| Pets in Bed Posted: 4/12/2008 11:53:07 PM | "My cats sleep with me every night. They would just scratch the door all night to get in if I didn't. If you love me, than you would have to love my cats"
I grew up with two siamese cats and a little half poodle/half pomeranian. Every night Puss, the female siamese would crawl under the covers and go to the bottom of the bed to wrap herself around my feet. Sam, the male would snuggle under the covers between my right arm and my body with just the tip of his nose sticking out from under the covers. Chopper, the dog, would lay on top of my belly and snore away all night. This is how we slept every night all through my school years.

| Pets in Bed Posted: 4/13/2008 5:47:45 AM | | my cats are allowed to sleep in my bed.. well actually they are allowed to sleep where ever they please... actually my oldest "boy" used to get annoyed when the ex would be sleeping over... and when we moved in together.. the "boy" would actually sleep and walk over his pillow all day long so the ex would sneeze all night (he had allergies).. did the cat know something i didnt!!!! I now have a dog (rotty x).. and she doesnt sleep in my bed.. but sometimes she will jump up for a cuddle..and i think i would still encourage it.. i think if i met someone they would have to take me with my quirkiness.. and well if they didnt like animals then they wouldnt be the person for me!!! | |

| Pets in Bed Posted: 4/13/2008 5:50:47 AM | | well if you don't like my sweet small sized pups in the bed with us then you can feel free to leave and don't let the door hit you in the butt when you go!!!!! they stay and its not negotible | |

| Pets in Bed Posted: 4/13/2008 10:02:47 AM | Reading this thread, I get why people go so long without serious relationships. It seems many people don't value humans as much as they value animals. I'm all for seeing the beauty in all species, but I think you've got to hold a special place in your life for other people, particularly a SO.
Hygiene note: Anyone who doesn't bathe every day does not belong in the bed, particularly if they also walk around barefoot outside. This applies equally to all species.

I WONT EVEN GO OUT WITH A LADY THAT HAS A PET, OH MAYBE ABIRD OF WHICH I CANT SEE. RAY
I hate to tell you, Ray, but you won't be having many dates if you stick to that requirement. I have been out with about 25 different women in the past year or so, and at least 90% had a cat or dog in the house. Most let the pet sleep with them, too. I have had several "threesomes" with pets. Not usually a problem.

| Pets in Bed Posted: 4/13/2008 10:27:20 AM | Pets in bed while sleeping - OK with me if it's OK with her...
Pets in bed while "other things" are going on...?
Nope. Pets are in the living room for that... :D

| Pets in Bed Posted: 4/13/2008 10:32:52 AM | | My pets are not allowed on the furniture, they dont jump on people, they sit ,stay, are not encouraged to beg and are probably more well behaved than certain peoples kids are. They are however encouraged to protect the home,be nice to other dogs, some people and go play in the woods, lake or park.If someone doesnt accept the fact that my pets a part of my world , sorry to hear that, as far as I am concerned, that is their choice but they enhance and bring great joy to my life. | |

| Pets in Bed Posted: 4/13/2008 10:35:54 AM | It seems many people don't value humans as much as they value animals. I'm all for seeing the beauty in all species, but I think you've got to hold a special place in your life for other people, particularly a SO. And what does having a close relationship with a pet have anything to do with that??? Just because someone values their pet highly does not mean they would value a person less. It's not like we have a limited amount of space in our lives and hearts, anymore than someone with children would. I've generally found spending so much time and effort with my dogs is a benefit when it comes to dating, as the vast majority of people *like* animals and really appreciate ones that are clean, well-behaved, friendly, etc. And I've never yet had someone feel like I value them less than my dogs. There definitely are some people that take things to the extreme....dress their pets up, have parties for them, take them everywhere they go, etc. That is a different issue altogether, and indeed not a healthy relationship. But that's hardly what we are talking about here. | |

