| Pets in Bed Posted: 10/16/2007 7:36:45 PM | My 60lb hound stretches out at the foot of the bed for about 10 minutes then hits the floor and sleeps there for the night. Sometimes jumps back up in the morning to wake me up. Don't want her there throughout the night because she wakes me up (and vice-versa).
I wouldn't expect any man to put up with a large dog in or on the bed while we were in it as well.

| Pets in Bed Posted: 10/16/2007 7:53:42 PM | | I have two cats, and especially one of them loves to sleep with me in bed. He usually sleeps at the other end of bed. I know it is his habit, and some mornings I find him next to me, it is just how he is. I believe that it is a package deal I come with my two cats into a relationship. My cats are extension of me. I know I won't even get attracted to a man who does not accept me with my cats, this is a deal, love it or hate it. We will just have to get a king size bed, so there is room for everyone. I don't know what grosses people out about cats being on beds, they are the cleanest animals of all, they constantly leek themselves, I bet anything their bums are cleaner than many of our own mouths filled with bacteria. Cats don't like to be around anything that's dirty. I sometimes laugh, when I give them kisses and they "think" oh, now I have to clean myself again. One of my cats would come in the morning to bite me in my cheek and nose, these are his kisses, I adore him. Oh, ok... sorry, I am just to much in love with them, so you asked about the pets in bed. No problem for me. | |

| Pets in Bed Posted: 10/16/2007 8:12:33 PM | I don't see the problem with my cat sharing the bed,as long as I am sleeping. But I think it's creepy when people will get intimate with a pet in the bedroom. | |

| Pets in Bed Posted: 10/16/2007 9:11:49 PM | My cats sleep in the basement. In fact, we close them down there at night. Not by choice really, they're all litter trained but for some reason, at night they'll poop all over if left upstairs. The basement is furnished and fully heated, with all kinds of nice chairs/couches/piles of laundry for them to sleep in, lol. Their water/food/litter are all down there anyway. They don't seem to mind.
The dog, she sleeps wherever. Sometimes on a couch, sometimes in a chair, sometimes in her cage (its a big cage and the only thing we use it for are for time outs (no more than an hour) when she's bad) which we leave open and she chooses to sleep in sometimes. (hey, she has her room, we have ours, lol) Sometimes in a bed, none of us mind, if there's a night we don't want her in there, the door stays closed. Someones door is always open.

| Pets in Bed Posted: 10/16/2007 11:27:30 PM | | My cat sleeps on the bed alot, sometimes right next to my pillow, or other times by my feet like a dog would. Sometimes she will choose a different spot, cats are great for not always sleeping in the same spaces. Just a couple hours ago she was sleeping in the cabinet under my bathroom sink. Other times she will lay in the bedroom closet. She rarely interferes with my sleep. Only a few times have I had to put her off the bed, and then she just goes to sleep under the bed. | |

| Pets in Bed Posted: 10/17/2007 3:20:35 AM | "My old dog slept in my bed. Sharing a twin sized mattress with a boxer wasn't easy at all. It was worth it though. I miss that dog"
This post brought back so many fond memories, growing up I shared my bed with our Boxer/Mastiff mix, his name was Mashugana - Shuggy for short"
It's been over ten years since he passed on and I still miss the old guy.

| Pets in Bed Posted: 10/17/2007 3:58:49 AM | My almost 19 year old cat Makita is queen of the bed and pretty much lives there just getting off for food and litterbox. (19 is very old for a cat) She's lived with me and shared my bed longer than any woman. I sure wouldnt try to change things now for anybody. One of the younger cats occasionally gets up on bed too, but usually Makita exerts her territorial rights and chases it off.
Anyways, for me its love me, love my pets. I'm sure not the guy for you if you are allergic to cats or find a cat in bed disgusting.

| Pets in Bed Posted: 10/17/2007 6:43:22 AM | | It would not work to let my pet sleep with me and another person, not even on a kingsized bed. | |
|
| Pets in Bed Posted: 10/17/2007 6:47:21 AM | | What is it with all the anti-pet people?? Is there something more special about a bedroom than any other room?? Do you think they're poisonous or dirty? Why have them at all then?? | |

| Pets in Bed Posted: 10/17/2007 6:52:47 AM | There's already another thread on this subject.
1. If you don't like your dog in your bed, then that's how you choose to live, by all means live that statement. If others do let their pets sleep with them, then that's THEIR choice on how to live. That's the beauty of America - we all get to live the way we want without being told what to do.
2. If you don't like someone you're dating to have their pet in the bed when you're there, then go to YOUR house and sleep in your bed where it's not happening, or have them sleep over your house so you don't have to worry about it. Better yet, just date someone who agrees with your way of living so it's not an issue or cause for discussion.
3. No one here needs to pontificate about people doing things that don't concern them - as in "ew pets belong in the yard". If you plan on saying that, then preface it with "IMO", as it's YOUR way of thinking, not everyone's. Same if you think pets belong in the bed with you and not outside...people tend to judge all who don't live like they do when it's basically none of their concern, and as long as the pets are cared for and not badly treated, the rest is up to the individual owner (or non owner).

