Today's the Day the Irish give voice
Posted: 6/13/2008 10:19:34 AM
Today's the day the Irish give voice

Today is the day
The votes are counted
The Irish will have spoken
The public will have accounted
A Treaty or a Constitution
A deception by the very few
My fate is in your hands
Tell the EU what to do
A constitutional question
Decided by a referendum
Only one out of twenty seven
I say No Surrendium
Don't be coerced
By your government machine
The bureaucrats of Europe
Have hands not so very clean
Annual accounts unsigned
Audits continually rejected
Expense accounts manipulated
MEP's corruption detected
Transparency denied
To the many by the few
Deny Europe a greater say
Over me and over you
Your rights are enshrined
By your own national constitution
You don't need Brussels
To give you devine absolution
Democracy is dying
The citizen is enraged
Once again auld Ireland
The world is your stage
Stand up to the aggressor
Take up the gauntlet
Tell the unelected commissioners
They can no longer flaunt it
Democracy denied
To the European public
By their national governments
Except in the Republic
Two hundred million people
Denied their democratic vote
Go on you bold fenians
One last final revolt

Bartolomiej Chrobak & Bartlomiej Czerwinski

Two Poles dead
Killed by fire
What I heard
Sounded so dire
Handles on doors
Not held firm
Doors wouldn't open
Survivors confirmed
Ten mattresses dumped
On bedroom floors
None placed safely
Behind obligatory fire doors
Two young men
Economic migrants
Treated no better
Than unwanted vagrants
Maximise return
Maximise rent
Minimise commitment
Smoke detectors spent
No fire escapes
No windows that would open
These were words
At the Inquest spoken
The landlord stood up
Spoke words untrue
The Coroner was dismayed
The relatives they knew
Statutory failings
Obligations not met
As one widow sat in court
And silently wept
The Coroner was dismayed
His hands were tied
The landlord I knew
That he had lied
Solicitors sitting
On a watching brief
To maximise their profit
To capitalise on grief
One person not present
He failed to arrive
The Chief Executive
The State had connived
Asked to attend
To assist the Court
He stayed away
An arrogant sort
Planning misuse
Central to the deaths
Now only old photographs
Are all that is left
Resign you b*stard
Leave your State job
Truth and justice
That day were robbed
Who are you
To be above the law
Get back into your hole
Go on, go back, crawl
Your resignation demand
Now sits on your desk
Signed from myself
Sealed with a kiss
To busy to assist
The Law of the Land
My aren't those in power
Awful mighty and grand

birdman is back with a flurry
his attitude, what's the hurry
he's saved up some words
and now the bird
is making my eyes go blurry

is he ranting or raving or venting or what
if you were in his presence would his mouth ever shut
topical and wiser
and a great despiser
of all that is wrong and he speaks from his gut

reading bird's words takes me to the wee hours
I go for days without baths or showers
sometimes they are gripping
unless he's been tipping
then he's more silly than Fawlty Towers

Et Al

(Basil Fawlty - My Hero)

Stuff it up your holes
You pompous smug asses
The peat and bog farmers
Fcuked up your compasses
Suffer in silence
You dictatorial leeches
The public failed to listen
To your disingenuous speeches
Only the few
Only the brave
Said with one voice
Ireland won't be enslaved
Confidence gained
Confidence accrued
Let all European peoples
Reclaim democracy anew
Throw of the shackles
Of our European lords
Tell them what we think
Of their political frauds
To big
To large
To cumbersome
To unweildy
To bureaucratic
So utterly greedy
New voice found
Leadership given
Bottom up politic
Perhaps now driven
Take not now
The public for granted
Your fcukin constitution
Was not what was wanted
What now
Should the Irish vote again
To give you the right answer
To your one true aim
Will democracy be accepted
For what now should be
Have the people of Ireland
Set the rest of Europe free
Or shall they be chastised
Shall they need to be re-educated
Just like in Zambabwi
By a leadership that is hated
 a rose is a rose...

