Posted: 12/11/2007 7:06:04 PM | 15 year gap is my limit either way, under to the age of 18. So since I'm 24 right now, 6 years younger than me is the limit that way, and even then, I don't think I could really do it....would just feel weird.
But, if people are happy, truly happy, without hidden agendas, eg dating an old man/woman to get their fortune type of thing, then I say to hell with age, be happy with each other :D | |

Posted: 12/19/2007 3:16:19 AM | I am of the mindset that every young adult (male) should be lucky enough to have a cougar (significant age difference) Mine was 18yrs, parents were not thrilled, she was older than my mother. However she did teach me what selfless giving and love was all about. Not to mention how do interact without all the awkwardness that normally comes from inexperience. Allowing the true exploration which most women won't allow (too self conscious). Being with a woman of that difference of age she;s in her sexual prime looking for things to try, and being a 20 something in that position allows you to try all those things that any "normal" G/F would balk at and called you a sicko.
I have also been the older with a younger woman I am sorry to say(kinda) she was a virgin. If you have or will be with a virgin especially a female, you need to take things EXTREMELY slow. Make sure they are ready for what its going to do to them physically and mentally. With an experienced and thoughtful partner their first won't be a horror story of pain and confusion. FOREPLAY lots of it...until she can't handle it anymore | |

to be sure that he either already has kids, or is VERY sure that he doesn't want any. Other than that (&
obviously the younger partner is over the age of consent), it really shouldn't matter to anyone. Maturity &
compatability are what's really important.

Although I have no set age limit, I date ladies who are compatible with me in experience and in life outlook and this sort of sets my limits. So far the ladies whom I have dated were all within a few years of my age...well the few who have stated there age were. LOL

Posted: 1/9/2008 7:34:17 PM | I agree with Doc and some others on this one. My ex is sixteen years older. So, learning many things from that experience I try to stick to 5/7 years older/younger then myself.
The age difference was a bonus for me with my ex as at the time that we met I was only 20, so she was 36. I have come a long way since and because of the time we had together. But alas, times and I have changed.
In general, age is just a number in my op. However there is a limit. But that limit is a personal thing. Not something that the general public should have to take into consideration.

Posted: 1/10/2008 6:28:45 AM | I married somone 10 years younger than me when I was in my early 30's... we lasted 15 years. It WAS a great marriage until she ended it. I guess she hit her mid-life crisis... anyway she kicked me to the curb and I had to deal with it  I suppose getting married to her was my mid-life crisis  so she was enitled to hers now 15 years later... when she hit her own middle ages
Online dating is difficult... next, next, next we even did a whole thread "Is online dating too hard?"
When rejections started getting boring (after about a week),  I worked up the courage to go to a POF event. WOW!! I found I was instantly on a "date" with ten or more NICE single women. All I had to do was turn up. I instantly had a full social calendar right above my POF inbox. And I found a brand new circle of friends. There was no way I could dance as many dances as were offered to me. Casual dating and friendship ==> then age really doesn't matter.
In terms of long-term relationships, I think people generally just strike the best deal they can when they are ready to settle down Nothing is ever perfect, esp. not a person. Even if by some chance someone were to find a pefect ten in the looks or sexual athleticism department... who is to say the person would also be able to understand the importance of family, of work, or of such things as politics, economics and logic? My feeling is to settle for someone available and real who is FUN to be with... instead of pining after an imaginary ideal...
To be sure one MUST find a person who is easy to live with and who will pull her own weight. but that still leaves a lot open. Asking for a woman who also looks under 30, makes love like a pro, has a great job, lives close by, and is just dying to enter a monogamous relationship with a much older guy... is really just narrowing the field to near zero I mean if that is what one requires, a guy would have to ask himself if he was truly ready to settle down. There can't be very many such women available. | |
