Astrology, interesting that so many of you have an opinion on it. Personally, I used to find it fascinating, and studied it for quite a time. I have blown so many people away by doing their charts for them, and of course, some believe, and some dont. A bit like religion tbh.
Most people don't understand it at all, even remotely, but DO want to know what it can do for them, if it can make them happy, what signs they are compatible with etc.
Life is not about being compatible, life is about being yourself, and pushing your own boundaries.
Imagine a journey, where one day you look back along that road where it just seemed like one tiring step after another, but you suddenly look back, and realise just how far you have travelled. That is what Astrology is about. It's about identifying who you are, and who you could become.
The stroppy Aries, the Arogant Leo, the tooooo sensitive cancer, the emotionally unavailable Pisces, the critical Virgo. etc etc Knowing the problem is the first part of the solution.
There's 12 parts to everyone, you just need to get friendly with them :) | |

Posted: 1/3/2009 3:17:21 PM | I know this is an older thread, but I didn't want to start a thread on something that's already been started.
I tend to believe more and more in it, the more I date. I find that I am very much a Taurus and that certain signs just don't mix well with me if I try to date them.
I even find myself (sometimes) rejecting certain guys who send me messages, based on their signs alone. (not all the time but sometimes) I know shallow and stupid probably, but I only tend to do it if I've just broken up with someone and not really that ready to start dating again just yet. Over time, I stop being silly and meet guys no matter what their sign is.
For example, as a Taurus, I have found that I even feel a physical "spark" with those who's signs are supposed to be better matches for the Taurus: Aries, Libra, Scorpio, Cancer, Virgo, and sometimes another Taurus.
When I've tried dating other signs that weren't supposedly a good astrology match, I've found I could enjoy their company, but felt no "deeper connection" with them. However, I'd also had "bad" relationships with supposedly good "sign matches" but the relationships were lacking other things.
However, it's been interesting to see, how much like our signs we are over time, and how much are dates fit their signs. Some might find astrology silly, but I find some of it fascinating. However, I also remind myself to take it with a grain of salt sometimes, because to judge a person based on their sign alone, is not allowing yourself to get to know the real person behind that sign. So while I take it more seriously then ever before, at the same time, I also take it less seriously then ever before. (if that makes sense)
This also applies to Chinese astrology. I check that out from time to time as well just for the fun of it to see which animal sign I supposedly match better.
All I can say is, while I do share a few personality traits with some of the other signs, like Libras, Scorpios, Capricorns, etc, I am very, very much a Taurus. | |

Posted: 1/3/2009 3:34:07 PM | Stars are balls of gasses dozens and hundreds of light-years from Earth. They can't affect people or determine your personality.
It scares me to think more people believe in astrology than accept evolution. We're becoming a scientifically illiterate society at a time when our lead in science and engineering is being eroded by China and India.
Those of you who believe in astrology: would you submit to a rigorous, scientific analysis of it? And if it were proven that there was nothing to it (which it would) would you be willing to admit it? | |

Big time works (for the most part).
But at times throw you a curve ball-(especially with people that are not "normal").
Even as adept as I am in it-and and much as I'd like to tell you to always trust it...Don't always.
There are intangibles that cannot be analyzed-when meeting up with abnormal folks.
You'll know who-when you meet them.

Everybody except Scorpios. They always end up stabbing me in the back: I don't like it.
All the Capricorns I have met share the same characteristics; I always ask them for advice: they seem to be rational and logical most of the time but they do have troubles with emotions. I find Taurus very stable individuals.
I tend to look for earth signs, being myself fire. Water signs tend to put me down. Air sign? Too dangerous. Fire signs? No balance.
Obviously karmic influences may affect a personality more than Moon and Sun, therefore astrology can be inaccurate. Overall, it has always given me good hints.
In my experience Scorpios are dangerous, especially for a direct and genuine Aries. I refuse to work with Scorpios. All the Scorpios in my life have created a high level of conflict. I never really understood why, but I can't trust them.

