| What was the nicest thing anyone ever did for you? Posted: 4/30/2008 2:40:17 PM | | Perhaps, the nicest gesture or gift I have ever been given was from one who seen me exactly who I am and loved me for simply being me. Unfortunately, I was far from my family and chose not to stay in Texas with her, which in retrospect was my worst mistake. Yet, the gift she gave remains with me to this day and makes me a much better person for it. | |

| What was the nicest thing anyone ever did for you? Posted: 6/6/2008 6:55:13 PM | One of the nicest things anybody has ever done for me probably saved my house. I was 1600 miles from home and watching a major hurricane make a B-line towards the gulf coast and my community. I had not properly boarded up the windows prior to leaving, thinking I'd have plenty of time to deal with securing the house later in the season.
As the storm turned in the Gulf of Mexico and it became very apparent that my town was going to take a direct hit, I called one friend and begged him to board up as many windows and doors as he could ... understand that this person was busy securing his own property and making preparations so that he and his family could bear the brunt of the storm ... but he drove almost 40 miles to my house the day before the storm made landfall and boarded up the majority of my windows and doors ... I honestly believe that had he not done this, especially boarding up the BIG windows facing due south and towards the bay, the house would have been compromised by the 130+ mph winds that came through as the eye of the hurricane passed within 7 miles of my community. Too this day, I cannot thank this person enough.

Posted: 6/7/2008 1:37:51 AM | | I once dated a man who treated me like a princess because I deserved to be treated like one, the first day he told me he loved me we were in London shopping as it was Xmas time. It was snowing he dropped the umbrella took my face in his hands kissed me and told me he loved me. He was fabulous and taught me that I deserve nothing but the best and to never expect second best.

I was a bit sick from something or other, but I had told my former girlfriend in passing that a Pineapple Milkshake was all I needed to get over any sickness early on in the relationship. I went back to sleep, and when I awoke after admitting being a bit under the weather, a Pineapple Milkshake from UDF was waiting for me. First, she remembered a little point from a conversation weeks back, and then she went out of her way to get that. Simple little things, but that's what really stand out.

| What was the nicest thing anyone ever did for you? Posted: 6/10/2008 1:14:04 PM | I owned a 50 unit hotel and bar in Ocean County, NJ. At the time (1995), business was slow and someone bought a tax lien against my business. I was frantic, and scrambling to figure out how to raise the money. I'd call and get a payoff amount, go to the municipal building (2 blocks away) and by the time I got there to payoff the lien, the lienholder had been there and prepaid several more months ahead. This happened 3 times, and I knew it was an inside job. It couldn't be a coincidence that each time I called for a payoff figure, that by the time I got there, the balance would be several thousand dollars more than what I was just quoted. That evening, feeling like my world was crumbling around me, I begrudgingly checked in a guy to the hotel. He said he was in from Fla. The guy was deformed, not very easy on the eye. The next morning, my deformed guest came into the bar and asked me to call him a cab. He had to go see his attorney a couple of towns away. I could not get him a cab, as there was over an hour and a half wait or more as it was summer time. The guy had a look of panic and was very distressed. The bartender came in for her shift, so I asked the guy if I could help him by giving him a ride. So, there I am, waiting and waiting for this guy...thinking of all the things I needed to do. I just wanted to get back to my business... The next day, my deformed guest came into the bar and thanked me for the ride and hospitality. I said goodbye and he was gone. As I was wiping down the bar, i noticed something on the bar....it was a solid bar of 24k gold with a thank you note!!!!! Holy $##t!!! Anyway, I sold the gold to a Jewish jeweler down the street. Paid off the tax lien and went surfing in Barbados. I sold the business 3 years later (1998) for an 800K profit, which would have never happened if not for my deformed angel. | |
