| 80's Hot or not Posted: 4/22/2009 2:00:24 AM | ah... the 80s... those were the days...
(I sound like an old retired farmer sitting at the diner with the greasy eggs and burnt coffee...)

| 80's Hot or not Posted: 4/22/2009 11:16:30 AM | The 80's rocked! So much great music, style, innovation in technology.
The 90's were a wasteland in terms of anything new or original. Lousy music with lousy pretenders, much like what is out there today. Half these idiots can't even play an instrument any more. I pity the latter generation.
If you dared lip sync back then your career was over. Now they all do and charge people hundreds of dollars for a ticket to listen to a recording.

| 80's Hot or not Posted: 4/22/2009 6:18:03 PM | | I can't really say that I was around dating much in the 80's, but at least they didn't shave "downstairs" all the time. :) | |
|
| 80's Hot or not Posted: 4/22/2009 10:58:18 PM | | I figure if I wore the trend the first time around, I should not be wearing it the second. I looked hot in leggings and a denim mini in the 80's. Now I just look like I'm trying to hard. | |

| 80's Hot or not Posted: 4/23/2009 8:11:31 AM | | The 8O's were definitely the best!!!!!!!!....... | |
|
| 80's Hot or not Posted: 4/23/2009 4:34:54 PM | | I still like alot of the music from the '80's. And yeah the big hair on the women was cool. | |
|
| 80's Hot or not Posted: 4/24/2009 10:10:08 AM | | OMG I still remember that era so damn much. The music, movies & memories were groovy as hell! I recall all the trendy atire & accessories many of us had back then!! I just happen to love the 8Os b/c that when I developed my taste in music & well, music is just one of my fetishes!! Rock on! | |
|
| 80's Hot or not Posted: 4/25/2009 12:56:22 PM | | Love the 80s. I always wished I was a teen then instead of in grade school so I could have fully enjoyed it. The fashions were fun and hilarious and of course the music was fabulous. I still listen to it. Then of course you had shows like Night Rider, The A Team, Night Court & Cheers. Not to mention the economy was great. What's not to like. | |

Please. Posion, Bon Jovi, motley crue? Awful. What you likely considered "cool" was music for sheeople. And yes, you were one of them.

| 80's Hot or not Posted: 4/26/2009 6:34:13 PM | The 80's were the sh*t. But mostly, because they were so corny. That's what made that decade cool.
The rock music was horrible, the hair was horrible, the fashion was horrible...but in a horribly wonderful way. LOL. (but I grew up in the 80's so I suppose I'm partial to that decade) I think there was still some innocence left in society in that decade. Once the 1990's hit, it seems like being overly jaded and cynical about everything became popular too.
The 1990's and the 2000's have been ok so far, but I suppose I'll always have a little soft spot in my heart for the 1980's.

| 80's Hot or not Posted: 4/26/2009 8:33:22 PM | | The first half of the 80's wasn't too great but things definitely improved in the second half. For me it was a great decade. I was in my 20's, the music was awesome, and my working as a nightclub DJ during the 80's was a blast. In fact, music formats went from records to eight tracks to cassette tapes to CD's...this was the beginning of the electronic technology boom. The country also had its greatest modern president, Ronald Reagan. Yep, the 80's were some seriously good years... | |

Um yeah buddy, Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, Boyz II Men, etc.
I'll take the 80's anyday over that crap. How about The Police, Cars, U2, Aerosmith, Prince, Guns n' Roses, Bruce Springstein, to name just a few.
What you consider cool explains your generation and has spawned the crap out there today. Yes you. So put on your Hannah Montana or Brittney Spears CD and leave this thread to those with some taste.

| 80's Hot or not Posted: 4/28/2009 5:00:17 PM | I really enjoy the 80's. It contains some of the greatest music. I guess I am partial to this because this is the era that I grew up in. Don't think I would go back to the big hair or rolled up jeans thou. | |

| 80's Hot or not Posted: 4/29/2009 3:29:35 AM | Shoulder pads, horrible hair and worse music.........................no thanks!
Happy right where I am now