She lowers her standards stops looking for a hunk

The Day After
Posted: 6/14/2008 4:28:21 AM
The Day After

The mouth has bitten
The hand from which it was feed
But I fear
A terrible price will have to be paid
How dare some Paddies
Living out in the sticks
Act like some Presbyterian Fenians
Blood stupid Micks
How dare an island
No matter how green
Stand against the Federalists
Preposterous, obsecene
Go back
Re-educate your illiterate proletariat
Whilst we settle upon
A second election date
Policy has been decided
We can't change our plans
A President must be appointed
Over twenty seven lands
Jobs for the boys
It's what we do best
And a new foreign secretary
Now go resit your test
We want more powers
We want more control
Now you stupid fcukin Irish
Just do as you are told
So the scene is set
For the humbling of Mr Cowan
As he goes to Europe
Head and cap bowing
The election result
Was all his fault
He said he was responsible
For bringing Europe to a halt
What a fcukin insult
What a disgrace
How I would love
To slap the fat feckers face
You stupid cretin
You arrogant baffoon
Don't you realise
Before too soon
The public spoke
They fully understood
They don't need to be lecturered
When you are in the mood
Can you not accept
The public's opinion
Is that not part
Of European dominion
The rule of the Kaiser
The rule of French aristocracy
Peaks up it's head
To subdue Irish democracy
The larger states
Subvert the weak
Now finally listen
To the voice of the meek
We reject your attempts
To subvert our nation
For the European Union
Is a flawed creation
Gordon Brown
Should today be so ashamed
For he removed my voice
He is to blame
I was promised a say
On this constitutional arrangement
But New Labour realised
The possible derailment
So democracy in the UK
Has been once again stiffled
Give praise and thanks
For the Republican rifles

My words stand tall
Cause my member is small
And From the day of my birth
I was given only one ball
So no option have I
But to speak words of truth
So everything you now hear
Is honest, forsooth
One ball gives a man
Determination
I wonder if also
It gives him constipation
So a 50% man
With a very little tool
Has to speak words of wisdom
For his lack of crown jewels

Speaking of Crown Jewels, It's Good Queen Beth's
birthday and she forgot me again!!!!

Forgotten Again
Posted: 6/14/2008 12:07:00 PM
Forgotten Again

The Honour's List was published
My name was omitted
Someone I think
Is being dimwitted
I'm felt sure Her Majesty
Would knight me with her sword
Because of my charitable words
I would get an award
No OBE was granted to me
Not even an offer of an MBE
No Order of the Bath
No knighthood of distinction
Will I die a mere pleb
With my pending extinction
Do my words not shine
Bring pleasure to the Palace
Is it my double edged sword
Or my poisoned chalice
What's wrong with me
Does my face not fit
Yes! I'm getting agitated
You devious wee shit*
I know the honours
Are vetted by you
That you are a civil servant
And you know I hate you
You dish out the honours
To the same old clique
Old has beens from the threatre
You make me sick
Old decrepid figures
Who suck up to Ministers
Who purchase their knighthoods
By deals that are sinister
Do my words of wisdom
My refreshing honest style
Not allow you to consider me
For a stately old pile
No MBE
No OBE
No KCB
No CBE!!!!!
No plebs to wait
And call me Sir
No fingers pointing
Or eyes that stare
Go on you old fruit
On this Queen's anniversary
I earned all my letters
The hard way at university

Oh fcuk don't start me on the university honours system!!!

Equally Yours
Posted: 6/14/2008 3:01:35 PM
Equally Yours

Equity and friendship
Together as one
Equals and opposites
Having some fun
Friends, lovers, partners
All together
Minds a meeting
In all sorts of weather
No time for abuse
No time for inequality
That's not really part
Of bonhomie and jovality
All men equal
Sitting at the pub table
No difference recognised
Between Cain and Able
Treat me as your equal
Get treated with respect
Don't ever talk down to me
Don't show contempt or neglect
Friends and companions
Some made for life
Ups and downs
Tribulations and strife
Unlike other worlds
And parallel lives
Where power is not sated
And people contrive
The world of business
The art of politic
Where friendship is only
A short term fix
Where friendship is based
On political necessity
A short term romance
Based on duplicity
Where like attracts like
Like flies around shit*
Politicians and friendship
The two don't fit

