| Who admits to using drugs? Posted: 10/16/2007 9:05:58 PM | Actually, the bad spelling thing is right on the money. I happened to be reading the police reports from the cops who tasered that kid at UF - and they were incredibly poorly written. You would think, considering they probably knew they would be plastered all over the internet, they might have taken a minute to look some words up. | |

I use a very localized growth hormone...
Hhuumm maybe there should be another option for that.
|
| Who admits to using drugs? Posted: 10/16/2007 9:17:23 PM | I have read profiles that started they didn't do drugs and in their write up mentioned being 420 friendly. So does that mean that they don't smoke it themselves, but don't care if you do... or are they stoners?? | |

I can stop anytime I want to... just... not... today.

| Who admits to using drugs? Posted: 7/21/2008 12:55:09 PM | look on craigs list for people searching for housing in santa cruz. nobody wants to live here as i am NOT 420 friendly. seems no one minds saying they are into drugs, when seeking boarders or rooms to rent. no wonder i cannot find a clean and sober handyman! my kids told me, but i thought they were exaggerating.
i would think that if the police wanted to find drugs in this area, they would start their research right there. probably too stoned themselves!

Who needs cocaine when espresso is a tenth of the price and legal? If I could count up to 1 cup while wired I'd still be drinking it.
There's a reason why Starbuck's is a major dealer --er-- corporation.
I'd lay odds that half the cases of road rage out there can be traced back to too much coffee.

| Who admits to using drugs? Posted: 7/21/2008 3:01:04 PM | What an interesting post. I'd be willing to be that the majority of people who reply to the question with "would rather not say" or whatever the other options that are provided, are talking about marijuana. I find it hard to believe there are meth heads on here admitting to using. Marijuana seems to get a bad rap. A lot of people like to critisize others for using it, but in the meantime they are smoking cigarettes and drinking 3+ times a week. Marijuana has proven medical advantages. Personally, I dont have a problem with someone smoking occasionally, but if you name your paraphenalia or are stoned 16 hours out of the day, you might have a problem lol. | |
|
| Who admits to using drugs? Posted: 7/21/2008 4:27:19 PM | | Interesting point... marijuana is legal under certain circumstances for medical use. If someone is using marijuana legally, what is the correct answer to the "do you use drugs" question? Does the question refer to "illegal" drugs? If so, illegal WHERE? Is someone on Prozac or Celexa required to answer "yes" to this question? There are some very powerful legal drugs today. How much does a date get to know about this sort of thing? Maybe the question is silly in this day and age... and this is something that should be part of the initial private discussions before dating. I agree, very few people would answer the question in the positive anyway. | |

The meth heads have probably sold their computers to by more meth anyway.
Marijuana seems to get a bad rap.
All you need to form a bad opinioni of pot is to know a doper or two and watch them never getting anything done.
|
| Who admits to using drugs? Posted: 7/21/2008 6:57:25 PM | | Gotta agree with Pete73052 on this one. The question is so ambiguous that it requires a "would rather not say" for the answer to be honest. There is a common assumption that it implies using illegal drugs, but that is certainly not what it states. The question seems to be for those people who are looking for a person who doesn't use any drugs. legal or otherwise, something akin to those people who think it is not right to go to a doctor to get healed when faith is all one needs. | |

C'mon now. That's a huge generalization. Some very intelligent people are admitted marijuana users. Some of the greatest musicians of all time used marijuana. Sure, there are definitely people who smoke pot all day sitting on the couch playing Playstation, but to say that ALL people who use it are lazy or unproductive is'nt true.

C'mon now. That's a huge generalization.
No, it's observation and I'm not the only one that has noticed.
Some very intelligent people are admitted marijuana users.
I don't see the relevance.
Some of the greatest musicians of all time used marijuana.
Just one of the reasons moms tell their daughters not to date musicians.
but to say that ALL people who use it are lazy or unproductive is'nt true.
That's why I did not say that.

Dude, not getting anything done is doing something... you know... it's doing nothing - and sometimes that's better than the alternative... which is... wait, I forgot what I was saying...

That's why I did not say that.
But you did imply it.
Still, generalizations doesn't have to apply to every individual to be useful. The problem is when people use them to prevent others from getting a fair shake--especially when the generalizations aren't tied to relevant behavior.
Avoiding someone who merely White is stupid and wrong. Avoiding someone who's flashing gang signs is smart.
And sure, there are some exceptional and brilliant people who use drugs. UNIX BSD could well be the product of an "elevated" thought process. New drugs lead to new ideas. Has there been anything really new in the way of musical genres since the '70s (that weren't inspired by crack)?
Let me ask you this: Do you personally prefer music from the alcohol culture or the psychedelic counter-culture? Can you say polka?
I knew some brilliant people back in the day who used 420 to visualize solutions to differential equations, among other things. So it really just depends. Me? I can't handle any of that stuff and I know it. I can't even manage myself on caffiene. But I think there's a difference between a person who uses drugs to enhance her or his capacity and a person who uses them to escape. YMMV.

Dude, not getting anything done is doing something... you know... it's doing nothing - and sometimes that's better than the alternative... which is... wait, I forgot what I was saying... ...you were reminding me that I DID do something yesterday after all! Thanks!
OT: I agree that the drug question should be taken off and replaced with a more interesting question like, "What is one thing you don't like about yourself?" That would eliminate the number of people who appear PERFECT per their profile.

No, I did not imply it at all. How can "a doper or two" turn into an implication of ALL?
UNIX BSD could well be the product of an "elevated" thought process.
Probably not. Programming and pot just don't go well together.

| Who admits to using drugs? Posted: 7/22/2008 3:40:35 PM | Certain things are impossible to get done UNLESS one is stoned... anything from cleaning the stove or refrigerator, to organizing the garage. OK, sometimes it takes a little re-organizing the next day... but still... sometimes pot is the motivator and not verse-visa... | |
