| OKLAHOMA SAYS GET OUT TO ILLEGAL ALIENS!!! Posted: 3/22/2008 5:49:28 PM | Our imigration laws obviously need to be overhauled big time!!! However, with the current political climate there aren't many politicians who have a decent grasp on how to do that in a manner that provides for the agricultural seasonal workers to come & go legally, and to protect US citizens at the same time.
I live in ARkansas where they just moved the Mexican Consulate's office from TeXas. It looks like the new border is the Mississippi River.
I love people of all races & cultures, but when anyone of whatever nationality arrives in this country illegally, they are criminals instantly. I realize that many of the illegal aliens who came here to work are very sweet people, but they are still here illegally & in some cases are vectors of diseases. Case in point: Whooping Cough had been completely eliminated from this country until the massive wave of illegals began pouring into the country. Part of the process of entering legally is medical health certification.
California is in quite a pickle with their educational system. They are currently laying off teachers because they can no longer pay them. If they weren't educating so many illegals here they wouldn't need all those teachers!!! Education funds are for tax paying citizens. I have to admit that legally, anchor babies have legal citizen rights but their parents are still illegal. If they are forced to go back home to wherever, they have the option to leave their children here or take them with them. Anchor babies should not grant rights to illegals just because they are the parent of an individual with dual citizenship. The child may have rights but the criminal still does not.
Nobody bothered to mention the crimes of stolen identities by illegal invaders. Stolen identity is considered one of the major crimes committed by a large percentage of these people. They open credit accounts & buy furniture, cars, whatever....& some poor sucker gets stuck with the fallout.
Middle class working Americans cannot get help when they need it because it's being eaten up by so much fraud. We are allowed to pick up the tab for all the illegals & those US citizens committing fraud, but heaven help us if we get in a bind!!!!! They look at last year's tax return & say...sorry. You made too much last year. Never mind last year!!! If you are in a bind NOW because middle class jobs are being lowballed by illegals & you cannot work, you are in trouble NOW..not last year. On the other hand, they can just float in & get medical treatment & waltz away. No wonder so many of our public hospitals are being forced to close their doors to the world; legal or not.
It seems we are quickly sliding into becoming another 3rd world country. Yippie/ NOT.
To a previous poster about the smallpox blankets & intentional genocide....well, yes they did intend that to be genocide from the get-go. It became a formal US policy to distribute them. Also, not all indigenous tribes in the Americas migrated over the Bering Ice Bridge. Most of the western tribes came from elsewhere & some such as the Aleuts & Inuits do say they traversed the land bridge, but the Eastern tribes did not come via that route or any other. Different tribes have different stories about where their people came from. The Lakota say they come from right there in the Black Hills & noplace else. I realize your posting was well intentioned, but that is white man's version of history which is only "the victor's version." Those are the stories white society teaches everyone. No insult intended from me that you don't know. Heck, most people don't know. Also, the NDNs that Columbus met were the Taino which spanned most of the Caribbean islands as well as part of the coastal region of the northern part of South America.
I'm sure I'll get a pounding for parts of this posting. Ah well. Viva la differance! That's what is so beautiful about Freedom of Speech!...for as long as we still have it.

| OKLAHOMA SAYS GET OUT TO ILLEGAL ALIENS!!! Posted: 3/22/2008 6:05:26 PM | >>>Lets look at the manufacturing industry. What was once a secure well paying job that put folks in middle class America, with incomes to purchase homes, provide a better future for children, college educate children, be able to have family vacations and plan for retirements have for the most part been sent over seas to gain higher profits for large businesses.
So because the economy is down and manufacturing companies can afford less employees at such an exorbitant wage for simple tasks, its illegal immigrants fault?
>>>Lets look at family started and owned businesses. Dillons grocery stores would be a good example. When this was a family owned business, 90% of employees were full time employees, with benefits and good wages. Now it has been purchased by Kroger, very few of the jobs are full time, maybe 10%, most part time with no benefits and the wages have dropped over the last 10 years. A person can not work there and support a family on one wage earner, without being considered working class poor.
I'm sorry- I thought you were promoting laws punishing immigration and illegal immigrants, not punishing legal corporations in the guise of fighting illegal immigration.
>>> When companies can go abroad and hire well educated tech people for 50 to 75% of what they would have to pay an American educated employee, (keeping in mind that India's government pays for its brightest young peoples education and Americans must pay and acquire the debt of their education) don't have to have the concerns of providing retirement benefits and most are single young employees, so it cuts the cost of providing medical insurance and other benefits also.
I'm sorry- I thought you were promoting laws punishing immigration and illegal immigrants, not demanding we accept that the Government pay for our post-secondary education. Seems awfully like you got an agenda.....
>>>When the labor pool is flooded, be it visa foreign workers or illegal workers, it boils down to supply and demand and if the labor pool is overabundant, wages will be suppressed.
And what if illegal immigration isn't the problem? What if the problem slowly created itself from an overabundance of LEGAL residents?

