No smoking in car with minors

>>>Your car is your car but your child's heart and lungs are theirs. Your children are separate people, not property.

Then it sounds like your time would be better spent arguing that smoking around children is child abuse, rather than smoking around them in this single instance is abuse.

>>>The thread is about no smoking in car with children. So if the kids arn't in the car, then there is no problem no?

I think we've gotten confused by the context of what I said- I said that laws were being made assaulting against peoples property rights- you in turn claimed you believed I was talking about children as property- I corrected you and stated that I was talking about the car- so my claim of attacking property rights is still valid.

Your complaint is valid, as long as there is no kids in the car.

It would be if by having children you lose all property rights- despite what you believe, parents have just as much property rights as the rest of us.

Your rights don't magically disappear once you transport a minor.

That's true, but guess what, some rights trump property rights. For instance you can't run a factory in an unsafe manner, you can't have a grow op in your back yard, and you can't smoke around your kids.

Children don't just magically lose their rights because they're in your car.

Oh my goodness. I guess ( if you have children) that you come before them. That you are more important then they are. That you might send them to school with out shoes, or lunches. I think you are missing the point. It is your childrens life that we are talking about. And of course there will be people that "can prove that it is okay to kill your children"
Have you ever noticed a room that you smoke in, how yellow it is. Well just think about that in your childrens lungs.
I enjoy smoking, but when my grand daughter was born I promised my self I would not smoke around her. I wanted to give her a chance of a clean life. She was more important that my addiction. And that is what smoking is. An addiction. I stopped smoking for my grand daughter. Because she is more important to me than any thing in the world.
These are just a non-smokers thoughts. And you just keep on thinking only about your self, thats okay.

So...I have read enough of these posts....here is the deal from my perspective ...as a smoker....I see no need in justifying a bad habit that I DO NOT want my child to pursue...we dont need justification....we made a bad choice....I hate the habit that I OWN!...it isnt hers and never will be....and I encourage my child to make better choices than I have...they have a right to make those choices and I will enable her to do so withing my best abilities....knowing that I made the WRONG ones!....
I think there is nothing better than how our children are being taught that these arent good choices....and I both encourage it and empower the people who are teaching it!!!
We made our mistakes....our kids have the right to make better decisions than us IF WE TEACH THEM SO!
