Is he too old to have it done?Will you find a doc that would do it at this age? Probably not. At the age of twelve a procedure like this being performed for cosmetic reasons would probably face high scrutiny from many system levels.
I think doctors can perform that surgery even to a full grown up adult, provided it is not for cosmetic reasons. If he incurred an infection, that's the only time they would do any kind of surgery. Being Asian, we were taught/encourage to wash our privates. I thought about it when he was born. I have few friends who have children ages 2 or 3 at present, that choose d circumcision on their boys, because it was the culture they were raised to.
My son hasn't mentioned anything so far and if in the future, he would make that decision, I was told it is a very easy procedure that you go in and out of the hospital on the same day. I was contacted by a young guy in the US and told me the details on the procedure of his circumcision at age 21, when he had incurred an infection. | |

*1. The frenar band of soft ridges--the single most pleasure producing zone on the male body. Loss of this densely innervated and reactive belt of tissue reduces the sensitivity of the remaining penis to about that of ordinary skin.
2. Approximately half of the temperature reactive smooth muscle sheath called the dartos fascia.
3. Specialized epithelial Langerhans cells, a component of the immune system.
*4. An estimated 240 feet of microscopic nerves, including branches of the dorsal nerve.
*5. Between 10,000 to 20,000 specialized erotogenic nerve endings of several types, which can discern slight motion, subtle changes in temperature, and fine gradations in texture. This loss includes thousands of coiled fine-touch receptors called the Meissner's corpuscles - the most important sensory component in the foreskin.
6. Estrogen receptors the purpose and value of which are not yet fully understood.
*7. More than 50% of the mobile penile skin, the multi-purpose covering of the glans, that shields all of the specialized penile skin from abrasion, drying, and callusing (by keratin cell layering), and protects it from dirt and other contaminants. The debilitating sexual consequences of keratinizing the glans have never been studied.
8. The immunological defense system of the soft mucosa, which may produce antibacterial and antiviral proteins such as lysozyme, also found in mothers milk, and plasma cells, which secrete immunoglobulin antibodies.
9. Lymphatic vessels, the loss of which interrupts the lymph flow within a part of the bodys immune system.
*10. The frenulum, the very sensitive "V" shaped web-like tethering structure on the underside of the glans; usually amputated along with the foreskin, or severed, which destroys its functionality.
*11. The apocrine glands of the inner foreskin, which produce pheromones—nature's powerful, silent, invisible behavioral signals to potential sexual partners. They contribute significantly to sexuality. Their loss is unstudied.
12. Ectopic sebaceous glands, which lubricate and moisturize.
*13. The essential "gliding" mechanism. If unfolded and spread out flat, the average adult foreskin measures about 15 square inches, the size of a postcard. This abundance of specialized, self-lubricating mobile skin gives the natural penis its unique hallmark ability to smoothly "glide" in and out within itself—permitting natural non-abrasive masturbation and intercourse, without drying out the vagina or requiring artificial lubricants.
14. The pink to red to dark purple natural coloration of the glans, normally an internal organ, like the tongue.
*15. A significant amount of the penis circumference because its double layered wrapping of loose foreskin is now missing making the circumcised penis defectively thinner than a full-sized intact penis.
*16. As much as one inch of the erect penis length due to amputation when the connective tissue is torn apart during "circumcision." This shared membrane tightly fuses the foreskin and the glans together while the penis develops. Ripping it apart wounds the glans, leaving it raw and subject to infection, scarring, and shrinkage.
*17. Several feet of blood vessels, including the frenular artery and branches of the dorsal artery. The loss of this dense vascularity interrupts normal blood flow to the shaft and glans of the penis, obviously damaging its natural function and possibly stunting its complete and healthy development.
18. Every year boys lose their penises altogether from botched "circumcisions" and infections accidents happen. They are then "sexually reassigned" by transgender surgery and must live their lives as females.
19. Every year many boys lose their lives from the complications of medically unnecessary circumcisions. The cause of these deaths are a fact the billion dollar per year circumcision industry willfully obscures and conceals.
*20. There is considerable new evidence that an incomplete penis loses its capacity for the subtle electromagnetic "cross-communication" that occurs only during contact between two mucous membranes, and which contributes to the perception of sexual ecstasy. In other words, foreskin amputation of boys ultimately diminishes the intensity of orgasms for both men and women! | |

If I had a son, I don't think I'd do that to him unless it was Necessary.

Search "no circ" on the web and read what is said. Follow a few links too.
Tell your son to stop showing his****to other boys. Is there some reason he has to like school gym showers? If so it can't be a situation that will last too many more years and the rest of his life will be his own and worth and teasing. If it is in a school take the issue up with the principal. The issue is BULLYING! and wherever it is happening if you love your son, put an end to it because that is the real issue here, not whether or not to mutilate your son. Are you going to let some cruel moron bullying boys make this decision for you?
Learn how to take care of an uncircumcised penis and teach him how to do it for himself. Also teach him what you learn from NO CIRC. Give him some confidence in the fact that he is normal and circumcised boys have unfortumately been cruely mutilated. When he is old enough to use his penis he will know what he has and thank you for leaving him intact.
Also note that there is not currently any recognized medical need for routine circumcision. Very ignorant women, some in Canada but mostly in the USA elect for their boys circumcision just because they like to look at a penis with a bare head and their dad probably was mutilated too and too naive or stubborn to see what happened to him,...morons! They all look the same when rigged for business. How would these women like to have their inner labia and clitoral hood cut off because some perverted man wanted it to look that way? ....very damn few, that's how many! Also an intact penis is easier to keep clean than their own parts. Some doctors might still recommend and do it just to make a dollar. Religious circumcisions are people still living in caves. In ancient times it was done to slaves as a form of emasculation to try and diminish sexual pleasure in the belief they would concentrate more on work. In ancient Egypt, commoners and slaves were circumcised but upperclass, royalty and priests were not. I have read volumes on this subject and highly recommend you do as I suggest. I was circumcised as a very young boy for no medical reason by an ignorant money hungry doctor. It hurt like hell and knowing what I know now I am mad as hell about it. You can take what I say to the bank.  | |