Seventy Five pounds
Posted: 6/14/2008 3:41:53 PM
Seventy Five pounds

Seventy five pounds
Seventy five pounds
For one child
Buried between rubble mounds
Is that your final insult
To add to the injury
When officials of the state
Are guilty of perjury
Diluted cement
With so little strength
Reinforcing bars
Insufficient diameter and length
So many children
Found in school rubble
No officials yet
Facing judicial trouble
Only one child
Only one child
That's all I was allowed
Now just a name in a file
To old now
To again conceive
Now this seventy five pounds
I can't believe
Compensation for my loss!
My family demise
No more my child
Will see China's blue skies
Taken not by God
But by man's innate greed
Who now, who now
Will be my seed
Tremors a new
After quakes persist
Take your compensation
It will not be missed
Bring me instead
Those who abused their position
Who tampered and reduced
The concrete composition
Bring me their heads
On a silver plate
Reclaim their wealth
Carve up their estate
Place in position
New guiding foundations
To prevent further more
Earthquake devestations
Build our new schools
Using appropriate specifications
To reduce similar tragedies
To the Chinese nation

Death
Posted: 6/15/2008 12:51:41 PM
Death

The child is born
With the sole purpose to die
So many years in between
We ask ourselves why
A beginning and an ending
Some time in between
What is this all about
Life I mean
Born to die
Our only certain conclusion
No mincing of words
No obfusion
Death sits
Waits patiently
Time is on his side
He will come and take you
On your final ride
No escape is possible
No place to hide
No matter your age
He seeks his bride
The old are his favourites
Those still born
He cares not for those
Left behind to mourn
For he will come to collect them
Perhaps maybe next week
Try as you will
To play hide and seek
The strong, the mighty
The physically fit
All one size
Into the coffin fit
All living things
To death will come
Someday he will reclaim
The moon and the sun
Accept the inevitable
Loss of father and mother
Then death comes to take
Your sister and brother
He may spare you
For a few more years
Whilst he collects others
Sheading no tears
From the dawn of man
He now has quite a collection
I think he has for us
A deadly attraction
Death holds no fears
For one such as me
I have a secret
Death won't scare me
I'm afraid of living
I'm afraid of growing old
I fear ineptitude
Doing what I am told
I fear being a burden
On family and friends
So when death comes to collect me
I'll welcome a dear old friend

One person's opinion
Posted: 6/15/2008 1:15:43 PM
One Person's Opinion

He speaks with such authority
The knowledgable man
Impressing those who listened
I was becoming quite a fan
Words rolled easily
From his tongue all agreed
He's an academic man
He impresses even me
He voiced his concerns
He put forward his views
His arguments are persuasive
Agreement will ensue
Then he presented his opinions
Appearing as hard facts
I had to be weary
Now I could not relax
He starts sounding omnipotent
He has found his audience receptive
As his talk moves ahead
He knows they are captive
He oversteps the mark
His confidence has grown
Full of his own self importance
He starts plagerising his song
Several times I felt
Fact and opinion were confused
Such was his personality
The two became fused
I knew I was listening
To a political man
He twisted and warped
The way a politician can
Facts became distorted
Opinions came to the fore
Never once was he cautious
Always so self assured
The talk became a speech
The speech became a lecture
Then all of a sudden
The audience began to hector
He started to appear nervous
Even flustered and confused
He didn't like it at all
When his arguments were abused
His facts where challenged
By one particular minion
Who rightly stated out loud
His facts were
Only one person's opinion