Our imigration laws obviously need to be overhauled big time!!!
.........there are already laws on the books, and they are willfully being disregarded by our illustrious leaders.
we don't need any new laws to deport illegals.....its just not being done as it should we don't need laws to fine those who hire illegals......its already against the law! we don't need laws to better patrol our borders......its our right!

| OKLAHOMA SAYS GET OUT TO ILLEGAL ALIENS!!! Posted: 3/23/2008 2:25:10 PM | So true - Also children born in this country are not automatically citizens. I forget what the details of it were but there was a provision for them to be accepted as citizens but it was not automatically extended to all children born of immigrants or something like that.
But the big thing is that we DID amnesty before and they have spent millions of dollars in lawsuits over that amnesty act..........Amnesty is not the answer..........it's only been used as a loophole to deter us from now enforcing the laws that are on the books already for fear they will sue under the old amnesty.

| OKLAHOMA SAYS GET OUT TO ILLEGAL ALIENS!!! Posted: 3/23/2008 2:56:15 PM | The problem is, McCain, Clinton and Obama all say they don't support amnesty, they favor a path to citizenship, but its basically the same thing. They have most American citizens fooled into thinking a path to citizenship is much different than amnesty when its not, thats why so many people don't see anything wrong with a path to citizenship. I would say OK has lost..... Foreclosures on Business and Property higher than National Average....
This is from a OBA Study that says Okla Is losing $1.8 Billion because of this Law...
“And let me be absolutely clear: by asking for such a study the Association did not and does not take a position on (whether HB 1804 is a good thing or a bad thing).”
The study was conducted by the Economic Impact Group LLC of Edmond, which constructed a Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) model to analyze the impact of the bill on Oklahoma production. Key findings and conclusions of the study are:
• Oklahoma’s total foreign-born population is estimated to be between 111,000 and 175,000, an estimated 50,000 – 75,000 of whom are “undocumented”. • Of the total foreign-born population, it’s estimated that approximately 103,000 are workers and that approximately two-thirds of this group is classified as low-skilled labor. • The impacts associated with inducing an out-flow of immigrant labor cannot be confined to immigrant communities and industries that primarily employ foreign-born workers. • The complex structure of the State’s economy allows disturbances in one area of the economy to manifest themselves in other areas. The model employed suggests that impacts are spread to skilled labor and industries that rely heavily on low-skilled labor production, regardless of their original inclination to hire immigrant vs. non-immigrant workers. • In the short run, an outflow of approximately 50,000 foreign-born workers (about one-half of all immigrant workers in the state), is estimated to cause a 1.3 percent reduction in gross state product. In terms of Oklahoma’s 2006 production level, this represents a nearly $1.8 Billion economic penalty. • In the long run, some of the impacts of the out-migration are offset by new immigration. Given this adjustment period, the model predicts long run recurring reductions of nearly 1 percent in gross state product, or nearly $1.3 Billion in terms of 2006 production. • Both the estimated short-run and long-run impacts are consistent with similar analyses performed recently for the State of Texas. http://www.oba.com/oba_news.php?action=story&story_id=1225

Oklahoma Bankers Association
Funny .....lots of lucky thirteens in that article.
Those bankers are a wonderful , caring and trustworthy lot. The costs to a society by illegal immigration in the long term are incalculable. Even if this nice and caring bankers association study were correct (which IMO it is not) and there was actual negative ecomomic effect from this law , then ... - the system must be changed - and there are some things much more important than $$$ ...i.e...... the rule of law and a nation's sovereignty and therefore a person's nation in itself.