Posted: 3/23/2008 6:28:58 PM | I saw a documentary a while back on Female Genital Mutilation or FGM ... that's circumcisions done on young girls to promote chastity & prevent them from experiencing sexual pleasure. There are variations to this barbaric procedure which in some cases includes complete removal of the cl1toris & is usually done without any anesthesia. The documentary showed a bunch of women holding down a young girl & spreading her legs while her cl1toris was sliced off in what looked like extremely unsanitary conditions in some village in Africa.

I'm surprised at how many people on here haven't had their sons circumcised 'cause I thought most people were getting it done. I left my boys intact after birth because I didn't think it was my right to have part of their anatomy permanently removed. I felt it was a decision that they should make for themselves when they were older. However, as they've showered at school with other classmates, they've been teased about not being circumcised when most of their classmates were. I am sitting on the fence with this one ... part of me is glad I didn't but part of me wishes I had. Yes, it's supposedly more painful to get it done as an adult but I know guys who have had it done & were happy with the results.
I've also discussed the relation between sex & yeast infections with several doctors & their answers were pretty unanimous. I was told that no matter how clean a guy keeps his willy, there is bacteria that multiplies in the warm & moist concealed areas underneath the foreskin & this can cause women to get more yeast infections when in relationships with uncircumcised guys than with circumcised guys. But this is also dependent upon a woman's proneness to yeast infections as well. Yes, one can wash immediately before sex to reduce the risks but it does take away from the spontaneity of impromptu sex. | |

As to washing before intimacy, that could be fun if it was done together with your partner. It would be the "bareback" equivalent of the love-making experience just like putting on a condom is. To be prepared for any impromptu action that might... err pop up, regular cleanings, at least three times a day would be advisable. Well maybe four times a day might be better.  | |

Posted: 3/31/2008 1:36:36 AM | ok, i read most of this thread... I have to add what may have already been said, but to be honest, i lost my patience and got quite annoyed before i could read all that's here...
Before I say anything more - I'll state that I am intact -
1.) God created men with a foreskin... just because circumcision has been commonly performed on babies for years doesn't make it right. The other boys who are cut are truly the ones that are abnormal - since they are the ones that are altered.
2.) There is nothing les clean about a natural penis, we live in a day and age with running water. Anyone who knows how to bathe propery can keep himself clean without having to be waterlogged from showering multiple times per day.
3.) Having a circumcision will most likely cause more damage to a matured penis than an infants penis. (which many have been damaged in the infant stage) When he is oder, It could ruin his sex life due to painful erections from scar tissue.
4.) I won't go into detail, but I can guarantee that any woman who has been with a natural man will tell you how much better sex truly is.
Just my opinion... which I am a little hesitant to post since this will show on my profile... (lol)
By the way - I didn't have my sons cut, by choice. Your son isn't really old enough to understand the consequences of cutting now, and doesn't realize how lucky he is to be the way god made him!

Ummm ... nah uh! T'aint true in my lifetime or experience with an almost equal number of cut & uncut. IMHO, great sex has little to do with whether the guy is circumsized or not ... one has to consider love, attraction, skill, attitude & all those other factors. Not that sex with uncut men can't be steamylicious but some of my hottest experiences were with circumcized guys. So that guarantee is null & void. | |

Great sex ... no dryness or irritation ... no lack of sensitivity or erection problems ... endurance time was comparable to uncut guys & completely in sync with me ... no missing 'v-shaped' parts on his willy ... oral was great ... intercourse was great ... none of those other horror stories mentioned in this thread ... the best sexual relationship I ever had. The only difference was the masturbation technique had to be altered due to the lack of foreskin to slide around, but not a huge problem either. The bonus was that I could go down on him anytime, even after he walked in from a day at work or after working out at the gym & in six years, not once did I ever smell stale urine on his d1ck ... same with other circumcised guys I've been with.
When I go down on an uncut guy, I find myself preparing myself for a surprise either way, fresh or stale as this has been my experience. All it takes is a couple of drops trapped under the foreskin to start breeding the odor very quickly. I also find that a guy's water intake makes a huge difference because the more water he drinks, the more diluted his urine is & therefore the milder the odor. Guys who drink very little water ... well that ever so slight trace of urine under the foreskin can turn wretchedly rank fairly quickly because the odor of their urine is stronger. Guys who drink lots of water ... no problem ... & the water used to make your beer doesn't count!  So guys who are already drinking lots of water, keep it up! | |