The Boys in Blue
Posted: 6/16/2008 11:30:08 AM
The Boys in Blue

Sneaky men
In uniforms wearing
Hiding behind walls
Unfeeling, uncaring
Well positioned
To spring their trap
Guns pointing
We take the wrap
No character, no shame
Just revenue collectors
Three penalty points
With their speed detectors
Go on smirk
With your colleagues goad
Another hard working man fined
Travelling on the road
The playground bully
Has found his vocation
He's now a police officer
Out to save our nation
He risks his life
Combating serious crime
And just for fun
He hands out speeding fines
It's the law he says
I'm just doing my duty
As the Inland Revenue
Collect's the booty
He positions himself
On roads that are fast
Then he jumps out from behind a wall
At the very last
Then the whipper snapper
Dares to lecture you
Yes Mr Office
I promise to be good
Hard working men
Trying to earn and honest days pay
Then the tax collector
Takes it all away
It's health and safety
It's all to stop deaths
But I'm not having a drink
And my brakes are the best
No matter
Don't argue
The big brother state is always right
You are to be criminalised
If you put up a fight
What manner of a man
Hides behind a wall
Like the school ground sneak
Waiting for your downfall
This collector of taxes
This lacky of the State
Oh Mr Police Officer
I think you are great
A patsy of the State
A snake in the grass
Demonise the motorist
You uniformed ass
Gone is my respect
For the strong arm of the law
As you collect another fine
Not seeing your own flaw
No public duty
Are you doing today
Health and safety was not improved
As you hid in your lay
The car thief, drunk, joy rider
They get off with impunity
As they drive dangerously
With total immunity
Routine traps
Sprung on the unsuspected
Honest citizens criminalised
That's only to be expected
The State gets wealthy
As the poor become poorer
You assist in this equation
You uniformed whore
The criminals have fun
Whilst they knife, steal and rape
Mr Policeman hides behind walls
Isn't it just fvcking great
Go on you bastrads remove my licence
Remove my job
But not my silence
Make my family impoverished
Cause I can't ply my trade
Yes I blame you officer
For this tirade
A revenue collector
That's all you have become
You fatherless son
With your lazer gun
Do I not pay enough
My monthly contributions to the state
Such is your greed
Your hunger won't abate
More money, more money
The state needs more money
So they introduce fines
The police laugh cause it's funny
Your Inspector is too dim
To see the consequences
As middle age men
And left defenceless
No more has the police
Got the support of the common man
You lackies of oppression
You're just the Governement's tax man

Wishes

Wishes

Careful what you wish for
For your dreams may come true
One day it happened to me
It could happen also to you
Prayers said over repeatidly
Then perhaps one time heard
Your wish at last comes ture
Life really seems so absurd
How can something so wonderful
Happen to me
I am so undeserving
Why did you answer my plea
You give thanks and praise
But the thanks may be premature
For your ills may just be starting
Your wish may ironically be no cure
God they say
Works in his mysterious ways
And the piper plays
For the one who readily pays
Prayers once answered
May change your life course
Bring also they may
A certain unforseen discourse
Who can see the benefits
Of things which men desire
The consequence of envy
May sometimes be so very dire
It may well be
That prayers that go unheeded
Are deliberately so
For things not really needed
Unanswered prayers
May be by deliberation
To make us think
To encourage hestitation
Be careful what you wish for
Be careful being in a rush
For that thing you most desire
Maybe the thing that you will crush
Examinations not passed
Wealth not received
Partners not materialising
No response to our selfish need
Not prayers unanswered
Not us being devinely ignored
Simply redirections
From a very dangerous alure
Careful what you wish for
For your dreams may one day come true
What looked initially so appealing
May be harmful if given to you
Wishes that may be granted
Can into nightmares turn
Then no more will you ever wish
No more will you ever yearn

The fall of the EU
Posted: 6/17/2008 10:59:00 AM
The fall of the EU

Hypocrites and charlatans
From the European Union
Have supped the gravy train
Should not have my communion
Fraud and scandal
From our European MPs
Reading the papers
That's all I see
One pays his own company
Four Hundred Thousand Pounds
Then has to resign
Cause the anomaly was found
I must be transparent
No conflict of interest must have I
Then why can't the same rules
Apply to them tell me why
Chichester pockets
Some four hundred grand
For representing you and I
For representing this land
Another called Dover
Pays his daughter and wife
And I pay increased taxation
For the rest of my life
Of all the institutions
The European Union is the most corrupt
Pigs to the trough
See the MEPs sup
Their audits are a joke
Failed year upon year
As our MEPs
Drink fine wines and not beer
Transparency is for us
Never for them
Secrecy is their code
Never to be condemned
Reports are kept secret
Under a vow of silence
They claim to be democratic
We are far too compliant
Why does the public
Tolerate this undemocratic institution
Sign no more I beg thee
European Constitutions
The centre is removed
To far from the circumference
The public are lethargic
Show too much indifference
The democratic deficit
Has been exposed
As the Irish have shown
Opposition now grows
So Rome fell
As did the British Empire
So to will European Union
Shortly expire
When the individual
He finally starts to wake up
He will see very clearly
He is governed by the corrupt
The individual
Must be empowered
No more, no more
This is our hour
Throw of the shackles
Of the bureaucratic machine
No more super organisations
That reign supreme
Finally reclaim power
From the Super States
Who screw the individual
And who the public all hate