| OKLAHOMA SAYS GET OUT TO ILLEGAL ALIENS!!! Posted: 3/27/2008 5:13:54 AM | The numbers don't make sense, overlap and are deceptive. I read something from a similar anti-immigrant rag that said if the illegals were all deported, then less people on the highways and no more rush hours! Oh, yeah! Life could be so good once "they" are gone! It reminds me of 1939 Germany and the vilification of the Jews, the ones who were "sucking the blood" from the master race and cause of all Germany's problems!
The drain on the economy from war makes all this pale in comparison, but that's another discussion.
Look at the first bullet on the tinyurl.com citation. """"Legal immigrants are barred from all federal means-tested public benefits for five years after entering the country and barred from SSI and food stamps until citizenship. They are also barred from all federal means-tested public benefits for five years.7 "". NOw that is LEGAL immigrants, would you say that the illegal ones enjoy public assistance more than that generous package? And this one: """Illegal immigrants are barred from the following federal public benefits: grants, contracts, loans, licenses, retirement, welfare, health, disability, public or assisted housing, post secondary education, food assistance, and unemployment benefits. States are barred from providing state or locally funded benefits to illegal immigrants unless a state law is enacted granting such authority""". Doesnt sound all that generous to me!
I didn't check out the rest of the citations but from my sample, the numbers given in this post are crap.
Probably, the only number that means anything is the cost of deportation. It is huge and it is also a pretty ugly alternative for Americans.

| OKLAHOMA SAYS GET OUT TO ILLEGAL ALIENS!!! Posted: 3/27/2008 5:31:30 AM | I live in a neighborhood where there are a lot of immigrants and always were. Once upon a time, they were Jewish and I worked for them as a kid delivering bagels and kosher meat on my bike. They saved their money, bought homes in better cities and moved out. There is a massive synagogue here abandoned for 20 years. Then there was a wave of Vietnamese, then Cambodians and there are a couple of Vietnamese restaurants remaining, but they've also saved, bought in better towns and moved out. Now there is a mix of Spanish and Brazilian. As I am returning from work at the end of the day, there is a crowd of them headed into town to clean the buildings. Most work two jobs.
I shop at a little Brazilian market, very sweet and friendly people, and see people wiring money back to Brazil constantly. They support families, kids in college, etc. and are quite sacrificing to work so hard and make so little, only to ship off any spare money they have to their families. I am not nearly so industrious or sacrificing. I have known women who haven't seen their kids of families in years because they can't risk flying back and forth, so they just work here and suffer that. It's sad... and also admirable.
My guess is that a very large percent are more hard-working than the average American, more law-abiding because they can't risk arrest, etc. and add to our economy .... these people are due tax refunds and don't even apply. I can't comment on California or Arizona, but here in the Northeast they work hard, run businesses, and are nice, friendly people with little or no criminality except that they lack the paper.

| OKLAHOMA SAYS GET OUT TO ILLEGAL ALIENS!!! Posted: 3/27/2008 5:35:17 AM | You make it sound as if illegals can't get welfare benefits. This link would suggest otherwise http://www.the-signal.com/news/article/995/ Also, keep in mind many illegals are already deported from the U.S. every year, yet we have far far more coming in than we deport because no U.S. president since Eisenhower has done much about stopping illegal immigration. Thing is, we don't even need to deport them all. Fully enforce the laws so that illegals can't illegally get jobs here and can't get welfare, and then most illegals will leave the country on their own. | |

| OKLAHOMA SAYS GET OUT TO ILLEGAL ALIENS!!! Posted: 3/27/2008 3:53:14 PM | Just saw this on MSN.com What a great idea, when the **stards break the law, make them learn English get GEDs and get a real job. OR GO TO JAIL.
Sadly, this quote from the judge; "Do you think we are going to supply you with a translator all of your life?"
the answer is probably YES...
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - A judge known for creative sentencing has ordered three Spanish-speaking men to learn English or go to jail.
The men, who faced prison for criminal conspiracy to commit robbery, can remain on parole if they learn to read and write English, earn their GEDs and get full-time jobs, Luzerne County Judge Peter Paul Olszewski Jr. said.
The men, Luis Reyes, Ricardo Dominguez and Rafael Guzman-Mateo, plus a fourth defendant, Kelvin Reyes-Rosario, all needed translators when they pleaded guilty Tuesday.
"Do you think we are going to supply you with a translator all of your life?" the judge asked them.
The four, ranging in age from 17 to 22, were in a group that police said accosted two men on a street in May. The two said they were asked if they had marijuana, told to empty their pockets, struck on the head, threatened with a gun and told to stay off the block.
Attorneys for the men said they were studying the legality of the ruling and had not decided whether to appeal. One of the attorneys, Ferris Webby, suggested that the ruling was good for his client, Guzman-Mateo.
"My client is happy," Webby said. "I think it's going to help him."
The judge sentenced the four men to jail terms of four to 24 months. But he gave three of the men, who already had served at least four months, immediate parole. Reyes-Rosario remains imprisoned on an unrelated drug charge.
Olszewski ordered the three to return with their parole officers in a year and take an English test. "If they don't pass, they're going in for the 24 (months)," he said.
Olszewski is known for outside-the-box sentencing.
He has ordered young defendants who are school dropouts to finish school. He often orders defendants to get full-time employment. But he also has his staff coordinate with an employment agency to help them find the jobs.