| Pets in Bed Posted: 10/17/2007 7:22:52 AM | My S/O has 80pounds worth of a 'velcro' german shepherd, but the dog has also attached himself to me, so it's all good - except in the bedroom. We are of the same mind on that though, it is just too darn creepy to have those eyeballs watching you during sex, and not much in the way of foreplay either, listening to the dog slurp while licking himself, lol. And, as stated, his size isn't exactly condusive to sharing the bed for sleeping either.
The bed is for two things, neither of which is pet-related.
I also do not like a TV in the bedroom. If you're both laying in bed and awake, there are better things to do than watch the tube.
Even the dog understands this, so we can safely leave the bedroom door open. That pretty much sums it up for us, and even though there are rules for him, there is no question as to how much that dog is loved and/or spoiled by both of us.

| Pets in Bed Posted: 10/17/2007 9:20:25 AM | My 3 cats are always welcome on my bed, any time of the day - the only slack I cut is for those with allergies. Love me, love my animals - thats the way it should be. They aren't stupid, they make themselves scarce if the situation arises, so there usually isn't an issue.
-signed a pet lover. :D | |

| Pets in Bed Posted: 10/17/2007 9:31:12 AM | ::Looks down at the cat next to him:: Nope I don't let my pets in my bed. ::looks again:: She just gets up here anyway.
I don't have relationships. If I ever found a woman, well hopefully the only way she'd end up in my bed was if she and I were in love and either going to get married or were married. And if I married a woman that didn't like the cat I'd toss the cat. But until then I'll let the cat sleep where it wants.
However on another note and I know this one doesn't sleep in my bed. But if I meet a woman that didn't like my "Horse" I'd toss the woman. I'll get rid of my cats and dogs, but not my Horses. No woman is worth my horse. ::Grins::

| Pets in Bed Posted: 10/17/2007 9:31:31 AM | Yes, my pets sleep with me... the cat sleeps where he wants to... the dog only if I put him up on the bed because he's too short to climb up! Whoever I date would have to accept it... just part of my life! | |

| Pets in Bed Posted: 10/17/2007 9:42:25 AM | | Okay if the cat walks across my face at 3 in the morning like clock work I have to ask to keep the cat out. If the dog wakes up in the night and wakes me up then I don't know, that is hard call cause dogs are cool. I guess the doggy has to go but most dogs don't do that. Cats like to sit on your face and purrrr at 2. You don't want to offend your girl but accidentally my arm becomes a CAT-a-pult without thinking. Ka-blam oops ! (head lowered) | |
|
| Pets in Bed Posted: 10/17/2007 10:03:29 AM | | lmao Eagre if the cat is only walking across your face you are lucky. When one of them decides to gallop at full speed across my head at 3 am is when I sleepily find a pillow and throw it at offending cat... beanie babies work too. | |

| Pets in Bed Posted: 10/17/2007 10:18:00 AM | I think our Human relationships should come first. I think it's pretty unhealthy (in every way) to have a pet in your bed with you.
If you have pets and are kind enough to let them live indoors, I would draw the line at the bedroom. Maybe it's just me but I NEED my personal space.

I don't think people are "pet haters" because they don't like animals in bed with them. Some people just feel like there should be a line there. A point where pet space ends and people space begins.

of course human relationships should come first, but for me at least, my animals are part of my family. I know certain 2 year old children that can be considered animals, would they not be allowed in bed with you? kind of the same thing, kind of not. Animals to me are a family member - yes you need your space, everyone does - but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't climb up on my bed to say hello when they want to.. How can having an animal in bed with you be unhealthy? they are there to provide companionship, love and security- if the animals are clean - which I'm sure most folks with any sense would make sure they were before allowing them up - why is it a health issue? Just curious.

| Pets in Bed Posted: 10/17/2007 12:47:32 PM | """and "clean" humans dont leave a mess on the clean white sheets from time to time?? thats why we have washing machines!!! lighten up!!
No one can love you like your pets can, and they deserve your best!! """
the new bedding i have is dry clean only & i don't want her sleeping on my sheets next to me, if she took a bath as much as i do i might reconsider, lol... but that is not good for her skin. so no worries she has one of my kids beds to sleep on, 'cause their bedding i can throw in the washer daily if need be... as she tends to get quit dirty - she has a thing for rolling in the dirt when her allergies flare up, poor girl ... :-/ we also got another dog, so she would have some company.. i felt bad for her being the only dog here.. you should see how much they play - i made the right decision there but no need to lighten up, as shes well looked after ... but i appreciate the concern.. i hope my previous post didn't sound to harsh to you, as you seem to care a great deal for animals... take care & have a great day :-)

i am disappointed at the condescending words ... i am not materialistic.. but then you don't know me :-)
