing her to get a UTI (same thing if you don't take a piss right after anal sex, you might find yourself with a UTI).