| OKLAHOMA SAYS GET OUT TO ILLEGAL ALIENS!!! Posted: 3/27/2008 4:13:56 PM | Legal and illegal immigration came out of legislation in the 1960's. Prior to that, all immigration was legal, but it took a number of other things to become a citizen and enjoy full rights and privledges.
My grandparents came over from Italy in the 1930's as did many southern Italians who landed in NY and Boston. The spoke little English and my grandfather was basically a ditch-digger well into his 70's. He brought some vine starts from Naples, which grew some wonderful grapes that he'd cruch to make wine down in the basement. They saved, bought a home cash, had chickens and a rooster and a big garden like in the old country, and raised 3 kids ...my father, uncle and aunt.
Their kids, like the kids of immigrants today, were bilingual and like today, the 3rd generation spoke only English. That would be me.
My guess is that my grandparents would have risked illegal immigration to come here to escape the poverty of southern Italy at the time. There isn't a criminal bone in either one of their bodies, nor ever in any of their children, either. My father owned a meat packing plant, my uncle managed a Sears auto store and my aunt was an accountant.
I'm not sure where all the racism and hate from you people comes from. I find it sickening and repulsive. I would bet that it is not about actual people you KNOW and I would bet that, with few exceptions, the immigrants you know are nice people who work hard and mind their own business.

.........there are already laws on the books, and they are willfully being disregarded by our illustrious leaders.
What I meant by overhauling doesn't have anything to do with rewriting the existing laws regarding what happens if caught in the country illegally. As far as that part goes, I totally agree with you. The part of the immigration law that needs rewriting (in my humble opinion) is the part that includes the number of legal & documented seasonal workers allowed into the US. The agricultural industry apparently does need them or food becomes unaffordable of us. Fine. Allow more temporary workers in on a legal status than currently allowed for while keeping the option to return seasonally for specified occupations only. Allow for return to their homelands in off seasons. Keep out the criminal element & continue to force health certification. This would keep the need for remaining in the country a moot point, we wouldn't have to pay their medical bills, or subsized food & housing, etc.. we have enough welfare recipients that are homegrown. We don't need to import any more.
Our illustrious leaders are just about in need of a writ of mandamous for refusing to uphold the laws of this nation. In my personal opinion, the government officials responsible for allowing this massive invasion are committing a form of treason by not protecting this country from such. It's a travesty for the sake of votes.

| OKLAHOMA SAYS GET OUT TO ILLEGAL ALIENS!!! Posted: 3/31/2008 6:02:48 AM | For years now, there have been claims made(those who are pro-illegal immigration often like to throw this around) that without illegals or without a huge guestworker program, prices of fruits and vegetables would go through the roof(I've even hears some pro-illegal immigration people claim 25 bucks for a head of lettuce if illegals leave the country which is ridiculous anyone would fall for that claim), which scares some people into backing off on speaking out against illegal immigration. Check out these articles though which will counter that argument http://www.cis.org/articles/2007/mskoped110607.html http://visionrobotics.com/vrc/index.php?option=com_zoom&Itemid=26&catid=2 | |

| OKLAHOMA SAYS GET OUT TO ILLEGAL ALIENS!!! Posted: 3/31/2008 11:16:52 AM | Americans will be the migrant workers soon. There's already tens of thousands of them across China, Japan, and Korea all living far away from home mainly for the lure of $2000 USD a month. The amazing thing is that except for a few criminals who have forged their documents they all have a minimum of a four year degree. The job is teaching English and I can tell you its a major dissapointment that this is what my college degree has done for me. $50,000 in debt and I have to work outside my own country to have to hope to pay it off.
The quality of living is nothing like back at home, no grass, you live in a room the size of a closet, the air is horribly polluted, but at least I can save enough not to have to touch those credit cards anymore. I'm still priviledged next to the average person in the world, I'll admit that, but I'm dissapointed I can't live in my own country which I dearly miss. I believe if it weren't for all the illegals, I could find a job that I could support myself on, which isn't the case nowadays. If I go back, I'll be lucky to make 10 or 12 bucks an hour, and still pay a ton of taxes.