Little Things

Little Things

I never paid attention
Then I was accused
Now looking back remembering
I feel confused
It's the little things
I still remember best
After all these years
Memories surprise and impress
So many small things
All combine
One gells into another
Then they all entwine
The way she walked
Not quite a run
Determined to get away
From whence she came from
A walk, a gait
I have not again seen
Not the walk
Of a catwalk queen
The look on her face
The smile on her lips
Nails bitten deep
Into her finger tips
Bargain hunting
The way she swore
The tears she cried
And so much more
So many small things
I can still remember
Her fondness for the sun
Her dislike of December
Her body grew numb
In the winter winds
So many idiosyncracies
So many little whims
So many insignificant
Little details
Why can I still remember
The times she was frail
Her hunger
Her laughter
Her anquish
Her sorrow
The fact she could not
Imagine a tomorrow
Other images of others
Have departed my head
Other memories or others
Are now long dead
Yet the trivia
The minutia
Every little detail
If I open my mind
I see them all
They all combine
They grow
They integrate
They form a unified whole
Each image forms a line
And the story is retold
So these little things
I try to put out of my mind
It's called self protection
Never meaning to be unkind

No Names

No Names

I never knew her name
We simply played a game
Identities never disclosed
As we positioned as we posed
Perhaps for only a day, never a year
Coming together parting would be no fear
No names required between us two
Different directions we would pursue
Anonymity refreshing no names known
No tears either when the bird had flown
The mystery, the intrigue all to enjoy
Between unknown girl and anonymous boy
Much discussed a lot in common
Names and addresses always a famine
Was she Samantha, Sally or Sue
Did it matter to her, to me, to you
Names and identities why required
To much information to kill the desire
Names whisphered in bed before dawn
When one was asleep no need to mourn
No packages, no phone calls no letters addressed
Anonymity and absurdity things I love best

Street Fighting Man
Posted: 6/18/2008 10:54:17 AM
Street Fighting Man

Street Fighting Man
Odds stacked high
Not allowed to question
Or to ask why
Must know his place
Must know his station
He has a place
A designation
Times have moved on
The population exploded
The rights of the individual
By necessity eroded
Don't be to concerned
The State is all caring
Let the state take control
It's not being over bearing
It's just that there are too many
Of the little street people
Many who are indifferent
Many who are unable
The Rights of Man
The thoughts of Paine
Are no longer valid
In this bureaucratic reign
Don't fight the odds
Give into the system
Don't make a fuss
Cause no one will listen
Just do as you are told
Make life easy for yourself
Don't argue with the State
It's bad for your health
Go watch some Big Brother
Watch daytime TV
See the distractions
The State's provided for thee
The State is munificent
All caring all around
Don't make the State angry
You'll get pound into the ground
Individuality has now gone
Protest is at an end
The individual has been defeated
He and the State are good friends
Then every now
And every again
Comes along a dissident voice
Who they call insane
The Street Fighting Man
Cares not for their titles
Or their excuses centred
Around economic cycles
Sometimes single individuals
Can hold back the might of the State
So the Street Fighting Man
Is the one bureaucracy hates

Lost Love
Posted: 6/18/2008 1:34:28 PM
Lost Love

I never lost love
It was simply misplaced
I looked long and hard
But never saw a trace
Looked here and there
Searched my very soul
Looking for love
Was like searching for gold
No nuggets found
Searched in many mines
Love lay well hidden
No where could I find
One caret, two
Never much more
Sometimes just fools gold
Nothing at the central core
Looked in the wrong places
Mined in the wrong streams
Carried away I was
With foolish childish dreams
Love was not lost
It was always there to see
Needed simply to look
At life realistically
Needed to look beyond
All that shined and gleamed
Needed to remember
Life was not as it always seems
Needed to remember
All that glitters
Is not gold
And not to listen
To all the stories I was told
To excavate
Deep inside my mind
There I would discover
The key to love I would find
I never lost love
It never lost me
I just needed to
Let my mind run free