Posted: 8/9/2009 5:53:35 PM | As a rule of thumb, if there is two or four months difference in your birth dates, that is a good sign (sextile or trine) but three or six months is bad (square or opposition). Same month (conjunction) is hit or miss. Five months (quincunx) is unpredictable as well.
The problem is that the Sun sign (that everyone mentions) is less important than the Moon, Venus and Mars sign which do not fall into a readily predictable pattern for each calendar month.
Signs of the same element are in trine (4 months difference) and tend to get along.
There are also three modes: Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable. These correspond roughly to initiating change, resisting change, and change itself. It's sort of a cosmic game of Rock (fixed), Paper (mutable), Scissors (cardinal).
As for scientific research, no one is willing to fund it except astrologers themselves, and critics pooh-pooh the results. I believe there has been a break from traditional astrology to a more scientific approach. The research that has been conducted yields data correlating personality traits with astrological positions, but the results are at odds with traditional astrological interpretations. | |

In my personal experience, I think astrology can be taken seriously. I'm a Virgo, and I've had horrible luck with my polar opposite, Pisces. I know I'm gonna piss some people off, but I'll go ahead and say my piece. Every single Pisces I dated was just downright screwy. I also dated a few Libras, and we are so not compatible. Generally, when your signs are right next to each other, you're doomed with the exception of Capricorn and Aquarius.
I have a book that will give you all the information to do a natal chart.

Posted: 8/23/2009 7:58:12 PM | I am a double fire sign. I am a Leo, and have Leo in my sun and moon. I also have Sag raising. Triple fire.. very, very fixed. The good thing about Sag raising is it gives you a great aspect for personality.
I have most signs in my chart, anyway. .. including Virgo.
I'm a Virgo, and I've had horrible luck with my polar opposite, Pisces.
My dad was a Pisces and we butted heads--but we were the same. We had the same temperament , goals, views.. but it came out in different areas but were identical. My mother was a sag and that is where I get my sag raising. I am so much like her-- but I am the splitting image of my dad, but in another way. Stubborn, very dedicated with a good sense of humor--almost like a Taurus. I also have scorpio in one my houses and can get along with scorpio's, but that also gives me the ability to get a long with taurus and that is my opposite sign.
So, don't get it in your head that you cannot get along with all Pisces, because no one is a one hundred percent a true sign. | |

Anyway, after having freinds and family take Jungs personality test a year ago, I then compared to descriptions from it and compared them to descriptions from astrological charts . I wasvery surprsied at the results as I had been sceptical to say the least previously. The descriptions were very close to each other.
I do take a lot of what astrologers say though with a grain of salt, espcially regarding compatability. I suspect, many focus too much soley on the sun sign to the exclusion of other influences.
For example, I a Cancer am supose to be quitecompatable with Taurus and incompatable with Aries. Yet, the exact oppositehas been true in my case. I have found Taraus stiffling , clingy, where the 2 most intense relationships I have had were with Aries. I suspect maybe the other influenes out side of the sun sign, might account for that? If that makes sense?
Rising Sign is in 21 Degrees Cancer
Sun is in 10 Degrees Cancer
Moon is in 04 Degrees Leo.
Mercury is in 15 Degrees Cancer.. Venus is in 17 Degrees Leo.
Mars is in 00 Degrees Capricorn. | |

Posted: 8/31/2009 9:18:25 AM | I believe in checking into the astrological side of things also but it goes much deeper than just signs. Everything I have learned has not only shown me the reasons why my ex and I had such a shtty relationship but also why my soul mate gf had to leave.
People make fun of this topic but if you will study yourself and how you interacted with others in your past, you will become a believer too.
It is amazing how accurate things can be. And given there are three to five major zodiacs developed without influence from each other and throughout hundreds of yours of process, for them to all find the same conclusions is remarkable. | |

But, I make my own fate and would never run my life by my a horoscope. Generally, I've found that I click best sexually with Scorpio and Taurus men for whatever reason. Relationships best with Taurus men. Haven't really noticed much beyond that. I don't seem to click well in relationships with Aquarius or Pisces men..but good with friends as such. I just found out this year that there is so much more to it than just your 'sign'...interesting stuff. I think there are so many things in this world that we can't necessarily explain..so I don't have any problem having an open mind and learning about this stuff. I just don't get led blindly on anything =) | |
