| neighbors from hell Posted: 10/13/2007 12:55:23 PM | Most cops are corrupt and power hungry? - um - how the hell does that associate with this thread? RU saying that cop deserved to die? Tell that to his little daughter and his wife. Lets end that conversation here - you want to start a thread about how you hate cops - go start one.
Thats another scary point - you dont' know who has loaded guns next door. Some idiot 3 years ago in an apartment next to us - shot of a rifle off the balcony the cops came, but the couldn't find out which apartment it came from. I guess no neighbours of his wanted to say anything - because they were scared too...
Well the landlord came and talked to me - the told the neighbour to clean up the mess in front of my door - its still there today. I am just going to let her dig her own grave. And you have a point - with the way the housing/apartment shortage is - shouldn't be too hard to fill her empty apartment when she goes psycho again. Its her stoned 20 year old kids that dont work that I am worried about (and I aint talking pot)

Hang in there though ... there is hope! Just a few days ago, my condo neighbour from upstairs came down and knocked on my door. I was somewhat shocked to see him, so he proceeded to explain that he was planning a little party for later that evening (this was a Friday night) and things might get a little noisy. He even invited me to join!
His notification was both courteous and politically correct (should I have joined in the fun and added to the noise, I would have had nothing to complain about).
I wholly agree with you fishy. But when your neighbour is a drunk and tries to make every weekend a party weekend this gets a little tiring and annoying. I live next door to a guy pushing 50 and does exactly that. He's an alcoholic and all of his friends too. It's quite sad watching them go at it like they are highschool wannabes. He has invited me over to join in but I really have no interest in his lifestyle.

I have lived in a lot of places and I have found that it doesn't matter where you live - there's always some jackass that ruins it for everyone else. I've got a zillion stories on this one but this is Queen's thread.

| neighbors from hell Posted: 10/13/2007 4:46:31 PM | For sure, just let her dig her own grave as you say. Don't harass her back, only report what she does to the landlord. Eventually the landlord will get sick of it, and get her out of there...
I'm surprised tenants are not better behaved considering the rental situation. I'm not about to do something stupid either, there is months long waiting lists for apartments where I live. Lucky enough to have a nice place with very reasonable rent and I can have a pet. Not many places like that anymore.

| neighbors from hell Posted: 10/13/2007 5:00:17 PM | hydro guy please share lol...
I agree sum - there are not many places like that anymore. Thats why I moved into this place 6 years ago - the rent wasn't bad (although they hiked it up last year - and more than likely will hit me again in may 08), and they allow pets (but the people have to be responsible pet owners, no doggie do do on the property, no animals running in the hallways or barking all night, etc). Too bad people didn't have that kind of control over their kids lol.
Yah the best thing is to let them screw up again, report it - if it gets bad get the police involved - and they can be looking for a new place to put new people through hell, but next time, their neighbours might be worse than them - and they might end up beside someone more psycho and annoying than they are! Oh - only if Karma works out! :)
Oh I had to add this - one of my email friends on here said too bad she didn't throw eggs and chocolate, etc so I could bake myself my bday cake this weekend - excuse me while I change my shorts lol...

| neighbors from hell Posted: 10/13/2007 5:20:06 PM | I consider myself lucky after reading all of this. I have great neighbours. Always helpful....the couple on one side are always quiet and I never know if they are home much or not.......the other side.....they are happily married with two cute little girls....and they are both quite nice and helps out if I need anything.
Mind you .....I had some kids ( an assumption ) that sprayed my garage with some blue paint which I have to wash off. Most recently I had some guy or gal running around with navy blue paint that shook his brush on my veranda after it was freshly stained.......strange and unexpected as I have never has that happen before. I also live in a quiet neighbourhood and a crescent. Go figure eh....well, I contributed it to some late night drunk that has nothing better to do and probably watched my kids andtheir friends painting and thought he'd/ she'd contribute a little art work. All in all not bad for neighbourhood crisises.