New found freedom
From the internet screen
No more obsessions
Once again clean
Cravings now gone
Withdrawal complete
With the internet as my habit
I could not compete
I heard her call
When she was switched off
Like the Sirens of old
She would then laugh
Having drawn me near
Suckered me in
Too much time on the internet
Was a heinous sin
Time frittered away
Surfing the net
Companions and loved ones
I did soon forget
Now sanity
Has been restored
My vice has been broken
I read books and learn
Of things unspoken
Living life again
Away from the world wide web
So many different things
Has my mind now fed
The new spring growth
The migrated birds have returned
The feel of the breeze
As the computer I have spurned
Refreshing experiences
Missed for all to long
Trying to discover
Where I belong
Slavery ended
The prison sentence complete
By the flick of a switch
And movement of my feet
No more numerous hours
No more wasted time
Stuck inside the house
On the computer on-line

well - weened off slowly!

Walking Woman

Walking Woman

With military precision
Arms flailing
She marches on
Arms nearly impailing
The force of her arms
Flying through the air
Onward, forward
Never a care
With grim determination
She moves from A to B
Onward in a hurry
For all to see
Sometimes I see her
Out with a friend
Both moving frantically
I can't comprehend
Can they talk and breath
At the same time
As the arms and legs
Move in rhyme
Stride upon stride
Foot chasing foot
Going nowhere inparticular
In her bright yellow suit
Not running, nor jogging
But power walking tonight
This lady in her haste
Is a frightening sight
Arms swinging
At 180 degress
Then at 90 degree angles
Goes her fragile knees
Walking so fast
But really going nowhere
Don't impead her
Please don't dare
Steely determination
Etched on her face
As headphones
Tightly on ears placed
Eye of the Tight
Or the 1812
Into her mind
The sounds delve
Onward, forward
Faster, heart pounding
The lady power walker
Is something astounding

Luck of the Irish
Posted: 6/22/2008 5:00:13 AM
Luck of the Irish

Wearing the shamrock
Wearing the green
Jolly smiling leprechauns
Nowhere to be seen
No more blarney
No more good luck
The EU is warning
Your decision process sucks
Merkel, Berlusconi
And Sarkozy to name just a few
Want now to tell the Irish
Just what to do
Behind the pious platitudes
Behind the phoney diplomacy
The Irish will have to answer
To new President Sarkozy
No more the Brits
Your Imperial masters
Now you can blame Europe
For forthcoming economic disasters
Democratic decisions in theory
Are absolutely fine
Except if to the Europeans
Your decisions are unkiind
So theory and practice
Have had a divorce
So it seems
After political discourse
The outcome of Lisbon
The outcome of Ireland's election
Is that you must review and change
What is now an irksome distraction
You have been misinformed
You have been somewhat muddled
You were not thinking straight
You decision seems befuddled
Now you have had your vote
Go back and vote once again
Listen to us carefully
We want no further distain
Merkel, Berlusconi
And Sarkozy all say
Go back review and change
Do it our way
The fishermen must catch
Only that which is allowed
You can farm hill sheep
But you can't farm many cows
Brussels dictates
European intervention
It needs more powers
Hence the New Treaty invention
If you can't vote correctly
You will simply be by-passed
You stupid fcuking Irish
Whose voters are an ass
So Ireland's democratic
Popular wish
Is not best served
As a cold European dish
Cowan goes humbly
Cap in his hand
Explains his mistakes
To Sarkozy's golden tan
Instead of saying feck away of
Back to your palaces and chateaus
Leave Ireland to the Irish
Or I'll give you a bloody nose
Wars of independence
Fought and now lost
New colonial masters
Now are the Irishman's boss
Just like Gordon Borwn
A birthright will be sold
The Irish and the British
Will do as they are told
Independence is not valued
We can't cope all on our own
We must all pay hummage
To the European throne
Ireland's voice will be ignored
It's people subjected
To ridicule and laughter
As it's decision is rejected
It's politicians will sell
The Irish birthright
To the bureaucrats of Brussels
Without much of a fight
There is only one way
To vote from now on
We all must harmonise in unison
With the European song
Liberty removed
The vote made worthless
To avoid the French
And German curses
The old Imperial Europe
Is now being reinstated
The days of the Prussians
And Napoleon once hated
If we don't do as we are told
Perhaps they will invade
Autocrats and bureaucrats
Must democracy enslave
