| Left or right handed or both?
Posted: 4/9/2008 6:21:21 PM | There's a great saying, "Lefties are the only ones in our right mind". I am a south paw  (love this icon because it too is a south paw)  (as is this one)
I am able to write with my right hand but this has come to be not naturally, but more of a bar trick. In school I was never struck for writing with the wrong hand, other reasons though. Unless you are a lefty, you don't realize how many things are designed for righties, but we're so used to it we don't even notice and adapt with ease. However, what we do notice are other lefties in a room. | |

I favor my right hand for many things, but I can only write with my left hand. My dad is severely left handed. He might as well not even have a right hand.

Posted: 7/18/2009 5:12:47 PM | I'm predominantly left-handed... although I *can* use tools with my right hand, I tend to just flip them over and use them backwards.
My Dad *would* have been left-handed... but was part of that era where it was actively discouraged.
I'm also left-foot-dominant, as well as left-eye-dominant. | |

I am left handed. I just do everything a little opposite than right handers. My son started using his left hand, but his dad broke him of that.
What I don't get is what is the difference? Stupid stereotypes. No left handed males are not always gay. My Dad was also left handed, a very wiry, yet masculine man who did not like gays let alone crossdressers. I am nowhere near lesbian either.
I live life like anyone else. So I am different, maybe cause I want to be different. | |

Have a niece that is a Lefty. Took us a while to get her a mitt for T-ball since we lived in a small town in the early 70s. She would throw the ball and it would land at her feet. For some reason someone got her to try her other hand and she threw pretty good . So now she is a Lefty in writing but in spots she is a righty..softball, bowling, tennis and etc. | |

We, truth be told, like Robbin Williams, Steve Martin, Richard Pryor, Carol Burnett, Prez Obama, Sen McCain, Sen Kerry, Prez Bill Clinton, Prez Ford, Prez Bush jr, Sen Al Gore, etc are an alien species!
Piss us off and we will take over the world! 
Of course I had huge difficulties growing up lefty in a stale, humorless right handed world. First off all, there were few left-handed desks, scissors, etc so I learned to adapt. While working in construction -all 100% of powertools are made for right-handed peeps! It's easy to get hurt and left-handed people get hurt more around power
tools that right-handed people.
Then I've had to deal with humorless people my whole life. God forbid you make a joke to a right-handed person...it's like "call the guards, he *gulp* made a joke. He must be a witch, I mean left-handed person..."
Yo right-handed people need to lighten up. Right-handed men need to smell the roses (and women!) more often. Foreplay is good for ya...treat women nicer cause then they blame ALL MEN as being insensitive. :D Yes this is a fun rant...left-handed men are better in bed because we tend to be more sensitive....
Ask any woman who has ever had a left-handed boyfriend...

in my family, it was not suppressed if you were a lefty, BUT my parents were always the progressive type.
NOW i di know, i am left/right brained, but that's another issue | |

Posted: 7/19/2009 2:33:44 PM | I am both handed but I use my left mainly for writing although I can write with my right slow. My right hand has more strength and I use it for all things that require strength.
I went to military school and yes they did strongly encourage you to write with your right hand but I never got slapped for that. I did get spanked with a ping pong paddle and got an eraser thrown at me for talking though. | |