| 80's Hot or not Posted: 4/29/2009 4:10:20 AM | | I thought Adelaide was still in the 1980's ! | |
|
| 80's Hot or not Posted: 4/29/2009 6:23:43 AM | | i dont miss the 80's because we can always relive it anytime we want to.. simply go to an 80's bar... or put back to the future on :) i loved the whole feel of the 80's but i was only a kid when i lived through it so i dont have memories of it too much | |
|
| 80's Hot or not Posted: 9/2/2009 1:37:20 PM | | I miss the bands in the 80's and the souped up hot rods that we all had in high school, but looking back at the fashion then..it was comical. I enjoyed the 90's more. | |
|
| 80's Hot or not Posted: 9/2/2009 2:49:07 PM | Oh, yeah--I miss 'em!
Miami Vice, the Donald Belisario shows like Magnum P.I. and The A-Team, Cheers, Hill Street Blues, St. Elsewhere, Indiana Jones, Poltergeist, E.T., Rambo, Die Hard, The John Hughes teen and eventually adult comedies (God rest his soul), Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA, Tears for Fears' Four-Leaf Clover, Prince-Purple Rain (Appalonia in that big, leather camisole), Flashdance, Footloose, Eddie Murphy's breakout role in Beverly Hills Cop, those big mop mullets of hair, great techno, overprocessed music with lots of synthesizers and reverb from then-fledgling artists like Whitney Houston, artists actually had to be able to SING, a kind of blue-collar sensibility (before Reagan gave all the power to corporations), the dot-bomb yet to happen, could actually make a lot of money as a stockbroker or foreign car salesman...didn't have a lot of technology (CD was only coming into existence) and only a few TV channels, but we got innovative with what we had, and had lot of heart...passion.
But, for sheer technology, I like the '90s too. Recordable CD, DV video recording and DVD came along, which were groundbreaking for quality and adding to the entertainment experience. We weren't yet spoiled on HDTV, ipods and blackberries. In all this technology, we seem to have lost our hearts and have forgotten how to relate to each other...time to get back to basics (he says while using the internet).

| 80's Hot or not Posted: 9/2/2009 4:40:09 PM | Re message 116 - Very clever reply and yes Adelaide IS still stuck in the 80's or perhaps it's more like the 70's..............anyway I'm not originally from here so I view this place as an outsider.
Sorry to everyone else who is probably wondering what the hell I'm talking about. It's an Australian thing.

| 80's Hot or not Posted: 9/2/2009 6:22:27 PM | I remember when my mother REFUSED to buy me parachute pants, those primary color oversized shirts, the biking pants/shorts that everyone wore and those oversized shirts with shoulder pads. Now I look back and I'm thankful. I did wear skin tight pegged pants with preppy sweaters (yeah, the argyle) and penny loafers for a year then it was army pants, black shirt and birkenstocks.
I listened to new wave and punk all those years and didn't have big hair. I guess I was into grunge before it hit Seattle.
ps. I still have the same haircut as I did in the 80s, so in some ways i still live there. :O
|
| 80's Hot or not Posted: 9/2/2009 7:13:06 PM | What can i say? I still like bigger hair :)
also downloaded almost 60 70s and 80s (mostly 80s) songs...
my daughter rolled her eyes when I started; and she proceeded to burn all three cds once she listened to them...
not many places you can have Ah Leah! Tiny Dancer, Juke Box Hero, my Sharona and Walk This Way on the same cd (with another 20 on just that one cd; that are equally all over the place..., )
I confess I even forget myself and head bob on occasion when cranking it in the car... oh well, guess some of us never quite totally grow up :)

| 80's Hot or not Posted: 9/4/2009 2:41:40 PM | | I preferred more of the 'hard core' 80's bands, such as Guns N' Roses and Motley Crue, but my TRUE love was bands from the U.K. Bronski Beat, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Dead or Alive, Def Leppard and Frankie Goes To Hollywood etc. I mean, who cannot have SOME positive reaction to 'RELAX' ? Most probably won't admit it, but that song invokes at the VERY least some toe tapping. I remember going to the local club being a teenager dressed SO obnoxiously that when I see photographs from that time, I just shake my head and laugh. I wonder WHERE in the HELL my friends were, and thinking WHY no one told me I looked so RIDICULOUS! On the other hand, if I go back to that era I realize that all of THEM looked similar or WORSE. I exhibited huge, CRIMPED hair teased to oblivion, with stormy purple/grey eyeshadow and BLOOD RED LIPS !!! The 'clothes' were another genre all in itself as I used to CREATE my own of sorts. Concert t-shirts that I would CUT, then RIP AND TEAR in half to make them shorter, and jeans I would SLASH AND SPLIT in certain places and SAFETY PIN together. I was a trench coat wearing, HUGE black sunglasses sporting, MILE high heel strutting, SNEER making, finger FLIPPING, child of the 80's baby !!! WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE , WATCH IT BRING YOU TO YOUR, IT'S GONNA BRING YOU DOWN - HA ! ~rocks out retro style~ | |
