^^ oooooooooo you just reminded me of a really old horror that put me off chicken and mushroom pie until i became a veggie

it was christopher lee and he was an actor who these critics had ripped to bits over his performances so he murdered them all in really horrid ways and one of them was a big fat guy who had poodles and chrsitopher lee cooked his dogs and put them in a pie and choked him to death on it, but they must have used chicken and mushroom pie not really poodles yak yak yak

cant remember what that was called either but loved it

I can't remember which one I saw first, but the following films all put the fear of God in me as a kid:

The Omen (in fact the first two of those films - might have been the music/chanting more than anything else), Jaws (the body under the boat - I think that bit scares everyone) and Poltergeist (especially when the guy starts ripping his own face off as part of an hallucination).

Shame there's not too many great horror films around these days - most seem to follow a formula where one high-school kid after another meets a predictable death. You can watch most films these days and from the start you'll be saying "She'll die, so will he.." etc.

The Trallenburg Terror!!!

I think I was only about 9 ot 10, frightened the living daylights out of me (now there's another movie)

Also, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark! In my thirties when I saw this one, I really like it because the stupid woman (was she a stupid woman? I can't remember, but they ususally are in these sort of movies) DOESN'T get saved at the end...............Oh, did I spoil that for you.................

The first horror film I saw was Salem's Lot. I think it was a Stephen King film about vampires. I remember this vampire floating up to this kids window, saying " Let me in" as he runs his fingernails down the window, the sound going right through you. The kid opens the window and the vampire bites him on his neck

I was only about 12 and I was sh1tting myself

I can't remember the first horror film I saw but I do remember being under 10 and scared by one (for me at the time) terrifying Hammer film! Whilst not a horror film, I do remember watching The Birds when I was maybe 9 and trying to get to sleep that night after seeing the woman with her eyes pecked out!

I remember a trilogy of films from years ago, the best of them being "THE DOLL"..
It was a small, carved, wooden doll, with a chain around it's neck. Held within was the spirit of a warrior. It was a real scarey film, especially when the chain fell off. (It came to life!)
Real nasty piece of work, with razor-sharp teeth and a big knife....

Then I think it was "ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS"...
Watching some woman's eye being slowly pulled onto a sharp piece of wood.... (Nasty!)

"The Toolbox Murders" and "Evilspeak" were quite good, and when the "Evil Dead" films came out I was hooked on them.. (The "Farewell to Arms" part was pure poetry...)

Oh, and I too was scared sh#tless by the Daleks........

Of course the best way to watch a horror film is on your own, at night with all the lights off and with stormy weather outside! Aaaaarghhhh!!!!

Poltergeist and Nightmare on Elm Street! I was about 9 and i swore i heard voices coming from the boiler cupboard for months! What's worse is i had 3 older sisters and the 2 up from me would sneak into my room at night then hide under the bed and shove a hand up the side and grab me in the dark!....No wonder i'm so disturbed now!

carrie...not harry webb..or cliff richard better known to us (those who DON'T pretend they know who i mean,crrr-inge : -)

not sure if it was horror..or someone with superpowers....she's a strange looking woman...sissy spacek....(didnt get the shining maybe cos i watched it on telly 20 years later when they were allowed to release it ....too much running around in that film)

if you haven't seen the film then look away NOW...(so as to not spoil your viewing of the plot.)

the bit with the hand at the end coming outta the grave was the best bit...frits the life outta me,makesme jump..even though when i watch it again and know its coming...

i think horror makes the most impact of watching one in your teens..even if todays standards to the 8o's is more gory..it's how old you are atthe time that gives a lasting 'imp'-ression.

The 'poodle pie' film someone mentioned earlier was THEATRE OF BLOOD with Vincent Price - my favourite movie!

The first horror movies I saw came in the 1970's when BBC2 ran their Horror Double Bills during the summer. THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN with Boris Karloff had me behind a cushion but Hammer's THE REPTILE with Jacqueline Pearce as the snake woman gave me the most terrifying nightmare of all time! Great days! lol

I think my first ones were the 1930s and 40s films, most of them with Lon Chaney, Bela Lugosi or Boris Karloff in as I remember. Off the top of my head, I seem to recall The Wolfman, The Mummy, Dracula, Frankenstein etc. Also watched quite a few of the 1960s and early 70s Hammer films, by which time colour had been invented

The Tingler, it was on dont watch alone on a Friday night and starred Vincent Price, it scared me so much I had to sleep in my sisters room and later on my dad thought it would be a hoot to tap at our window with a broom handle and we screamed the house down, it was brilliant.