Perhaps the illegal aliens should group together and do to you ,as you did the indians, take your homes destroy your culture, stick you on a reservation, and forget about you all........ and turn you into the minority......
Considering america is attached to south america, who is invading who, I think they are just moving north are'nt they
Who decided they couldnt, oh thats right the a holes who slaughtered their neigbours and took the land, mmmmmm
What greedy horrible ungratefull selfish humans beings you all are, how hypocritical and unintelligent you are.........
Its just a thought.......

you arrived in that country a few hundred years ago escaping poverty and bad conditons... My grandparents came here from Europe legally. I repeat, legally. This is the key word, legally. They were legal. They didn't come here to produce illegal babies, suck off the system and commit crimes. My grandparents spoke English. They wanted to be Americans. There is quite a huge difference between the immigrants who migrated here during that time, and the illegal immigrants who are running over here now. This is what is not being acknowledged.
...how hypocritical and unintelligent you are. No! you need to direct the anger and bull at the correct targets. Unintelligent? Hardly. Sick and tired of illegal immigrants, yes.

| OKLAHOMA SAYS GET OUT TO ILLEGAL ALIENS!!! Posted: 5/4/2008 8:54:28 PM | Stringbeen great post. I love the liberal slant. The Native Americans were perfect never ever killed any other tribes. Truth the Native Americans had wars, took slaves from other tribes, and even stole land from other tribes. Don't bother with facts it breaks the liberal illusion. As already stated the Mexicans are not true Native Americans they are invaders too that stole land and killed. Sorry another liberal lie exposed.
Anyone that studies history knows for a fact how most country that are destroy is caused from several factors the big one is refusing to accept the culture and language spoken and a failing currency.
Now it is time to take our county back from both the parties in Washington because they are the liars and crooks that sold this nation down the river.

The Oklahoma legislator is pleased the bill he sponsored into law was signed by Governor Henry and believes it will go a long way to curb the illegal immigration problem in the state. "I would remind people that states are separate sovereigns in our federal system," Terrill points out. "Anyone who doesn't understand that needs to go back and take an American federal government class in college," he says
Wow this guy is one of the few politicians that actually has an understanding of our political system, "that states are sovereigns in our federal system".

| OKLAHOMA SAYS GET OUT TO ILLEGAL ALIENS!!! Posted: 5/4/2008 9:18:58 PM | My own dad's originally an immigrant (his whole family basically all came from the same very small village in rural southern Italy), so , being the first one of my father's line to even be born here I don't feel that I really have the right to be getting quite so hot and bothered about the issue of immigration.
Granted, my family came legally, ok..... but there were quotas at the time which caused some of us to have to go and "wait" in Venezuela or Argentina (where some of the Italians stayed) until the US saw fit to let more "undesirable" southern Euros in (& yes they were considered "undesirable" immigrants at the time; this is why the immigration quota law was originally passed in the first place in the 1920's).
I understand their desire for a richer and better life, basically. I don't bear them any grudges for coming here by whatever means necessary if their lives back there were sh_t basically (& I'm talking mainly Mexicans, as I assume most are -- although here in Chicago we do have a good deal of illegal Polskas and other Easterners too ; although they're less discussed in general).
Personally I love the central (and south) American peoples and their cultures and have always primarily dated women whose families were originally from there, and always feel a great degree of cultural similarity between us (Italians) and them anyway. Regardless of that personal sentiment, I think this country's big enough for everyone, and then some.
In the future I believe it's best for the American-born kids to be raised BI-lingually; English and Spanish and to be more culturally in tuned with the Mexican people who, like it or not, are going to be eventually approaching non-Hispanic peoples in numbers, plain and simple. There's really no reason it has to be so relatively insular up here regarding the neighbors to the south (and no eating a taco from Taco Bell is not a cross-cultural experience).
Look , at the end of the day the hard facts remain that the Anglo Euros took this part of the Americas and the Latin Euros took the bottom parts , FROM the original inhabitants , and by (nearly) genocidal force, uprooting & changing permanently everything from their DNA to their language and religion.
And from looking at them, looking at a lot of these immigrants to the US, they look to me like they may be at least partly Mexican Indian so..... I always figure who am I to be telling people whose bloodline clearly goes back in this hemisphere way before mine to "get out". I don't "own" this place; neither does Lou Dobbs or the "minutemen"...
Change is not always something to be so feared. It doesn't mean it's not going to be America anymore. It's just going to change, yet again. Just as it changed when the Irish people first arrived in waves, then the southern and Slavic Euros arrived, etc etc....all of which were feared, distrusted and generally disliked at the time. Those were the "immigration crises" of their day to the Anglo Americans who'd already been over here far longer, and the country survived just fine. It just changed. No one back then would have ever thought you'd eventually have so many Italian-American cops, or have one on the Supreme Court for example (even though I personally hate that guy, lol...), or have an Irish-blooded mayor of a big city, or a Jewish one, or a Catholic president, much less black men and women in Congress and now one standing a good chance of being the president. It changed..It will change again, and yet still remain uniquely America.