| neighbors from hell Posted: 10/13/2007 8:04:10 PM | Well, I don't worry about kids making noise, this apartment is adults only. Sure kids can visit of course. I've been here for 2 years now, have had one $50 rent hike this last Jan, and it will be going up $50 next year in Feb. That's it. I'd say that's pretty damn fair.
Been lucky with tenants as well, all have been quiet, the manager screens them pretty good now plenty of applications to choose from so they can be picky.

| neighbors from hell Posted: 10/14/2007 12:10:03 PM | I have to say, I am blessed, as I have really good neighbours now.
However, when I lived in a basement suite in NW Calgary, I had a lady who was horrible. She screwed her bf every night, her bedroom was right over top of my daughter's (who was 3 at the time), who used to mimic the noises, until I told her to stop. One day we came home, and she was screwing her bf on the living room couch, with the front door and blinds wide open. We got home while all this was taking place, and my daughter was curious and wanted to know what was going on. I wanted to grab her and run in the opposite direction. Also, she had control over the thermostat, so when she was home, it would become a sauna in the basement, but when she wasn't, I would literally have to study with a huge comforter over my head and warm my nose up every now and again. I lived there for one year, when the next winter came around, I refused to pay half of the heating bill without having access to the thermostat, so she got me kicked out of the house with only 10 days notice.
Neighbour from hell, I think so..... Thank goodness I believe in Karma. Haha

| neighbors from hell Posted: 11/17/2007 3:10:02 PM | | opinions....there once was a happen a time when a couple rented this apartment.....major smoked pot until the manager addressed that issue....the head banging music continued.....until early this month.....silence.....until flashing lights outside,,,,made me wonder,,,,ok....the guy driving the car was handcuffed and taken a way by the 2 police units and the guy in the passenger seat unloaded the stuff in the car to the apartment and then drove off......what would you make of it and what would yu do with the information? | |

| neighbors from hell Posted: 11/18/2007 10:24:11 AM | I have an extended patio...............likely ten feet further out than the rest of the apartments above me.
It has become a receptacle for rubbish including the following:
Beer bottles; Glasses; An indoor-outdoor carpet; Jeans avec undies (?); Half eaten pizza; Pizza box (sans bill otherwise I would have collared the perp); Dog food; Cigarette butts (too many to calculate).
The fellow beside me must really smoke a lot and have COPD because when he coughs, you can feel the building move.
It is really rather comical, if you let it be. Otherwise, one could get rather biatchy about it.
I have to decide, by summer if I am staying here or moving to the Southside. If I am staying, the patio furniture I purchase will be the cheap stuff...............we all know it will get ruined.

At least you haven't found condoms or drug needles. Then you may have, but didn't want to disclose that.

| neighbors from hell Posted: 11/29/2007 6:01:25 PM | My neighbors aren't from hell... they're from Jamaica!!
Usually they are very good, but occasionally the smell of pot and loud reggae is overwhelming. They have improved since I let them know that my kids go to bed before 9 and their bedroom shares a wall with their subwoofer.

| neighbors from hell Posted: 12/2/2007 12:46:55 AM | My neighbours got into a screaming match in the street the day I moved in. I was wondering why the girl was glaring at me, but my landlord told me it was because they had just got booted out of the place I was moving into (they moved across the lawn to a 4plex owned by someone else).
Called the cops several times because of them fighting (I thought he was going to run her over with the truck one day). Landlord had their truck towed because they were in my parking spot, they told the cops I had given them permission to. Their truck (now in an impound lot because it was not safe) had no muffler and was in and out of their spot about every 20 mins starting at 8 am. This was all during the summer. I actually got to watch a cop shove them into the back of the car. Their crazy friends have knocked on my door several times asking to borrow things from me, I tell them to go away. My roommate and I keep the door locked at all times because we don't trust them.
Now. There is washing machine outside their door. A shopping cart filled with garbage bags. Broken furniture and toys. And even with all my windows and doors shut, I can still hear them screaming at each other in their house!