{irony}Which is why so many of those darned animals in nature have those baths and showers that they use every day... Yet I just wish that they would realize that the single most precious, and threatened, natural resource we have on Planet Earth these days is: fresh water.
Yep, not oil, not air - just plain good old water.
So be sure to clog yours up daily (if not multiple times daily) with surfactants and oils and such that come from your shampoo and soaps, make sure that goes down the drain where you don't have to see it being flushed into our reservoirs, waterways, lakes, and seas. Someday soon, perhaps all those disgusting, despicable, and dirty third-world people will have baths and showers every day before sleeping, and we can have used it *all* up!
It is a good thing too that for the several thousands of years or more of our history as a species, homo sapiens learned to sleep standing up, since it is so absolutely horrible that a speck of dirt should hit a bedsheet...{/irony}

| Pets in Bed Posted: 4/13/2008 11:06:59 AM | | I am huge dog lover but the fur bag never is allowed in my bed. | |

| Pets in Bed Posted: 4/13/2008 11:30:21 AM | | I have a 100 lb Syberian Huskey mix that I LUV so very much and 2 long haired cats and 1 short haired cat They are not even alowed to stand at the doorway of my room ... lol ... I luv them and I pet them and paly with them but NO WAY are they allowed in my bedroom ... When I ws young I had several pets and this one cat that I would sleep with every night .. she would seriously put her hands on each side of me like a child .... I miss her to this day .... but I dont think I would want to have the hair in my room now ... | |

| Pets in Bed Posted: 4/13/2008 11:32:40 AM | | I am afraid any SO would have to put up with my dog. I even have a line in my profile that asks 'dog on couch or dog on bed'. Although like someone else said when we were having nookie she would have to get on floor. | |
|
| Pets in Bed Posted: 4/13/2008 11:34:49 AM | O' yeal ... I think if you are with in bed with someone that you don't wanna do anything with , then put a pet or a kid or a pizza in between ya .... what ever it takes ... | |
|
| Pets in Bed Posted: 4/13/2008 5:01:42 PM | | My teacup chihuahua Baxter sleeps with me every night. And yes, he's a 2 lb. bed hog. I would put him out of the room during times of intimacy but as for as sleeping goes, he's curls up behind my legs so I doubt he'd get in the way of my partner. It's not a matter of chosing my pet over a man....it's simply Baxter has been with me longer. | |
|
| Pets in Bed Posted: 4/13/2008 5:13:58 PM | | Holy cow there are some strong opinions on this subject. Here's my deal, my dog sleeps with my every night. If someone was over and there was some action going on then no way am I going to have my dog in the bed with me. But if we were just sleeping then he is welcome. I wouldn't want to date someone that doesn't like dogs anyway, I think it shows bad personality traits. I want a dog lover just like me. And it has nothing to do with how I value relationships with humans as opposed to animals. Everybody wants someone who has similar interests. I will always have a dog, eventually when I get a house, I want to have more than one. So if you don't love dogs then don't bother, and I have that right in my profile. | |

| Pets in Bed Posted: 4/13/2008 5:23:57 PM | Well, I can't say as I MIND it. But they are not allowed, unless one of them is sick and needs me to hold their paw, then I acquiesce. One weighs 82 lbs and one weighs 60 lbs, where am I gonna sleep if I allow this? They sleep in the room......but I'd have to put them out on intimate occassions (should that ever happen again. LOL) they are a herding breed and like to stare, I couldn't have that. LOL | |
|
| Pets in Bed Posted: 4/13/2008 5:29:02 PM | I have pet orchids, they sleep on the windowsills. I have stuffed animals in the bed, they get tossed on the floor, no complaints. | |
|
| Pets in Bed Posted: 4/13/2008 5:34:50 PM | An unexpected cold wet nose where a cold wet nose should never be. No more pets in the bed. Bestiality is not my thing. | |
|
| Pets in Bed Posted: 4/13/2008 6:09:33 PM | No animal needs to be in the room while your doing th deed. My cat is my baby...would you have sex in the same bed your baby was sleeping in? I wouldn't.
Just sleeping, no I wouldn't object, other than cats tend to move a lot and make noise and keep me awake.

Pets smell no matter how much you bathe them This is rich, coming from a smoker...

Haha...touche
For the record, I don't *really* eat babies...hell I can't stand the sniffling, dirty little things. Thats not true either, I think all babies have an innocence about them that makes me look past the superficial yuck that is being infant.
For instance, if you barfed on yourself while watching a movie, I would seriously question your cognitive capacity. Whereas a baby, I would likely just hold my breath, take a cloth and clean them off as quickly as possible.

| Pets in Bed Posted: 4/13/2008 6:33:25 PM | I have two big dogs (a lab and a black golden retriever). The GR is usually content to sleep on the floor (he usually sleeps on the cool bathroom tile) but the lab? Sometimes she'll allow me to sleep on "HER" bed.
This is no lie: I'll get up to use the bathroom and come back and she's laying in my spot, with the covers pulled up to her shoulders (something she learned how to do when she was a puppy) and her head on the pillow. Then she'll look at me like, "But I thought you were getting up!"
